When the plague is over in the MMP

The slope on the shed roof is only 15º. Does that mean it has a 15º pitch? The two sides together make a 30º angle. Anyway, it’s not too steep to talk on safely. No worry about wind. They come around Autumn/Winter. I’m really hoping this roof stands up to them!

I left a couple of hours early yesterday, and it only took 1:45 to get home! That’s an average speed of 65.7 mph. Everything is put back into the shed – neatly. The pavilion is put back in its bag, and it’s in there too. I thought I might attempt that last strip of roof roll today after work (telecommuting today), but I’ll wait until Saturday. Or maybe Daniel will come in the meantime.

@Johnny_L.A I’m 93.4% sure I don’t have to remind you to make sure you have your phone with you up on the roof, or at least on the ground next to the ladder. God forbid you should need it.

I always have my cell phone with me, but the ONE TIME I left it in the car, November 6, 2007, I fell and broke my ankle (I fell off my platform shoes-- so sue me). I lay in the parking lot of an office building looking wistfully at my foot, which was pointed in a direction that no foot should point while still attached to a leg, and also toward my car containing my purse with the phone in it. I was just going to run into the building for a second

Anyhoo, now whenever I step on a ladder or even on a chair to get something, I always put my phone on the floor ('cause I usually don’t have pockets). I’ve become superstitious about it. I sometimes think, I’ll skip this time, but I only need to be hit in the head with a brick once. When I’m in the tub, the phone goes on the floor next to the tub.

A word to the wise from Auntie Thel. :kissing_heart:

Morning all. Weird dreams last night (I was touring the ocean in a submarine (not yellow) and then somehow ended up in a diesel car that was inside a truck going to a local school for show and tell…don’t normally remember dreams, guess that one was odd enough to stick.

Anyway, fast was broken with a big bowl O’Cereal and except for a little cleanup around the house, nothing much on the agenda for today. Just as well, heading for the mid-90’s today and no rain in the forecast.

FCM, the ability of little children to watch the same programming over andover never ceases to amaze me…I trust you haven’t introduced her to the ‘Baby Shark’ song yet…

Thelma, I remember that ‘chemistry lab’ smell. Not altogether unpleasant, but odd. Hope Sweetie’s bath regime works.

Sari, you ain’t thinking about adopting another cat, are you???

Good Hump day to all.

Oh yeah?

Pitch is rise in inches per 12 inches run.

My butt hurts. I ran for 40 minutes last night (well, run/waddle combo), then took my daughter for a 25 minute bike ride. Cycling engages way different muscles than running. Hence, I’m actually butthurt.

In other news, I found out last night that I’m really embarrassing to my tween and teenage kids. I have arrived! I was picking up groceries at a local store. Pickup was crazy disorganized and the stuff they dropped off looked off. So I figured I’d check to make sure it was mine; it wasn’t. According to my son, the act of checking was bad enough; actually having the gall to ask about it was worse. Then, horror of horrors, the lady next to me hopped out of her car saying she thought we might have each other’s stuff, then checked her trunk and swapped groceries with me in a perfectly pleasant transaction while chatting through our masks! How awful! Oh, well. I remember when the sound of my mom’s breathing was annoying; I guess we’re there now.

Pfffffft - Baby Shark has been in the rotation only slightly more recently than Patty-Cake, which I started when she was about a month old. She will sing it (as well as a 2-y/o will sing) and do all the associated choreography. It’s hilarious!! I found out my daughter learned it when she went to summer camp, lo these eons ago!

Meanwhile, the toddler has been fed, changed, and put down for a nap. She must have been tired - she didn’t want to be rocked. So I have a couple of hours of peace ahead. FCD is home and he’s napping also - he’s not accustomed to being on his feed as long as he was this morning, and he has PT this afternoon. SIL is still in Annapolis and Daughter is still at her school. Peace and quiet is mine, for a bit.

Thel - I make an effort to keep my phone on me at all times, but especially when I’m by myself. I miss my flip phone, because it tucked nicely into my pocket, while my Android, even tho smaller, still protrudes. Maybe I need a phone pouch?

Morning, friends.

I still have not ordered groceries. Pathetic as it is, groceries are usually kind of the highlight of my life. New food. Options. The produce still (more or less) fresh and whatever treats I might have chosen still available. Look, I don’t have a whole lot to look forward to. It’s this and the car rides to and from doctor’s appointments when I can look out the window. I’m like a dog- living for food and car rides and the occasional human interaction. I’m beginning to understand why dogs chew up couches.

So true! The (ahem) garment I wear around the house does not have pockets and I don’t want to wear jeans when it’s 103 outside just to have the pocket. So yesterday I shopped here and bought two bags ('cause I can’t buy just one of anything). Well, heck, I’m not spending money on anything else. Except Sweetie, of course. I looked at phone bags on amazon, but they were tacky and ugly. I have a BlackBerry (diehard, me) in a leather case, so it’s a little bigger than iPhones. I also miss my flip phone, the BlackBerry style. Impossible to butt-dial with it.

