What's your Ringtone?

Cutesy? You haven’t seen Judy Dench’s performance of Lady Macbeth.

You don’t work in a loud and distracting environment where you might not notice a phone vibrating, or it might be in a jacket pocket a few feet over there, do you? You also don’t have work that causes you to prioritize incoming calls based on who is calling and whether those calls can be ignored for a bit or should be answered right away?

ETA if I miss a call and the caller leaves a voice mail, I hear Darth Vader telling me that it is pointless to resist

“Pictures of A City” from King Crimson’s In the Wake of Poseidon for my wife.

Various appropriate songs and themes based on other callers and what I think of them. I almost broke up with one lady I was dating when she figured out that her ringtone was “No Action” from Elvis Costello’s This Years Model.

My generic ringtone is “Borrowed Love” by Chris Duarte.

Simmer down, buddy. I live by myself. When I’m out in public, I silence my ringer, but I can still hear when the phone rings through a bluetooth device that connects my hearing aids. That okay with you? :dubious:

My default ringtone is the opening riff of Wilco’s “Casino Queen”. I used to have a specific one for my wife, a clip from Fleetwood Mac’s “Talk To Me Baby”, but that was on my old phone and I never got it set up on my current phone.

My ringtone is the first few bars of the Hallelujah Chorus as I am a chorister. My email alert is the Doctor Who Tardis sound, and my text alert is the fanfare from Jona Louie’s “Stop the Cavalry”.

Breezin’ by George Benson for all callers. everything else is default. MoonMoon will be relieved that I no longer use Yakkity Sax.

My phone’s default ringtone (is that what you meant by “your ringtone”?) is currently one I made from The Heavy’s How You Like Me Now. People I get calls from with some frequency all get a custom ringtone, usually one that I make specifically for that person. I have 102 active custom ringtones in my phone at the moment.

I also make custom text tones for people, and no, it isn’t acceptable to use the same tone for both.

Oh, and I set vibration patterns for people too, so even on silent I can tell who’s calling.

Vibrate. I’m just afraid I’ll forget to turn off the ringtone in an inappropriate setting, so I just leave it on vibrate always. Before that, it was just the default.

I usually have my phone on vibrate, as well, though I’m on my headset often enough that I hear the ringtones.

My general ringtone is the Marvel Studios Fanfare. Certain people have specific ringtones assigned: my wife has a clip from Pirates of the Caribbean, my father has the Monday Night Football theme, my friend Suzanne has Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne,” and my sister has ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky” (an inside joke, because she hates that song).

While I’ve used several ELO songs as my ringtones over the years (being a big ELO fan), I’ve never actually used the one that I’m sure you’re referring to.

I only have one special ringtone on my phone and it is for my best friend, the one person I will always pick up for.

It is the ringtone of the Farnsworth “cell phone” from Warehouse 13.

The opening theme for “Buckaroo Banzai Through the 8th Dimension”. Which I can’t find online to link to, sadly.

Default ringtone: into of “Brown Sugar” (first 7 chords)

My ringtone for my phone is for a wolf howling and for my texts and emails a cat meowing .

My general ringtone is “Tubular Bells”, because I like the music. People sometimes tell me my phone or purse in haunted.

My parents get “Begin the Beguine”, my brother, who can do anything, gets the Indiana Jones theme, and a close friend gets Creedence Clearwater’s “Fortunate Son”. The last two make great alarm ringtones, since it is impossible to sleep through them.
To the poster who hates the sounds of phones, mine rarely rings when I’m out in public. When it does, I need to be able to hear the phone and answer, as there are health emergencies in the family, and calls come from hospitals, hospice, and therapists. Believe me, public calls annoy me, too, but sometimes they are necessary.

General ringtone: “Hava Nagila”
Text: Theme from Dragnet
DH’s ringtone: bong…bong…bong, because that’s the ringtone on his phone
Ringtone for “unknown name, unknown number”: sound like an old-fashioned bell phone ringing

Ive only given a ring tone to one person, it;s “Baratin”, a soukous song by Mpongo Love

Mine is Tyketto’s “Lay Your Body Down” so I can have Danny Vaughn singing to me whenever someone calls. I don’t bother assigning ringtones to people 'cos it’s almost only ever my mum who calls me.

I’ve got the old Tonight Show, Johnny Carson mind you, theme music on mine. I let it play for a few seconds, then I push the button and say, And now, heeeeeeres, Bobby. And he hears me and says, what?
