Namibia, Samoa, Fiji
Reschedule our cancelled trip to Rapa Nui. Walking tour in Portugal. Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania/Belarus/Ukraine/Poland.
Ditto. Preliminary planning underway already (vehicle prep).
We’ve got a western Caribbean cruise (Cozumel and Grand Cayman Island) booked for Feb, tho I don’t expect it to happen. Or if it does happen, we won’t go if there’s not a proven COVID vaccine available.
We also have a New England/Canada cruise booked for Sept 2021 - I don’t expect that one to be canceled unless Canada won’t allow ships from the US to dock. We shall see.
We were caught in Italy in March 2020, had to leave early with five days left on the rental apartment . Might go back there. Our renewed passports should be here on Saturday!
I was supposed to be in Germany right now.
Well hopefully next year, same time. I have a policy of blanket refusal to go on any business trip till summer 2021.
I have a Boy’s Own road trip around the US still in planning. Won’t be for at least 12 months but still hopeful.
I used to claim there was no need to travel internationally because there are so many places to go within the United States. Now that I’ve seen most of the U.S. and realized there are many parts of it I need never see again, I’m re-thinking that stance.
I’ve only been to Europe once (11 days in France back in 2000), and it was nice. So after I get to Alaska - which will be my 50th state – I’ll consider another trip across the pond. Maybe the U.K. this time.
I also wouldn’t be mad if my wife dragged me back to Bora Bora. That was the best anniversary trip we ever had.
The last place I traveled before the pandemic was Mexico, and I really, really want to go back. I’ve heard Oaxaca is very nice, so maybe there, or maybe more of Baja than the little bit that I’ve visited on day trips from San Diego.
Also, definitely Ireland with the current junior-year residential Honors class at the university where I teach (we were supposed to go this past summer). That one might be a longer wait unless a vaccine happens very soon, since university-sponsored travel is currently banned.
Places I have never been but were really high on my list before all of this happened: Peru; Belize and / or Costa Rica; Japan and South Korea; South Africa
Other places I’ve been before but want to go again as soon as possible: Italy, Spain, England, Australia
Hmm, with a couple of exceptions this is starting to look like a laundry list of places hit hard by COVID. Oh dear…
Admit it. You’re just hoping to get to Grand Cayman and stay. It’s COVID free, at least at the moment.
I’m sure a trip to Colombia is order for me. More visit time with the Mrs Iggy side of the family.
I would love to visit Peru and Machu Picchu but I’m not so sure I could physically do that with my health right now. That leaves Israel as the next likely destination. At least there are some Holy Land tours designed for the disabled.
I visited Machu Picchu last fall and it is pretty well touristified, and not overly physical. You do not need to hike the Inca Trail to get there. A train takes you to a town not accessible by roads. You stay the night and wake up early to catch a bus that takes you up a winding road to the site. Once there you can make it as easy or as hard as you want with plenty of trails leading here and there. To just tour the ruins there are some stairs and uneven surfaces, but fairly well-developed. It’s much better in person than any photo. Cuzco was also lovely!
Same here. Vehicle prep and preliminary planning.
Alaska was my 50th state, too. I punched that off the list a few years ago, and next year I’m planning to go back to Alaska. It’ll be my 3rd time there.
nowhere.
Depending on the timing of when it becomes safe to travel again and how much vacation time we have saved up, with work busy seasons, back to Georgia (the country). We had hoped to go again this year, but for a variety of reasons (mostly involving my head injury and subsequent decision to quit my job), it didn’t happen. I’d love to see more of the country than Tbilisi.
Other fantasies? Brazil, India…so many places, so little time! I think I’d want at least 3 weeks off to do Inia, though.
Revisit favorite past locales – Québec, Halifax. London.
From the plans that have been put on hold: Mexico/Peru precolumbian sites; Mediterranean Europe.
A surf trip in Costa Rica. Postponed from March 2020 to August 2020 to November 2021. Hopefully I’ll get there before the 2030s.
I want to go to Quebec again next August. The New France Festive in Quebec City is right Montreal Pride so I can hit up both in one trip. I love Montreal.
I had plans for another train trip in Canada this year, hoping to be able to go in 2021. Vancouver to Toronto!
Japan. My wife’s family is there, but it’s also a fun place to be a tourist. Won’t be going until after a vaccine.
