When the plague is over in the MMP

Decent weather for a change - 72, which is the expected high for the day. 64 tonight, and 72 again tomorrow, but tomorrow night’s low is predicted to be 70 and then it goes back up into the 80s. I swear, 100 in Bahrain was nowhere near as bad as 80 here…

A rather pretty dragonfly landed on the mail while I was carrying it into the house. It sat there for a minute or so before I shooed it away. (Mantids are the only insects welcome in the house.) After looking at a lot of pictures I’ve tentatively identified it as a female blue dasher.

Breakfast, as usual, was a frozen chimichanga – no longer frozen, of course. Haven’t decided on lunch yet, even though it’s now after 3.

A batch of jerky is drying in a 170 ‘Murrican oven, and I painted my toenails a shimmery lavender - some “Mermaid Magic” cheapo enamel from the Dollah Sto’. It’s beeeyoootiful. :mermaid:

Watching “Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver. (Current episode is a couple weeks old. Doesn’t matter, nobody knows what day it is anyway.)

SIN(15)=.26 COS(15)=.97 Rise/run=.27 =.25:1 multiply each side by 12 gives 3:12.

That is crazy. Even here in the expensive Bay Area, 80% is on sale this week at $2.99 a pound. What’s gone bonkers is the price of other beef - it’s high and weird. Last weekend, I was looking at ribeye steaks at $30.06 a pound, and there was some other cut going for $19.77/pound. Why 30.06 and not $29.99?

I can’t focus to save my own life today. This is what happens when all my meetings get moved or canceled and suddenly I’m not forced to prioritize my work. Also, I can’t tell if I’m procrastinating or hungry, which means it’s probably the former and not the latter.

Oh, well - had today’s usual afternoon iced coffee, though cut it in half to avoid too much caffeine. Now trying to wrap up at work and noodle on what’s for dinner while trying to figure out how to visit my mom this afternoon and exercise, too. I think I’m going to do some kind of Mexican baked wrap thingy, like an enormous flauta but for people who hate deep frying things. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. I need to start getting up in the morning to exercise; it’d get it out of the way and then I wouldn’t have to worry about fitting it in after work, but dang - I do love just to sit around and drink coffee after I wake up before I have to do things.

Do they work systemically or only on a specific area? My joint pain is in all hand and foot joints, plus knees and elbows.

The butchers went out and shot their own?

I can’t do math like that, but I know how to use a framing square…

Napped and awoke to find the house temperature heading upwards again. I turned the system to ‘off’ for a minute and then went back to auto and cooling is taking place. Either need someone to look at the box or just remember to check it each afternoon. No biggie.

I have decided that dinner tonight will be cheeseburgers.

Take care all.

Home from the afternoon trip to the park.
It was hot.
Asshole golfer was hitting them into the park again. I got my truck and drove around to where they are coming from and didn’t see anyone. There were kids in the park today.
What we need is for somebody on the small dog side to peek through the trees and see who is doing it.
Left just in time, saw one flash of lightning on the way home and the thunder was rumbling as we walked to the door.

Normal sort today. One more day of work, then a day of mandatory VET. Got sketti sauce with meatballs going in the slow cooker. I had to put Alex Catt in time out, she was trying to zoomie on my lap during martini time. :open_mouth:

: round of applause :

Nut, hope your amphibian feels axolotl better. I’ll show myself out.

Flyboy, not sure what is more painful, the cuts and abrasions, or the having to type all that data in.

MetalMouse - maybe it’s just your thermostat? Is it one of those programmable types?

Well, Miss Cleo had to be put down. The vet said she could do a series of tests, but the kitty was 16, and even if they could figure out what was wrong and even if daughter had the money (which she doesn’t) the typical lifespan of torties is 10-15 years, so she passed that anyway. Not being flippant here - Cleo was obviously deteriorating and at her age, heroic measures just didn’t make sense. She had a good life and now she’s no longer suffering. Not bad for a rescue kitty. So now they’re down to 2 cats - sisters, no less! And a pug who’s close to being a geezer.

