When the plague is over in the MMP

Afternoon all. It’s 93F outside and the lawn IS NOT being mowed today. Did go out to dinner (Texas Roadhouse) and ate well (and tipped well–those servers are not only risking their health but numbers are down, so I try to add a little more).

Nellie, I normally eat only two meals a day. One between 10-11 and another at 5-6. I try to keep snacking down to a minimum and try to have bananas so my snacking is good for me, but on occasion…and I blame my brother for the Kool-Aid habit, he used to keep it around for his little kids (who are now college grads) and it appealed to my sweet tooth.

FCM, haven’t been to DQ for quite awhile…may have to give them a try.

hippie, not nice the branch hit the house, but nice someone can make use of it.

Thel, haven’t been to Church (raised Catholic) in many years, like you I really did try, but in the end…so you’re not alone.

Hugs, tears, and happy thoughts to all. Nappage is now a probable occurrence.

Just watched Hamilton again. I am so impressed with the production and especially with Miranda - he’s amazingly talented!

Now, I don’t know. Too hot to go out. And I’m too stuffed from lunch to even think about supper. So we’ll just graze from the fridge if we want to eat. Life is simpler that way.

Fireworks in a snowstorm are quite awesome. But there is never any need to plow in July. Sitting on the deck kinda sucks though. We haven’t had snow since the first week of June, so I have that going for me.

hippie, glad there was no serious damage. When the neighbours’ willow came down a while back, two of the trunks hit their house and knocked small holes in the roof; the third trunk came down right on the centreline of my Subaru, bumper to bumper. Not ten minutes after I’d parked the car and come into the house…

All this talk about DQ is making me want some – and they’re just down the block.

Ok. Now I’m confused. Where do you live?

I vacuumed, made lunch, and went out for pet food. Which is why Alex Catt is now on THE LIST. She bolted out the door when I got home, and I found her in the maintenance paint closet, after I spent 15 minutes running around in a 108 heat index looking for her. Stoopid cat.

For a minute I was worried you had gone Hansel and Gretel on RoxStar and her friends. :grimacing:

Home from the afternoon park trip.
It was a hot 99 degrees at the park.
Echo is on THE LIST. She caught a bird on the way to the gate, I had a hell of a time getting her to let it go. Then I had to get the leash on her and drag her out of the yard, and to top it off, she broke the snap that holds my wrist strap on my phone case.
I suppose I shouldn’t be too mad about that, I’ve been wanting to buy a new one anyway but didn’t want to spend the money.

She was a bit of a bitch at the park again. There were some new dogs there, and she got a little testy with them. One of them was a papillon, who was having none of her mouth.
My next dog may be a papillon, they are cute and I hear they are really good at catching mice.

I need both dog and cat food. I’m debating ordering ti from da jungle or going to the pet store where a park friend irks. It’s a small store, help out the local economy.
I’ll see what they have for Adam, he is really getting thin, so maybe something better than Friskies for him.

My son is making some muffins, only in a square pan instead of a muffin tin. He is going to put blueberry mix on the bottom and apple cinnamon mix on top. Don’t know how it’ll turn out, but Jiffy Mix is not expensive, and so it he messes it up, no biggie. I’m not about to discourage him from doing anything in the kitchen.

I roasted a chicken and cooked pinto beans from dry in the instant pot. I cooked them an hour but I think 45 minutes would have been better. We had broccoli and a few other odds and ends. I need to go clean the kitchen. I surely don’t want to have to face it in the morning.

Today has been a day of sloth which is what most my days are like now. Hubs went to irk for a few hours and we napped. I accidentally bought salted caramel ice cream thinking it was chocolate as I wasn’t wearing my eyes, so I shall have to eat it I guess. I wanted a watermelon but we didn’t make it to the store.

And another week draws to a close. Catch y’all in the next MMP.

Doggie, calling Doggie! Check your FB friend requests. I found you!

I finally got the Disney+ login so I could watch Hamilton. I hereby declare my unending love for Thomas Jefferson as portrayed in the play.

Went for a loooooong walk this morning, dodging bikers and runners part of the way. It seems there was a triathlon this morning. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Time for chillage. See y’all in the next MMP!

