When is it appropriate to contact this recruiter?

I responded to an advertised job on a recruiter’s website last week. I heard back from a recruiter and gave her the information she asked for (citizenship status, etc.)

She sent me back a note stating:

I got this email on Tuesday. I know it may still be too early to contact the person she forwarded my resume to. However, when would it be appropriate to drop a quick email to him regarding the position? I’m assuming that it’s OK to contact him by the fact that she gave me both his phone extension and his email address. Or am I wrong on that?

In this market, I’d go ahead and contact him, just to let him know you’re still available and would like to talk. It’s best to keep your name in their faces at times like these.

Sure, touch base with him, but don’t be too agressive.
