Where do your shoes live?

To partner with the “How many shoes…” thread, where are your shoes when they’re not on your feet? Shoe room? Shoe closet? Shoe shelves? Shoe pile in the corner?

We have a small bench at the foot of our bed with 2 shelves - I use one and spousal unit uses the other. Only 4 pair will fit, so 2 more sit on the floor next to the bench. My slippers are under a step stool (I can’t reach the top closet shelf without it) and the rest are in the bottom of my closet. Except for the 3 ratty work-in-the-yard pairs - they’re in the garage just outside the door to the house.

The shoes that don’t fit on my husband’s shelf are either under his side of the bed or in the living room or next to his desk. He’s also got an old pair by the garage door for when he takes the dog out at night.

Do you know where your shoes are?

I have a fine shoe collection at work in a file drawer. Those account for about 50% of the shoes I own. Paddocks boots live next to the back door. Clogs and slippers are on my bedroom floor. The rest are in the closet on shoe racks. Winter boots are in the garage.

One pair of almost-not-shoes-anymore lives by the back door for when I mow the yard or engage in other yard work.
The rest live in my closet on the floor or in a shoe shelf thingee for that purpose.

I am curious as to why you want to know?

My every-day sandals and tennis shoes sit on the floor by the coat closet. Inside the coat closet are my winter boots and some various other shoes. Fancy shoes and sandals are in my bedroom closet, mostly in boxes.

I’m afraid to go in the “How many pairs of shoes?” thread because I don’t want to admit that while I hate shoes, have ugly shoes and ugly feet, and never have shoes that look good with what I’m wearing…I have a lot of shoes.

Not to sneak into your house and steal them, that’s for sure… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen TV shows where people have entire rooms dedicated to shoes, or entire closets. Then there are the pouch thingies that hang on the back of doors…

I’m bored - I’ve run out of work at the moment so I started this thread. But I’m *certainly *not using this to case any potential targets…

In a big pile by the front door.

This inside the closet with the sliding mirror doors.

In the closet by the front door.

Since our shoes tend to come off once we arrive home, they usually live in the living room.

In season: Shoe rack in walk-in closet
Out of season: Containers in spare room closet.

Regular use ones in the hall by the door (keep meaning to get a shoe rack, but I’ve not got round to it yet), smarter and occasional use ones in the bottom of the wardrobe, welly boots in the car.

Actually, my best shoes are in the car at the moment, I just keep forgetting to take them out. They don’t normally live there though.

They are mostly just piled up on the floor of the master bedroom closet.

Under and on the shoe shelf next to the back door for the shoes that are in season. In the coat closet for the ones out of season.

We’re finally done with snow, so I think it’s time to do the seasonal shoe swap.

My 3 pair of sneakers live near the kitchen(back) door - one pair for work, one pair for out-and-about and one pair of grubbies for yard or messy stuff outside. The rest live on the floor of my closet.

They hang around the living room. They may be near the front door, or under the table, or over by/under the armchair near the kitchen and laundry room. It depends on where I was when I last took that pair off.

I just checked. Right now, all three pairs I regularly wear appear to be gathered by the front door.

There are other pairs in the house–heels, boots, slip-ons–but I’d have to hunt for them to say exactly where they are.

I have a small closet in my kitchen, where I keep things like a mop and broom. When I enter my house, I kick off my shoes and leave them in front of this closet door. When it’s colder weather, I hang my coat on the closet door knob. That way, I know where my shoes and coat are as I’m leaving my house.

Most are in shoe rack in the closet, underneath the short clothes. I have my slippers next to the bed, ditto my walking around shoes.

I have three pair of sandals that inside the front door.

Mine are supposed to be at the foot of the bed, but they often end up in the computer room or living room if that is where I remove them (right now my tennis/walking/soccer shoes are sitting next to my chair as I type this)…to be moved to their proper place at a time To Be Determined.

Rack just inside the front door including our specialty shoes like the Colonials and my cycle boots. I will sometimes leave my work sneakers by the couch overnight though.