*Non Texas Chainsaw Massacre version

Supper is et ('twas good: mojo chicken, Cuban black beans, rice and cilantro - lime slaw) and now for KP. After that, I need to give Nelson a bath. He rolled in something when we were out this afternoon and now he smells like a barnyard. The little booger isn’t going to hop into my bed tonight without getting cleaned up.

Today I put some leftover roof roll onto the two 8-foot (WIDE, you mugs!) steps, went with Mrs. L.A. to get paint, and took out the trash and the recycling. Rib-eyes and corn on the cob on the barbie tonight, and tequila sunrises. I suspect I’ll start cooking after Mrs. L.A. gives the cats their gooshy food.

Howdy Y’all! We attended virtual deheathenization, had N.O.L. and have been sloths all afternoon and now into the evenin’. I really, really, really enjoyed the service this mornin’. The Bishop preached a good sermon and the music was great. We even sang along. There’s a service bulletin one can click on to follow along with songs, scriptures, and prayers. Nappage also occurred this afternoon. The biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow and all is well.

See Y’all tomorrow!

Today was an easier day at irk (shorter shift) and so I’m not so taaahhred as yesterday - irk was short handed so I got talked into staying a solid 12 flippin’ hours, open to close last night. That was … not fun. Well, I’ll make a coupla extra bucks.

Better even than a smooth shift today, though, a customer turned out to have a couple :snake: and is swinging by this very evening to buy a couple of my ratties. So now I have a new customer, and they live close by and may even turn into regulars. They were super excited to learn what species I have, and seem really nice in general.

Need to roll my trash bin to the curb, I guess. The rats eat almost anything food-based that would be trash (celery ends, apple cores, stale bread, etc.) and relish TP rolls and Kleenex boxes and the like, so lil’ ol’ me really produces very little garbage.

Alas and alack, my current locale has no municipal recycling. If that was available, I’d slice my minuscule landfill contribution further!

I have a gigantic avocado on my counter that seems about ready to eat. That is as far as my dinner planning has gotten.

Well, Nelson is bathed and smells 100% better. He doesn’t really fight baths too much, but I always give him a good treat after (tonight was a whole strip of duck jerky!). Now, he’s running around drying off.

I often make pinto beans in the IP and 45 mins is definitely better. After they’re done with the pressure cooking part, the liquid is pretty watery. I usually hit the saute button and let them boil furiously for about half an hour. The agitation of the beans against each other thickens up the liquid.

Here’s a cool IP recipe site.

Many medium-sized tasks accomplished. Still need to exercise.

Evening all. Dishes unloaded from the dishwasher and a little TV watched, and that’s about the total level of activity today. Need to make the weekly list up as soon as I can find a pen (first thing on list–go to Staples and buy pens).

red, never fear, nelson will find something else smelly to get into…

shoe, I knew you had rats for snake food, but I didn’t realize you raised the critters…

Flyboy, why 8-foot wide steps…that’s a lot of width, isn’t it?

Sari, when is Echo not on THE LIST?

FCM, Cats, I guess I’m going to have to watch Hamilton…I have a friend who is a Hamilton impersonator (the real 18th century one, powdered wig and all) and he likes it too.

OK, that’s enough for this evening. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Mmmmm … bean broth. The best part of homemade beans, IMnotsoHO. Uh-oh, I may develop a cravin’ soon! We all know what type of 'fest will follow.

Luckily, they play the music pretty loud at work, and nobody notices a lil’ crop dusting over the racket & background aroma of skunky devil’s lettuce anyway.
Every job has its perks!

Well, Meijer was utterly, completely out of lemons and limes, and the formerly 24-hr Wally Woyld apparently closes before 10 now :expressionless: so hopefully the avocado can wait until suitable citrus accompaniment can be procured.

I have a squeezy bottle of that fake RealLemon stuff, but that seems like a poor companion for what promises to be a magnificent avocado - if only I slice into it during that brief, magical window of ripeness.

Dinner was a coupla scrambled eggs instead, because brinner (breakfast for dinner, doncha know) is probably one of my favorites.
The eggs are from a local. Man, I wanna have chickens someday!

Now TV-positioned chillage is occurring. “Third Rock From the Sun” DVDs so as to minimize brain usage. I am snacking on apple slices with peanut butter, so let it be duly noted that I do too occasionally consume a fruit and/or veg. Washed down a multivitamin, so I feel all kinds of righteous and well nourished!
