what's your favorite thing to be "all set" with?

the “all set” feeling you have when the kitchen is fully stocked with groceries or the laundry is completely done or whatever - which one do you like best?

I just got a couple library books but they are sort of ho-hum. every now & then I get a stack that includes a bunch I am *really *looking forward to - sequels to books I’ve already enjoyed or non-fiction books I heard talked about on a radio interview with the author.

not having it today but that’s my favorite; it’s like money in the bank.
(oh, and actual money in the bank is nice, too)

what’s your favorite?

For me, the best feeling comes when I’ve got ‘everything clicking’ during a bodybuilding pre-contest diet/prep regimen. It’s actually a rare thing; many factors in your life much fall in congruence at precisely the right time and your timing must be exact for it to happen at all.

The timing of your frequent meals, every 2.5 to 3 hours, starts upon rising. In addition to the 6 meals per day (every three hours), I must consume two gallons of water. On top of these dietary necessities, I also need to schedule the time to work out. I fit my workout in around my diet schedule. Since a post-workout meal is a necessity, regardless of what time it is when my work out ends, I schedule my workouts so that they end when I am due for my next meal.

Sleep is also vital when dieting for a competition. And I only have so much time allotted each day for sleep, since I must get in six meals and space each meal three hours apart. The water intake also limits the amount of sleep I’m able to get, since that much water makes me have to pee about 20 times a day/night. So even when I do my best to get in all my water by a certain time each day, I still get woken once or twice a night to pee.
So it can be really difficult to coordinate all of these factors-not to mention real world responsibilities-together and make them seamless. But with consistency, repetition, dedication and a little creativity sometimes, it “clicks”. And when it does, and the fat is falling off and your strength is staying high, you get a certain “high”. Seriously.

Toilet paper, laundry soap and shampoo.

Ambivalid

your post surprises me. how often are you doing this?

Money, sleep, and toilet paper.

I’m doing it now; it’s my first competition though in three years. I’m not “clicking” right now, that’s for sure. It’s my sixth show overall.

really, sleep gives you and “all set” feeling? like, now I’ve gotten in a bunch of sleep I don’t have to do that for awhile? :dubious:

No, sometimes even a day is good. I have gone years with so much sleep debt all the sleep banks in the world couldn’t pay it off. It is good to get caught up and get it paid off again once in a while. Most people don’t understand that concept but those of us with sleep disorders do.

oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t get it. now I do!

Software / firmware updates. I go through a routine nearly every day where I make sure all my iTunes apps are up to date, and check for updates to any and all sundry update-able things on my system (antivirus definitions, spyware program updates, etc.). Then I’ll check the backup program to make sure the cloud backup is up to date.

Cats fed, watered, medicated, litterboxed, floors swept, a pot of tea and a bowl of popcorn made. Netflix queued up. All set for the day. Even better if it’s cool and rainy out and I get some porch time to enjoy it. It’s nice when everything feels done until bedtime.

Meals planned for the week, shopped for, and mostly cooked (we like to do “investment cooking” where we prepare once, and eat leftovers for 4 days).

Clean shower. I only do the shower like once a month (it’s just me here). If I’ve cleaned the shower that means a whole list of other things has been done, and the big one. All set.

I’m all set now (cleaned the shower a couple hours ago) but I still need to TAKE a shower. heh

E-mail inbox empty, in the GTD tradition. It hasn’t happened to me in a couple of years.

That “clean shower” spray stuff really makes having a clean shower an easier reality. I used to have to scrub my shower every few weeks, and it would be a couple-hours-long affair each time. Once I discovered the “clean shower” rinse; which you simply spray in they shower immediately after you exit, my cleaning time has drastically been reduced.

I only recently read Getting Things Done & loved it. I was wondering if others here had.

I DVR some shows to watch them, and I DVR some shows to archive them. Whenever I get a full season of one of the latter archived, I have a little happy moment of contentment.

Especially if it’s one that has been especially difficult to achieve, like the first season of NuWho has been for me, but this week, I finally got the last episode I needed.

Bill paying. I hate paying bills - and not because I don’t have the money. I just hate the actual activity enough to procrastinate for a few days or a week. It always feels good to have them done.

Getting my guitar strings changed or any set-up work done.

Stew in the crock pot, fire in the fireplace, big bowl of fresh fruit on the counter and kids reading on the couch.
