I guess you’ve taken him already, but just in case- well, if you want a sit-around-the-table-with-a-pitcher type night with frat boys and loud girls, I’d go to Peel Pub (on Peel St and Ste Catherine) where most out-of-towners start off. You could also try Brewtopia, although a kid fell off the balcony and died a little while ago and that’s scary. But they have live music! If you want something posher, go to St. Laurent (not Crescent, as some poor souls are told. While Jacques Villeneuve’s bar is there, so are a hundred cheesy Don Johnson and Tammy Faye Bakker). Try Bifteque bar for a sitdown, or Tokyo, Angels or Jai Bar. You’ll have to pay cover for the last three, but come one, with the Canadian dollar like it is, it’s nothing to complain about.
