Where is my wallet?

Did you look near your computer? Maybe you actually tried to buy something else?

My husband and I had a big search for his glasses this morning. They were wayyyyy under his desk. We suspect the cat put them there.

Make sure you check the pockets of the clothes you wore last night, because I’m pretty sure you only checked the pockets of the clothes that kinda look like the ones you wore last night, but you forgot you had to change because the cat knocked over a can of soda on your pants right before you had to leave the apartment.

Check down your heating vents, if that’s possible.
Did you check the gutter outside your home where you exited the cab?

Yep. I checked everywhere but it is nowhere to be found. I have cancelled everything and I am getting new cards and a new ID sent to me. My wallet is forever lost now with all of the single socks found at the laundromat I suppose:(.

It’s been 4 days. You did call the credit card companies/banks/DMV/police report, right?

I’ve called the credit card companies and banks, but it didn’t occur to me to call the police. I will do that when I get home.

My guess is that you took your wallet out of your purse, took the money out and then set the wallet on the seat, got your change and closed your purse and left the wallet in the taxi.

BTW, this is a good time to remind people to every once in awhile, photocopy all of your documents in your wallet and store that copy at the bottom of your sock drawer or wherever. Should something like this happen, it makes it a lot easier to contact banks and credit card companies, as well as making it easier to get a new driver’s license by showing a copy of your old one.

Like I said, your wallet met my wallet (lost when I was on my way to La Guardia), and then they went out for drinks.

The only ID saved was my driver’s license, which I had taken out and placed with my boarding pass.

I’ve just sent a letter for a police report (since, hey, I’m not in the city). Sigh

Look under that pile of CDs and DVDs to the left of your computer. It might be buried in there. My brother’s was…

When you came back to the apartment after getting out of the taxi, you shuffled the card back but decided that sticking the wallet back in the purse was just a bother since you’re right by your apartment, anyway. So you kept your wallet in your hand while you fumbled with your key and then put it on top of the shelf right by the door. During the night, it fell down and landed behind your wall-panel oven.

Okay, weirdness on the wallet front…

I cancelled my cards and I mailed off a request for a replacement license and all that jazz. Next on my list is a police report followed by a replacement library card. I have not yet advised the library that I lost my card. I just got the following message in my email inbox:

How did they know?!?!

How odd. Could someone have found (stolen) your wallet and be calling around for replacement cards, and asking that they be sent to a their address? Although I don’t know why a thief would bother with a replacement library card.

Someone found it stolen? I know I lost my credit card not too long ago (a month before I lost my wallet with the new one)… but I hadn’t yet noticed it. I thought it was at home, and was waiting to go there after work to check.

Well, I got a phone call and email from the credit card company (AmEx), stating that someone found my card and had contacted them to report it as stolen. Whoever it was didn’t use it, and probably discarded it. But otherwise, I wouldn’t have known until later… much later.
