That’s Countdown. And no way is it real, because it’s on at about 4 in the afternoon.
The idea is that you get nine letters (you can only pick consonants and vowels, as you hear) and make from them the longest actual word you can. So “sculpt” would be the highest scoring word on TSLK’s list. There’s also a maths round, and a final round with a nine-letter anagram (so there’s certainly a nine-letter word to be found).
It did look British. And the American FCC would never have let that pass. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, mind you. The FCC has no sense of humor when it comes to anything about ::ahem!:: s…e…x.
The letters have been digitally altered by a rather clever person as a joke, and it’s since done the rounds with claims that it’s a genuine clip. A bit like that photo of a guy holding an enormous cat.
Here’s my next contribution to this thread - it’s a rather superb short lecture by Richard Dawkins on the theme of “there is more on heaven and earth than is dreamt of in your philosophy”. And no, he doesn’t do any uberatheist tub-thumping here.
I don’t think it’s real either, but something very much like it happened once (only ever shown as an out-take - I don’t think it made it to air in the actual show) Here’s the clip - this one isn’t fake.
A friend sent me this yesterday: Dr. Tran. (Visuals are almost entirely safe for work, language is definitely not). Made me crack up like Billy’s Balloon did; laugh so hard I was tearing up and my stomach hurt.
I swear one of the funniest parts was the 3D bit, and yet nothing really happens there. It was . . . wait for it . . . blink, and then I lost it. I think it’s the setup to that part that gets you.
I have been hooked on this video all afternoon. It’s the intense version of the marble maze game that you had when you were a kid. Definitely funny! Maze Master
