That people with AFlutter shouldn’t drink it while taking meds for irregular heartbeat. Chinchy bastage.
I almost always vodka tonic from the well: A good, reliable, idiot-proof drink. I’ll also have a delmonico if I feel like something fancy, or some good whiskey on the rocks.
More often than not I’ll order a beer, but which beer depends on my mood and the selection. Sam Adams, Bass Ale, Sierra Nevada, and black-and-tans tend to be the top four, but I like to check out the tap selection and see if there’s anything good/unusual like Stella Artois or Boddingtons. If there’s a microbrew available I’ll usually check that out. Sometimes I’ll drink the same beer all night, sometimes it’s a different beer every pour. I like beer.
If I feel like drinking, though, I’m all about 7&7s.
White Russian.
If I don’t get that, then it’s usually a rum and coke. I did experiment with making the Tom Collins my drink, but haven’t had it in a while. No reason, really; just fell back on the old standard, I guess.
There’s one particular bar in a restaurant that hubby and I used to frequent when we lived closer to Baltimore. They would make any common “cream” drinks (Creamsicle, Kahlua and cream, White Russian, etc.) with vanilla ice cream, instead of cream. When we used to go there, I loved going to the bar after dinner and having one of those for desert. Needless to say, most bars don’t do this. So anywhere but The Sunset, it’s dark rum and Diet Coke with a slice of lime.
First choice is always a chocolate martini. I prefer dark, but light is fine.
Otherwise, a beer. Rolling Rock, Coors Light, or Foster’s.
I’ll have a brandy manhattan rocks. Vermouth Bianco if you have it, but just a splash. Thanks!
If I’m “taking the edge off,” Bombay Sapphire martini, up, three olives. No edges remain after one of those, usually.
If it’s multiple drinks with friends, and the bar has fresh grapefruit juice, its greyhounds for me. If the grapefruit juice is no good, a vodka gimlet (but only one).
If it’s one drink and then driving home, a Kir Royale.
I’ll have what he’s having. You needn’t be shy with the vermouth though. And don’t forget the bitters.
Current favorite is Scotch on the rocks. Preferably Glenlivet, but I’m easy.
I also like:
Port. Preferably at least 10-years old.
Bourbon on the rocks. Preferably Bookers.
Murphy’s Irish. Guinness will do, in a pinch.
Tequila, straight. Preferably the cheapest white Tequila available, bought from a bodega in the wrong part of town. Tequila should be fresh, and unadulterated.
Vodka tonic with a twist of lime
or
Jaeger and Coke
Depending on my mood.
I honestly don’t understand how anyone can drink beer. To me that is the nastiest substance known to man.
My drink: Jack and Coke. I’m simple like that.
Right now, I’m going with apple martinis.
However, depending on my mood, I’d go with:
Margarita
Beam’s Choice on the rock (“Smoooooth”)
Russian vodka, chilled, no ice, and gulped like the Russians do.
Gin and tonic with lime
Whiskey Sour
I’d also love to try an Old Fashioned, but unless the bar is well equipped, no one has the fixings.
Depending on the circumstances it could be:
a martini (of some ilk)
a margarita (ditto)
or a diet coke.

The one in Glen Burnie, by any chance…?

It’s easy, you just put your lips together and…
I rate it some levels above Jack and Coke…
Beer, the Nectar of Existence.
A simple 7&7 thanks.
Beer. The cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.

Now: Black Label on the rocks
My drinks of the past:
Bacardi & Coke
Long Island Iced Tea
Tanqueray & Tonic
Italian Stallion (Stoli, Campari & cranberry juice)
Me, one spring night at Pat O’Brien’s: “Margarita. Frozen. No salt.”