Supper was Chinese. They’re doing quite a take-out business - there were 2 people in front of me in line and 3 waiting when I came out. honestly, I rarely saw that many people in the restaurant itself when it was open!

My big pack o’styluses came today! I’ve already worn out 3 using my tablet. Now I’ve got 10 new ones!

Oh - and the hall toilet innards have died. So after Roxy goes to sleep, daughter and I have to replace them. Or maybe I’ll just leave a bucket that can be filled in the tub and they can flush that way. Then we can fix it tomorrow. Maybe that’s a better plan. yeah.

I hope that your axolotl is feeling better soon nut.

Hugs to your daughter Moooooooom. Even when they’re old and in pain, it’s still hard to let them go.

The dermatologist checked me over this morning. No unusual lumps, bumps or lesions were found, so I’m good until next July. I cleaned the trash out of the backseat when I got home, then came in, got the outside broom and did about 15 minutes worth of yard and patio work. When I got that done, I came in and straightened up / took inventory of the pantry. That added a couple of things to the grocery list. This week’s bills are up to date and I need to stop by the leasing office tomorrow to sign my new lease. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been here for four years already.

I did take a midday siesta (not a normal thing for me) and got refreshed though. Tonight, I need to take Nelson’s food and water dishes up, as he’ll be NPO for his dental work tomorrow (they’re putting him under, poor baby).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! We had some quality cee-mint pond time and then I made sup which we promptly et up, as one should do with sup, I reckon. OYKW cleanded the kitchen and did the dishes, so yay for that. OK, when one of us cooks, the other cleans up. We’re nice like that, dammit!

MOOOOOOM so sorry about Cleo. Like red said, it’s always hard to lose a pet.

red poor Nelson! Give him a skritch from Unca swampy.

I think in just a bit I shall go beddy bye. I need to rest up. Gonna go mow the back forty over to the church house in the mornin’.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

My life just isn’t as lively as y’all’s. We went to WalMart to pick up some TP and a few other things, then came home and I’ve pretty much been on the computer ever since. It’s leftovers night – supper for me was some cheese tortellini and a piece of steak I pulled out of the fridge. Not sure what the others had. Getting on time for bed now…

Sorry about Cleo, FCM

Feel better, Nelson.

I’m sorry about Cleo.

As to the house cleaner, yes, she probably didn’t kill us, but the agreement when we re-started was that she would wear a mask. Both of us have health risks, and we’ve chosen to be stringent, so buh-bye.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Up stoopid early, but woke up to answer the call of nature and knew I was not goin’ back to sleep, so here I am. As I mentioned yestiddy, the big plan of the day is mowage over to the church house. I shall be there around nine to get started. We should be finished everything by noon. After that I foresee shower and nappage. Maybe some quality cee-mint pond time. Or not.

susan the housekeeper knew the deal, so her loss. I do not blame you for firin’ her. Y’all have to look out for yourselves.

SCAd there are many days here at da cave when sloth rules. That’s one of the good things about retirement. If’n I don’t want to do anything, I won’t and nobody can make me. :older_man:

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I shall make myself a bit presentable before headin’ out. Fortunately I do not have to be out and about the public presentable cause grass does not care how I look.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Like swampy, I was up stoopit early, but I chose to stay under the covers and have some quality tablet time. FCD was having a bad time, and he woke me when he got up to take an oxy. So I’ll be driving him to PT, since he’ll still be under the influence. Luckily, the place is less than 5 miles from here, so I can drop him off, then go back later to get him.

Daughter and I will replace the toilet innards today, and I need to do some laundry, but I may wait till tomorrow, since there’s a chance of rain today. No rush either way. And I should dust. Dunno if I will, but I should! Beyond that, who knows??

Happy Firday!!

I don’t believe I’ve ever used a framing square except to cut the end off rafters. It is good to know that both methods work.
