When's the last time you ate string cheese?

Several years, but probably less than ten. I don’t buy it, but I have occasionally run across it here and there at somebody’s house or once or twice at some dumb work thing.

It’s okay, I guess. Nothing repulsive about inexpensive low-moisture mozzarella. But on the infrequent occasions I actually want to snack on cheese that’s never going to be my preference. I use mozzarella pretty much exclusively to cook with and I wouldn’t use that stuff.

I saw and bought something recently that I thought it was string cheese. It was not, sadly.

So it’s been 1-10 years since I’ve had any. When my nephew was younger, string cheese was one of the foods his mom (my sister-in-law) would always have in the house, or while out for the day, and she was happy to shared. It was probably the same time I had certain fruit (or froot) snacks, goldfish crackers etc.

Bad string cheese is terrible. Good, fresh string cheese is food of the gods. I get mine from a local cheese factory, freshly made. Soooooo nice!

Had it not too long ago at at my mother in law’s who got it with a selection of other cheeses from a local high quality cheese shop. She put it out prestringing it …

Still not a fan. Time before was when my kids liked in their lunch bags decades ago.

So many tastier cheeses!

I don’t think string cheese was a thing when I was a kid. These were my preferred cheese-delivery methods.

I do seem to recall having a bag of string cheese packets once, though. If I did, it was probably around 5 to 10 years ago.

Gotta get it from the right factory. I’ve had a lot of less than pleasant cheeses from high end cheese shops (plus some AMAZINGLY great cheeses, so you never can tell).

Now please join me in a song praising cheddar.

I loved those little Handi-snack cheese and crackers packs as a kid - loved them. Yet, I always fervently avoided spray cheese to the point where I’ve never even tried some. The workings of the mind and taste are ever mysterious.

Yeah, string cheese wasn’t a thing when I was growing up. As such I lack even the lure of nostalgia to get me to buy it. However Qadgop’s fresh, quality stuff would absolutely be tempting.

I never buy string cheese. I prefer Colby jack cheese sticks. However, if string cheese is the only option, I will eat it. If a cat is also present, I tear off small strands and drop them on the beast for demonstrations of feline flexibility.

We generally have some in the house (usually cheddar, had more flavour) and I put some in my son’s lunch occasionally.

We ran out of regular brick cheese last week and I wanted cheese in a wrap, so I used one. It was fine for the purpose.

My wife likes to snack on string cheese so there’s usually some in the house. I’m not sure when I last ate some myself but it was probably within the last month. But next week we’ll be sharing a special Incident.
