Steak, french fries, coleslaw, Russian dressing–it’s the Pittsburgh Prima. You can have it with a fried egg, if that’s your bag.
The Reuben. With LOTS of sauerkraut. (This is the only way I’ll eat sauerkraut.) I’ll need extra napkins, because a mist of Thousand Island dressing tends to form around me while I eat a Reuben.
Peanut Butter and Chip Sandwiches:
Two slices of bread
Peanut Butter (Smooth)
Chips (Crisps) any flavour
Spread peanut butter thickly on a slice of bread. On top, place the chips (nice and thick too). Place the 2nd slice of bread on top and mash down with the heel of your hand. Eat.
Hmmmm! Tasty.
My favorite sandwich is a “Torta”. It consists of a mexican bread roll filled with carne asada, guacamole, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, salsa and sliced radishes. The torta is served jalapenos and sliced carrots and radishes that have been marinated in jalapeno juice.
Buy some GOOD ring bologna (garlic preferably), GOOD hot mustard (not Guldens, get some Boarshead at least), fresh hard rolls, and a big tomato from the vine. Slice enough bologna for the sandwich, and cut a few extra to enjoy while building the sandwich. Layer the bologna on the hard roll, top with a few slices of tomato, a little salt, and a slathering of hot mustard. Garnish the plate with a garlic pickle and some salt & vinegar chips, wash down with a Sam Adams Boston Lager, and find a comfortable couch. If your SO is anything like my wife, this will be your bed this evening, until this feast has run it’s digestive course.
Primanti Brothers, in Pittsburgh (Oakland or the Strip).

The Combo at The Cheese Shop in Williamsburg, VA. Fresh white crusty french bread slathered with house dressing piled with turkey and the saltiest country ham you can imagine. And swiss cheese. With extra house dressing for dipping. Sigh.
Damn you. I was craving it today (unobtainable due to unreasonable distance to drive for a sandwich) and had managed to forget.
Very fresh white bread, thick slices of crisp bacon, sliced tomato fresh from the garden, one leaf of lettuce. Add plenty of mayonnaise and a liberal sprinkling of salt and pepper. Glass of milk on the side.
sigh I won’t get another one of these until sometime around next July, when fresh tomatoes are available again.
Grilled peanutbutter, bacon, and banana. My mom learned to cook from Elvis.
I second the tomato sandwich. I love them.
I also love tuna salad or chicken salad on honey cracked wheat bread.
Or virginia ham, white american cheese, mayo, honey mustard, oregano, basil, pepper, lettuce, and tomato on wheat. Supernummy.
And then there’s the after-Thanksgiving special…country ham on a buttered potato roll.
Italian dry salami & provolone on a sliced sourdough french roll, toasted under a broiler, then topped with shredded lettuce and tomato.
Condiments are a sin.
Subway Veggie Delite on Parmesean Oregano bread, with honey mustard sauce, hold the mayo, hold the oil, hold me it’s so delicious.
fried egg with mayo, mustard, and american cheese on whole wheat toast…ooooh, baby!
Chopped liver and swiss on Pumpernickel is insanely good.
Turkey, tomato and pepper and spicy sauce or mustard with white bread.
