That is too fucking adorable.
I prefer the cleaner look too.
I prefer no graphics. But, I can accept other people do like them.
Well i cant see them unless im lurking, which i do a lot.
They are vaguely irritating on a very low level.
I find them distracting on a somewhat higher level of awareness and i think they make the place look a bit sloppy and messy, bit that part is ok cause a message board should look at least a little lived in after 20 years.
However noodling afound the webs all these years, my observation is that the flashier shinier bigger movier the avatar, the less like this board a place is
I dont like them one bit but accept them
Actually, I normally can’t distinguish between most greenish things because of red-green colorblindness, but I can distinguish them in your avatar. But both the orange and the yellow could do with a tad more yellowish.
Drumming up interest, which is good. The topic is front and center; in the limelight, you might say.
They annoyed me at first, but I got used to them quickly. I still think there could be some changes to make them fit better with the theme, but they bug me less.
I’m surprised about the “too small” complaint. I get that you probably use the forum on 100% zoom, so they are smaller than they appear to me. But that means you can clearly read the text at 100% zoom. So I’d think your eyes would be good enough to see the smaller images, as well. I mean, the smileys are smaller and you can tell what they are doing, right? Sure, some were unclear but there are fewer and fewer of them as people adapt.
But, hey, if you don’t like 'em, you don’t like 'em. But, if you aren’t completely opposed to the idea, I would like to request that you add one anyways for others. Especially those of you who I know are really creative and could do some good stuff. Help those who like it to still distinguish you.
One thing I do know is that, for me at least, people without avatars often start to blend together once avatars are available. I think it’s just human nature to be visual.
I like them, but I wouldn’t want them to be any bigger (or animated).
Huh?
If you can set it so that the board looks the same as always to you, why do you care what others do/see? Are you worried that they’re, like, gateway avatars?
I got the “unable to upload” message as well, but it apparently did successfully upload since I see it in my older posts. I didn’t think I would be a fan, but then realized I could pick an avatar to supplement the “IANAD” comment I put in every medically related thread. I’ll keep them for now.
They are OK, if a little tiny.
I used to post in a forum that had 160x160 avatars. I used to enjoy making a new avatar every couple of weeks (and changing the user tag to suit it, which you can do there without paying for it.) Panels from comic strips, sections from artworks, nature photos (mine and others) and similar. But 50x50 just isn’t worth bothering with.
Meh. I see it more like an essay vs a haiku, with 50x50 being in the haiku role.
I found the setting to turn off Avatars in Tapatalk.
Life just got a little better.

I’m not fussed.
I’ll admit I was fooled by Lord Feldon’s.
Clever. ![]()
He feels left out whenever someone says “Hey, I like your new avatar!”
I can relate to that; I often feel left out. :o
Per your admonition I yellowed both colors half a tad. Is that enough? ![]()
Needs a skosh more tad.
When I see your avatar, I have the funky Sesame Street pinball number song immediately pop into my head. “SEVEN!” It makes me happy.
Bumping this thread just to add my visage to the mix. It isn’t exactly what I had in mind; a dignified gentleman would choose a full body shot, but I had a hell of a time cropping a google image search down to 50 X 50.
P.S. No moving/animated GIFs!
I like’em just fine although 100x100 might be better for my eyes on a small screen.
We have avatars now?!? . Between not checking in often for the last couple weeks and my typical approach (click New Posts and go as deep as maybe the 2nd or 3rd page) I missed the memo.
I won’t be turning them on or uploading one. I’m not resistant to the board making the change. Avatars aren’t going to result in ruinous chaos and mayhem. I just don’t care.
