I like them, they really help to follow a thread as I tend to have this thing in that I skip over names. Even when reading a novel I don’t read the names properly and when characters return after a paragraph or two I have search backwards to find out who they are and what place in the story they have. Kindles are a miracle to me as I can use the search function.
Not sure if there’s a word for this or not! (Laziness?..)
Anyway, the avatars have made this forum so much easier to follow now. I can use the avatars to follow conversations much more easily so I’m really grateful for them.
What would be really amazing, would be if those who don’t like them could upload an avatar before they switch them off. But totally understand that people won’t necessarily want to do this. So just accept that all people who use avatars are going to be read by me as being generally of one mass with the same personality!
I decided to go ahead and downsize my Wordpress/Gravatar image (original was 136x136) and it is still comprehensible, so I’m using that. (It is a *Flexicalymene meeki *trilobite from my collection.) Still leaving viewing them switched off, though.
