When Come Back Bring PII A Mobile MMP

Yay! 1st on 7!
Thanks for the set up, db

This is obscenely early to be home from a showing of Rocky Horror. And yet here I am.

The great news is that I won the raffle! I can’t remember what I got (I think it’s a poster or a DVD), but I actually won something!

It’s been an interesting week at Casa Phil. (Why do hear Garrison Keillor’s voice announcing that? Probably because I just finished his book, Liberty. It’s funny, but the ending is predictable. And are Lutherans really so pessimistic/fatalistic?)

My son-in-law’s dad (SSgt Hero) finally got a backbone. He met my SIL and my daughter at a neutral location, where they agreed to completely move out of his wife’s home, under his watchful eye. Almost everything has been moved; anything remaining (with one exception) will be moved tomorrow. The remaining item is my daughter’s car. It needs an alternator & two tires. We’ll try to get it towed before SSgt Hero returns to Iraq next Thursday.

Angelboy has blossomed into quite the sweetheart. I feel like doing a LOLCAT version showing my three-month-old in full wide-eyed big-opened-mouth-grin, with the caption: “teh cute…I owns it!”

I’m still at Wallyworld; now, I’m learning how to run a cash register. Funny…I was an accounting major at college, & spent over 30 years behind a desk at various positions running various Lotus & Microsoft Office apps. When I applied at Wally world, I figured the job would be temporary, until I could get back behind a desk. But this job is fun! Yes, I return merchandise to where it/they go on shelves. Yes, I tell customers (“guests”) where to find them. BUT…I’ve always said I could do anything if I worked with a good team, and the Wally world employees I work with are great folks. I love learning new things, and there’s always something new going on here. If I don’t find out great stuff from my coworkers, I can always learn from the customers. (One of the best bits of wisdom I ever heard was that, “someone is going to tell you something today that you really, really need to know. Listen to them.”) It doesn’t say who’ll tell me, so I infer that I should listen to everyone. Yes, I hear nonsense, but I also hear great stuff.

Also, my blood pressure has gone down in the last year, along with my clothing size (two sizes, woohoo!)

Love, Phil

Very funny, VBob.

Good for you, phil, on finding a job that you like. Also, forgot to say the other day good luck to Smarty on the courier job. It sounds like fun to me!

We’re up early as predicted here in TVLand… I guess that’s what happens when you go to bed at 8 p.m.! Not sure what’s in store for today. I suppose we’ll just find out as it goes along.

Up sorta early, thanks to Scruffy. About 6:30 she started barking. That’s Scruffy-talk for “I gotta peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!” I’ve also finished some shopping - Land’s End offered free shipping and men’s mock turtlenecks were on sale, so I got my sweetie 3.

It’s still dark out! And it’s after 7! I hate that about fall and winter. Don’t forget that next weekend, we turn the clocks back!

I need caffeine - off to find some.

Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Last night was fun. Since it involved a hottub and champagne I’ll just leave it up to you all’s imaginations.

SmartiePants good luck with the job. Here’s hopin’ it’s what you hope it is and you get a fun job.

Phil like I always say, if we gotta work, at least let it be sump’n we can stand most of the time.

I agree MOOOOOOM a little bit of daylight is finally peepin’ through outside but it’s still too dark. It should be daylight by seven a.m. dangit!

Today, we are hangin’ with some friends. Thus, I am bein’ a heathen. No churchification today. They’ll just have to figure out some way to get along without me. It’ll be hard, but I’m sure they’ll manage.

I’m lookin’ forward to a day of good food and drink and general carryin’ on and silliness as these gatherings usually are.

Time for more caffiene and brekkie foragin’. I’m thinkin’ cereal since we need to save room for piggin’ out.

Later Y’all!

Up and caffeinating…I guess since I didn’t post the obligatory durnken post last night, I’ll have to post the obligatory half-hung-over post.

I was awakened by a whining Ernie, and since I didn’t feel like cleaning up after him - I got up at 5:15 to let him out. So of course after being fed, all the dogs are now asleep again, and I’m not. <sigh>

We went out to dinner and it was pretty good. Our waiter was not the brightest bulb in the box, though. He was pretty slow, too. I ordered fried soft shell crab - yummy! I’d never had that before.

Then we went out for a couple of drinks at the bar Mr Rebo goes to frequently. We played Texas Hold 'Em on the NTN setup they have. I did pretty good! At one point I was up to around $20,000! We lost all our (play) money by the time we left.

We’re going out to breakfast later - to Waffle House! Gonna get some scattered, smothered and covered hash browns. Are you drooling, Swampus?

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

Back from breakfast at Bob Evans and an early morning trip to Lowes. Soon it will be time for our early morning nap.

Glad things are getting straightened out with daughter’s MIL, Phil. And that you’re enjoying your job.

Read most of my book-club book last night. Woke up in the middle of the night and read some more. It’s OK, but not great. (How Starbucks Saved my Life) At least it’s short.

Off to prepare for churchification, then work-related gunk.

Back later.

GT

Nah! Now if you had said… scattered, smothered, covered and chunked I’d be all drooly and jealous.

Hai everybody.

Coffee is perking, french toast is frying, the sun outside is shining, the kittens are cuteifying, and all is well with the world.

In just about 24 hours, The Boy and I descend upon Manhattan and wreak havoc upon our personal finances in a frenzy of shopping, theatre-going and fine dining. Lots to do between now and then, unfortunately… I got my semi-annual migraine yesterday afternoon, and it was most unpleasant.