Speaking of what we wear around the house (TMI may follow-- be warned): I just got new very smart hearing aids on Monday. They use a Bluetooth doo-dad to link them to my phone. (IPhones link directly, too bad so sad.) It has a microphone in it and clips onto your shirt if you’re wearing a shirt, so it has to be somewhere near your face. Or you can attach it to a lanyard and wear around your neck. But I’ve found that I can clip it to my bra. The trouble is, that means having to wear it around the house. Which means that this doesn’t apply.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s another damp and gloomy day here, been raining on and off for a while. The cats have decided to have an indoor sleeping day, and I quite feel like joining them. However, groceries must be got, so to the store I must go.

Tonight’s not my cooking night so I get to unpack groceries and then laze on the sofa for about half an hour before dinner is presented to me. It being Wednesday, and typically pub night, we might have had a beer or two but not tonight, I have an interview for a job tomorrow afternoon and need neither late night nor thick head in the morning!

This did elicit a LOL from me!

I just finished riding John Deere around the back yard - it looks less awful out there now. Daughter had come home and it was a perfect opportunity, what with everyone sleeping. But she’s gone now - on her way to my mom’s for the night - my sister and niece will be doing movies at the pool (Sis hangs a sheet from the bath house and projects a movie while they float in the pool. Rough life.)

Not sure when SIL will get back, but he’ll get Roxy once he does. Also not sure what supper will be. But I’ve got time to figure it out.

Morning y’all!

Back from the retinopathist and am good for another year. The dilation is wearing off enough to be able to read the desktop now. Nelson is taking spells of barking at the dogs on the documentary about the origin of dogs. He’s excited enough that I’ll likely take him to the dog park once it begins to cool down this afternoon.

Just got back from having some very loud pictures taken of my pituitary as my doc thinks that little glad has gone bonkers. I can barely find the pituitary in the images, much less evaluate it, so that’s why the radiologists get the big bucks.

I got about half my list done, not near enough but I am taking a break.
Getting the taxes finished was … well … my printer wouldn’t print and I wasn’t paying the fees taxact wanted to efile them, so off to best buy for a new printer. Then I couldn’t find my checkbook and stamps. Then I almost used the wriong checking account, then I transferred the wrong amount of money into the checking account, but that’s okay, it’s not like the checks will clear tomorrow.

We didn’t make it to the dump as it closes at three, but the time we went to the post office and car wash it was 2:30.

I got two text messages this morning wanting to know why I wasn’t at the park. One who never comes during the week, and the other hasn’t been there for a while. One of them thought I left because there was a nasty pit at the park, so maybe just as well I didn’t go.

Now that I sat down I don’t feel like getting back up.

NO MORE CATS MetalMouse.
Although I guess if it hangs outside I can’t stop it.
Echo plays too rough, I’d rather not bring another cat into the house.

Afternoon all. Have wasted another hot day (currently 94F) doing pretty much nothing, albeit I need to dump the recyclables into the big can and take it out tonight, so that will be my adulting thing. Been watching a YouTube channel by an Englishman named Noel Philips, who apparently has found a way to make a living flying places and talking about the flights. If I knew I could have made a career out of that…

Sari, with your luck the government will probably choose your taxes to audit…

gotti, loud pictures? now lewd ones I could understand…

Thel, since I live alone I tend to be ‘clothing optional’ during the day (albeit I have proper garments in reach if someone knocks on the door). Guess I’m lucky I don’t use Bluetooth…

Dot, I’m finding in these plaque days I am going shopping, usually for 1-3 items, much more often than I used to. Yesterday it was hamburger buns, tomatoes, and milk, today I added light bologna, kleenex, and celery to the list and may drop by the Wal-Mart for them.

talker, I’m thinking of buying a bicycle but getting my large rear end on a bike seat concerns me. We’ll see what happens. And congrats on becoming an embarrassment to your children…you have arrived at the edge of geezerhood!!!

boo fae, if I haven’t said it before, good luck with the interview.

Everyone take care now.

MetalMouse - I believe wide bike seats are a thing… I’m too lazy to Google, tho.

Speaking of taxes, I just sent an estimated payment to the Feds, but apparently none of us remember the password for our state account, and during the plague, there’s no one on the phones. I sent an email asking what to do. I couldn’t even find printable forms on the site. You’d think the state would make it easier to give them money!

Dunno what to do for supper, but I’s hongree!! Mebbe mac-n-cheese? Or take-out Mexican? I need to decide pronto.

Just a silly way to refer to MRI.

A 15 degree roof angle is about a 3:12 pitch

I worked, walked Gordie, showered, napped, walked Gordie again, did a load of laundry(the washing machine is no longer on strike), went to HT and Aldi, and walked Gordie again. I’m lying on the couch, possibly with The Vapors. Or too much blood in my alcohol. I’ll have a martini to see f it helps.

During the height of the shutdown, both Gordie and I would bark at the Infected.

OK, I’ll break the suspense. We had mac-n-cheese, steamed broccoli, and salad. It was quick and easy, which is all I was in the mood to deal with today. So now you know.

SIL had training for his second job - he’s gonna be busy this summer, but good for him!
