Where's My Discworld Casting Thread?

I’d much prefer Christopher Lee as Death. Ian McKellen is a bit warm 'n fuzzy for the character imho. :slight_smile:

Wee Free Men . . . So what child actress should play Tiffany Aching?

The Discworld’s Death is kind of warm ‘n’ fuzzy. That’s what makes him an interesting character.

I would argue that when we first meet Death, he isn’t warm n fuzzy. It’s really through his interactions with Mort and Susan that he obtains a degree of fuzziness.

A friend and I were recently discussing how since the advent of House, M.D. we could seriously see Hugh Laurie as Vimes.

That would be fantastic.

I second Ian McKellan’s voice for Death, because he can be pretty badass when he needs to be. Alan Rickman would be good as Vetinari if he dropped a few pounds–he’s very muscular, and I’ve always pictured the Patrician as rake-thin.

Who’s the girl who played Hugh Grant’s love interest in Love Actually? She’d make a good Lady Sybil.

The girl who plays Susan in Chronicles of Narnia, she might be able to pull it off.

The Love, Actually actress isn’t big and commanding enough. No idea who would be, though.

Rob Zombie = Reg Shoe. :smiley:

Felicity Huffman! :smiley: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407265/

Rhys Ifans = Rincewind
Ridcully = Brian Blessed
Nobby = Rowan Atkinson
Carrot = Brendan Fraser (Have you seen him in Mummy and More serious roles?)
Bursar = Hugh Grant
Vetenari = Alan Rickman
Angua = KAtee Sackhoff
The Dean = John Goodman

Angua = Denise Richards
Rincewind = Simon Pegg
Vimes = Jerry Doyle
Vetinari = Timothy Dalton
Death = Nigel Planer
Nobby = Harry Dean Stanton (imagine him claiming to be “probably 34” with a straight face these days).
Detritus = Nigel Planer

Too short, too round. Maybe as Colon, if Thin Blue Line/Knight’s Tale/Full Monty’s Mark Addy cant be arsed - he’s getting old enough to do it now, I think.

Tony Robinson is Nobby, if that’s not typecasting. Rowan Atkinson’s not nearly crusty enough, The Gaspode.

but I really like Rhys Ifans as Rincewind, BTW

I see Melany Lynskey as Agness Nitt.

The Tooth, Denise Richards? Am I being wooshed? Angua’s a lot more than a set of tits - Why do you hate Pratchett? :slight_smile:

She’s the first one I thought of too, but she’s way too old. Tiffany’s only 9 in the first book, after all, and the girl who played susan is 17. I don’t like the girl who played Lucy, either.

I think Rowan Atkinson would make a better Rincewind. He’s got the furtive-little-rat-faced-coward thing down pat.

I think Brad Pitt would be perfect as Ponder Stibbons.

… what?

I kid you not. I think she has the perfect look for Angua. And we aren’t talking Shakespeare here.

I was thinking Matt Damon.

No, we’re talking actresses who can, you know, act. The character of Angua has more depth than a slightly damp sponge.

It may be type casting, but I think Kate Beckinsale would be a perfect Susan Death.

I’ll vote for Katee Sackhoff as Angua. She doesn’t exactly look, well, lupine, but she does look like a woman who could get taken seriously as a police recruit (and as Carrot’s love interest).
