I’m not the biggest fan of their reviews, but I think that the Pitchfork Music Festival looks pretty neat. I plan to be there on Sunday this year, but the really interesting idea at play is on Friday: Pitchfork schedules three bands who have recorded “classic” albums to perform that album live, in its entirety. Last year they had Sonic Youth, Slint and GZA. This year they have Public Enemy and Mission of Burma (the third hasn’t been scheduled yet).
Obviously this is an idea that would get any nerd daydreaming. Which bands/albums would you like to see performed straight through?
I made my list pretty quickly so I’m sure I’ll change my mind a million times, but I’d like to see the following:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Beastie Boys - Paul’s Boutique
The Replacements - Let It Be
They might be somewhat obvious, but hey, it’d be pretty great!
So what do you think?
