Where To Stay in Paris?

Okay, Dopers, this may be a bit of a difficult one.

Say you were going to stay in Paris for two weeks. Money isn’t entirely no object, you don’t want to pay $5,000 a night but you’re willing to part with a substantial amount of cash for your hotel accomodations during your stay. You need a suite, reasonable privacy, good room service and somewhat posh – but not extravagant – amenities.

Area of the city isn’t a big issue.

Where would you stay?

What do you define as a ‘substantial amount of cash’ for a hotel room?

For some people, that’s $2,000 a night. For others, that might be $250 a night.

Let’s say, for a one-bedroom suite, <$2,500 a night.

[edits mine] $2500/night is only somewhat posh?!!! I was going to recommend the Hostelling International hostel near metro Hoche, but your spending range maxes out at about a hundred times what mine did.

Should I have mentioned that this is for a work of fiction, and the person who will be staying at this hotel is a millionaire, but a millionaire on a budget?

Yes, $2,500 is posh, and now that I’m doing a little more research, probably more posh than I intended. The Coco Chanel suite at the Ritz Paris is $4,300 a night. I’m thinking that what I want is nice, but perhaps one step (or half a step) down from The Ritz.

Anybody have any ideas? Are there any Parisian (or travel agent) Dopers with some knowledge?

Strike that, I’ve just putzed around at the Ritz’s website a bit more, and I think I’ve answered my own question. It’ll do, it’ll do nicely.

Yes, I do research like this for all of my fiction writing. I’m a detail-oriented person.