LiLi, we’re going to Shopsin’s for breakfast at some point while we’re there. Seeing as I’m sure you’ve read the whole book cover to cover by now, is there anything on the Giant Menu of Doom that you think is a must-try? I’m intrigued by mac and cheese pancakes, but that might be a bit too weird even for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Huge rain storm last night- gusty wind, torrential rain, some lightening. Cool weather.
However, woke up to a leak in the bathroom ceiling. Darn.

Is it Sunday already? How did that happen? Who stole my weekend?

Friday night was fun, we went to a theatre in Brum to see Vampires Rock which was basically a tribute band with a very flimsy plot. It was fun but honestly, you can spot the folks who don’t get out much! Spaz, I’m envious of your trip to see Rocky Horror though, I haven’t been to a showing of that one for a while but last time we all dressed up and caused quite a stir on the walk from the car park to the theatre.

Saturday we did errands and stuff, nothing very exciting, but it all had to be done. I was suppose to be going over to a friend’s house for the evening but she cancelled because her daughter wasn’t well. Instead I stayed in with 'im indoors and watched “30 Days of Night” - a bizarre vampire film with the usual plot failing that people decide to go off by themselves when they know for sure there’s something nasty out there that’s already eaten most of the townsfolk.

Sunday has been spent doing grocery shopping, laundry, ironing and cleaning the house. I’m just waiting for the last load of laundry to finish before I find myself something else to do. Instead, I’m sitting here with my feet up, watching some rubbish film on Sci-Fi.

'im indoors is still faffing out booking our trip to Vegas for January - I’ve told him what dates work for me, he just has to wave his credit card at it now. I suppose I will have to wait a while for that one - he’s only just managing to do the one domestic job I asked him to do recently, and that was something he’d promised to do four weeks ago. I think he might actually get round to it today.

I made Death Chicken again yesterday with additional mushrooms, different soup, different spices as I used a curry mix I got from our local Asian supermarket, and I used chicken thighs instead of boobies, and swapped some of the parsley for thyme. Does that still count as Death Chicken?

Here’s one from yesterday. My 10 year old daughter is fairly certain that in a previous life she was a cat (and will be again in a future life).

So, yesterday in the car she’s telling me that her best friend and she were probably from the same litter when they were incarnated.

See, this in this life she was reincarnated as a person, so in the previous one she was simply incarnated.
Oh, and BooFae… Sounds nummy, but it ain’t death chicken, I’m afraid!

But it’s still got chicken, bacon and rice in it…oh well, I’ll just hav to think up another name for it.

I forgot to mention that our clocks changed today so when I got up it was an hour earlier than I thought it was. What kind of person decided that 2am was the right time to put the clocks back? I did remember to do the alarm clocks and the oven clock and our watches, fortunately everything else adjusts itself. The downside is that it’ll be dark when I leave home in the morning and dark when I go home after work. I will have to make sure I get out during my lunchbreak otherwise I won’t see any daylight until next weekend!

I am up and brekkied–omelet with mushrooms, onions and swiss cheese that was teh yum, fried red taters (N.O.T, certainly!) w/onions, bacon and wheat toast. It was all delicious.

I don’t know if I mentioned it or not, but along with the pizza kits I bought, I also got some Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough, the chocolate chip. We baked some Friday night and some more last night. Damn, those cookies are good! LOL And I didn’t even eat it raw … well, except for a few tastes.

I posted this in my live journal, but I’ll share it here as well. My son is featured on the web page of his college! Here is the link; it’s Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR, a small, historically black college. He’s on the front page, in one of the revolving pictures (he’s on the right, seated at a table next to a girl, with another guy across from him, all studying), and he’s also the sole student pictured on the financial aid page. Woo hoo, my son, the web page star!

Your son is the one reading a book on the Financial Aid page? He’s is adorable!

Mornin’ one and all. I’m up, caffienating, and contemplating what to do with my day.

I’m wondering what the hell happened to my weekend too.

Smartie, I hope you get the job along with the pay that you require.

**Herbs, **your son is a cutie.

I need to run out to Costco today in hopes I can find some chanterelle mushrooms there. I usually hunt for those in woods, but I can’t go alone, and hubby somehow managed to avoid taking me. He wanted me to go with my mother, but my mother is just getting too old and fragile for the hunt now. Besides, she gets on my last nerve when we’re out there.

So, I’ll have to buy the suckers at fifteen bucks a friggen’ pound. Which really sucks, because when I hunt for them myself, I find beautiful specimens. Chanterelle mushrooms are teh num and are awesome in gravies, scrambled with eggs, and any number of things. I always come home with them, clean them up, sautee them in butter and stick them in the freezer for when I need them. You cannot eat these mushrooms raw, and you can’t freeze or store them without preparing them first.

I guess I’ll cruise the Dope for a bit.

OMG, Herbs, what a hottie! fans self Whew, must be a hot flash, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the good wishes, all, I’m trying hard not to count any chickens lest I end up in Disappointment Coop…

Got up this morning to no cream for my coffee so it was off to Winco for provisions, yawn. I managed to remember everything except that we’re getting really low on coffee filters–you have to buy them so seldom that it doesn’t get onto my shopping radar, especially early Sunday morning pre-coffee radar! Eh, they usually have them at Dollar Tree, good excuse to go browse…

BooFae, I’m confused–you guys do DST a week earlier than we do?

It’s incredibly windy this morning, but still quite warm. Weird…
