I should point out that my favorite flavored chips were Cape Cod Sour Cream & Chive before they disappeared…
miss vicky’s.
specifically the black pepper & lime, and jalapeño flavours.
My favorite is Wise Ridgies, Cheddar & Sour Cream flavor.
Wachusett brand potato chips are the best. State Line used to be the best but they are gone now.
I cried myself to sleep when I heard.
PS I heard that Lay’s uses genetically modified potatoes and corn. Anybody know anything about that?
On a recent trip to see my family in the midwest, my wife insisted that I bring back as much of her favorite chips as possible.
I had to borrow an extra suitcase from my sister to handle the task. It was completely stuffed with Grippos Barbeque chips and Mike Sells Puffcorn Delites. it mattered not that every bag had popped during the flight home.
I like the Herr’s bar-b-que ones best. The crab chips from Utz are a close second.
A second for Sterzings.
They are made just 30 miles down the road.
I’m surprised they are known by anyone but my relatives in the twin cities area.
Actually I’ve heard they are favored by GIs who first tasted them from someones "care package " from home.
Terra Sweet Potato chips. I could eat those nonstop, forever. Unfortunately, the only place I can find them is a half an hour away. Now that I am thinking about them, I want some very very badly. Looks like I am gonna have to hop in the car. Mmm, I can taste them already.
Ruffles salt and vinegar. Ruffles is really the only chip company that really does salt and vinegar right. Plus I like ruffled chips.
Salt and Vinegar Pringles are also pretty good even though they aren’t quite as flavourful as Ruffles.
Baked Doritos are actually pretty good too. I was surprised by that.
I’ve been trying a wide variety of brands and flavors lately (salt and pepper, ketchup, steak and onion, garlic and romano, dill pickle…)
But I found pretty much all to be nasty. So now I’m just back to my old favorite: Jalepeno Krunchers.
Cape Cod Sea Salt and Vinegar. If I eat too many, my lips are sore, but it’s a good kind of pain. I have never tried Zapp’s despite being literally almost surrounded by them at times. I like Wavy Lay’s for dipping. Sour cream and onion is my second favorite flavor.
Cape Cod regular, something about the crunchiness (sp?) of a chip that makes it taste better, i like them so much that last time i was on the cape i visited a factory where they are made, i was suprised, also i was 15, but still suprised.
Salt and Vinegar. Yumm.
Back home (Singapore), my favourite is Ruffles BBQ. But here in the UK, it’s the entire catalog of Walkers “sensations”.
Have to say though, I can’t stand unflavoured or “lightly salted” chips, they taste bland to me… perhaps it’s because of my Chinese “spice it up” heritage, or perhaps it’s because I don’t use dip. Hm. shrug
Cape Cod chips
oh so crunchy
Utz with Old Bay seasoning has to be about the best flavor ever.
I like plain old Ruffles. I dislike most flavored chips, except for nacho cheese Doritos.
I typically stick w/ the great old Detroit standard, Better Maid plain. I don’t think they’re sold too far out of MI, and I utilise the snack-size bags for packing material in my folks’ gift boxes, as they have retired to North Carolina. When I really want to indulge, it’s Cape Cod’s Robust Russet. Salty and sweet at the same time, and for some reason they help when I have a sore throat.
A fancy restaurant I worked at would make their own - thinly sliced and flavored w/ just celery salt from the bar…mmm mm.
Oh, but Utz has the best pretzels, they sell the little barrels of them through Costco.
Another Miss Vickie’s fan here. I can go with anything from plain to Sour Cream and Chili from them. I am in Ontario and we have Humpty Dumpty chips. BBQ is definitely their best.
Side question: I saw an american tv show and I noticed they had Miss Vickie’s on a rack in the background. Are they sold in the states or was this just shot in canada?
