What's your favorite soap scent?

I love mint but finding a good mint soap can be difficult at best.

Mint. (At the moment, that’s Ice Blue and Demon in the Dark from LUSH - but almost any mint will do. Dr. Bronners is also great.)

After that, jasmine is nice. But I love mint.

Like Antigen said, they always discontinue my favorites, so I’ve stocked up.
Right now I like the Brown Sugar and Fig from Bath & Body Works. I use the shower gel and body spray.

I’ve been told I smell wonderful.

Carnation. Hard to find, though.

A while back ago, I tried out the bar soaps of Dr. Bronner’s brand, and discovered my favorite: Hemp and Tea Tree Oil. Regular soap was too drying for me, and I just didn’t like the texture of other natural brands. I do like the Burt’s Bees baby soap, though–very silky and smooth-textured and delicately scented.

Especially during Houston’s summer, Dr Bronner’s Peppermint can’t be beat.

When I’m feeling rich, I buy a bar of Claus Porto soap. All the scents are good, but I love “Ilyria”–which means Honeysuckle. (Hmmm…*Angel * moment…)

These large bars of soap last forever–and the fragrance stays until the last sliver is gone. Lovely Deco wrappers. And never an allergic reaction.

Dr, Bronner’s Mint is AWESOME, and it seems to clean better than most soaps as well.

Ivory is the only bar soap I would use. I love the clean smell.

For shower gels, usually cool cucumbery smells.

Pear’s Transparent Soap. A lovely smell.

Unscented for me, too. I do like the coconut soap we got in Fiji, though.

I couldn’t resist. I just ordered two bottles of Dr. Bronner’s Mint soap.

Bridget Burke, Claus soap is $15 bucks…a bar!!! That may be more expensive per gram than saffron!

There was a bar of glycerine soap that smelled like fresh-mown grass. I was in college in Madison, WI at the time, and it was winter, and I was checking out the scents at the Soap Opera on State Street. I smelled that soap and was mentally transported to springtime. But I thought it would be a frivolous purchase and didn’t get it, and ever since I left, when I return I go back there to see if they have anything smelling of spring-fresh mown grass, and I never find it, there or elsewhere.

So if anyone knows of such a thing, or of a realistic-smelling essential/fragrance oil, I’d love to hear about it. I’d prefer first-hand (first-nose?) reports of accuracy; that’s what’s kept me from buying stuff I’ve just seen on the internet. BTW, Gap’s Grass scent isn’t it by any stretch of the imagination. Nice scent, but not it.

There is a rather hard to find fragrance oil called New Mown Hay that smells like…well…new mown hay. It might be what you’re looking for. I googled it and got quite a few hits for the fragrance oil (for making soaps) and for candles, but none for already made soaps. I’ll keep an eye out for you.

Well, I do make soap, lotions, that sort of thing for my friends and my own use, so that might not be necessary. Being the granddaughter of farmers on both sides of my family, real new mown hay scent might not be desireable considering my memory, but maybe I’m thinking of when it’s had a bit of time to sit around. I did find this link which has mostly good reviews claiming it’s an accurate smell, but you know how that goes. Maybe I’ll have to start ordering sample vials and hoping.

Forgot to add, too late for the edit - thanks for checking, WhyNot.

The sandalwood in Chandrika is a winner. It’s the only soap I use any more.

You do.

Lisa’s Naturals makes the best soap EVAH! And totally affordable so you can buy up a bunch at a time w/ no guilt. Hard to choose a favorite. Probably “Justifiably Hemp”. Smells aren’t only great part - the soap texture is creamy and wondermous.

Oh joy, a friend on a trip to London has just bought a BOATLOAD of the Liberty soap for me! I’m gonna smell like lavender and eucalyptus forever!

Sultana of Soap from Lush. It’s hard to describe, it’s creamy, nutty, and fruity, but not too strong, and not artificial smelling at all.

St. Louis Lush opens today, I will be stocking up.
