Where's The New MMP!

We have half a pizza leftover from night before last. We have orange chicken and rice (for The Missus) and Thai BBQ chicken for me from last night. I had a piece of chicken for breakfast, and Wifey had some orange chicken and rice for lunch. I figured we’d have the pizza tonight.

I happened to mention I bought some frozen clam meat when I went to the store, because I thought I’d make chowder sometime. SWMBO said, ‘Oh, that sounds good. Can you make it tonight?’ So I had to put my shorts on (it’s over 40º here) and go down to the corner market for celery and an onion. It’s almost done.

That would be my choice as well!

I just discovered that I sent the schedule of servers for services in February to everyone but the other Verger. It’s only a matter of time before I go the home, I guess. :worried:

@Paintcharge

Thanks

Had a nap where I didn’t know if it was day or night when I woke. Still sleepy too.

It was yum. And we have about 2 quarts left. (Pretty good for one quart of milk.)

Oh. Well. Bless her heart, she was trying.

Folks who study such things are starting to think that cats weren’t “domesticated” to kill rodents, cats moved into human places because humans made tasty garbage and then domesticated humans. Because they were eating bad food, they learned to be very picky eaters because one bite might be good, but the morsel of food right next to it could make them sick.

I’m not saying your hubby learned the same unconscious defense mechanism, but it’s worth thinking about.

HOLY COW!!! I sure hope you get that straightened out quickly.

Excellent news. Maybe now things can get back to what passes as normal for the ChatFamily. You sure do deserve it.

I agree but some people are just soooo picky. I’ve found a regular sized used fridge that we are going to go and look at tomorrow. If it will fit, we can do things to make it warm enough for brewing beer on the bottom and see if we can use the top freezer for blue cheese. We are both pretty doubtful that we will be able to get the temp high enough, but the interwebz say we can. If that works, I can put my converted fridge on the other side of the room to make sure that I don’t cross contaminate things. According to everything I’ve read, blue cheese spores are sneaky and insidious.

Poor lil guy probably needs some bloodwork. Cats are alpha predators in their own minds so they don’t want to show signs of weakness or illness. Until they can’t hide it anymore and you end up paying tons of money to take kitty to the vet in the middle of the night on a long weekend.

I’m excited for you, that looks amazing. Please remember to take pics of the fabric before you start cutting it so I can get a better idea of the textures.

The BOM we have almost finished was very poor material. It was too stretchy and frayed at a mere touch. This is a batik that is almost delicious. It is smooth and has great body.
I will get pictures up tomorrow.

How disappointing! It is really hard to do quality work with poor materials. Are you going to bother backing and finishing it, or is it a wall hanging?

Now that I think about it, what do quilters do with their finished projects once all of their walls and beds are full? My projects are flat things that can be stacked into a storage bin, quilts would take a storage bin each. I’m sure you gift them to people but after a while they are full to. I can’t imagine selling something like that, you couldn’t make enough to pay for your time so you would feel like your skills had been devalued.

Ain’t modern technology amazing!

Quoted for truth!

GG caught another mouse and was in the process of playing it to death when VBC took it away from him and brought it inside. When she saw me coming after her, she dropped the mouse and it tried to scamper away so GG pounced. I took GG and mouse back out into the catio and shook GG until he dropped the mouse.

The stupid mouse skittered off through the lattice, I’m really hoping the darn thing survives long enough to go home and tell his family to never go into the cat cage after water.

Le sigh. This is Arizona. If you feed the birds, you attract rodents. Mice attract kingsnakes, which are cool in my book, Kangaroo Rats attract rattlesnakes which isn’t so cool IMHO. I’m not hating on rattlesnakes, I just would rather they lived down the street.

Our plans for tomorrow are to go through the outbuildings to see if we have rodents in one of them.

I washed the sheets this morning and then walked 6 miles today. I saw a gaggle of 51 geese feeding in a grassy area. Then I saw 4 white ducks, uh, ducking. I thought only domesticated ducks were white. They were pure white. I’ll try to post a photo later. Old Flame called tonight. I do appreciate a man who can keep me in stitches (the nonsurgical kind).

Hippy, the quilt design is beautiful and complex, and I can’t wait to see the finished piece.

bumba, I don’t know much a bout heart stuff, but 162 sounds scary high to me.

FCM, is Higgs’ medicine flavored? I’ve only given dog medicine in pill form. Do they flavor liquid meds for dogs like they do for kids?

shady, yikes on the utilities bill. That’s insane.

You are very wise. He also has texture issues, especially if chicken is a bit undercooked, which perfectly matches this theory.

Poor GG, there’s no brain cells leftover for him.

And yummy!

Looking forward to seeing the progress pictures - everything you’ve shared is gorgeous.

My grandfather started a quilt in his 20s, and my mom got it finished for him when he was in his 70s. So he wasn’t a very fast quilter.

My aunt, when she did do quilter, made one for all the cousins, and then when her kids got married, for their maritial bed, etc. My parents’ church has a quilting society, and they make quilts to donate. Once a year they bring all the quilts to the church and put them on the pews, so people can see the quilts before they are shipped off - it is amazing to see the sea of quilts.

Yesterday we caught up on laundry and changed the sheets. Today is more paperwork for taxes, then I have to make shredded chicken before making chicken enchiladas. I think I’ll have enough for 4-6 meals, which is definitely worth the effort.

Also have a coconut cookie recipe try out and we should go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful blue sky. Today’s high is 6°C / 42°F, which is a lot better than sub-freezing temps.

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 51 and cloudy with a WIND ADVISORY in effect. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I have Verge duty today. After we deheathenate, I have an Acolyte trainin’ session to do. I keep the sessions short, no more than twenty minutes. They are designed for the pre-teen Acolytes to help them remember all the stuff that needs doin’. After that we shall grab some kinda MCN.O.L. and head back to da cave for general sloth and uselessness the rest of the day.

JtC GG is a mighty hunter! Hope the fridge idea works out for y’all.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “Who cares about the weather? When was the last time you ate a vegetable? Maybe it’s time to eat a fucking vegetable!” I’m good, I had veggies in last night’s dinner and there will be veggies in lunch and dinner today, enough to keep Weather App happy.

hippie that is a beautiful pattern, and what to my untrained eye looks very ambitious! I hope you enjoy putting it all together, and give us plenty of progress pics.

Cookie 'im indoors takes a turmeric supplement along with a whole load of other things. I stick with multivits, turmeric and evening primrose oil because I’m not a great believer in woo either but if something is recommended by a trusted source then I will at least give it a try.

JtC I’ve been trying Whisper on various cat foods over the weekend and he’s had some of the generic supermarket brand so I’m inclined to think that his favourite brand has changed and is no longer to his liking. We’ll give him another day as he’s definitely had some food, and some of the various types of kibble around the house, but if he’s not properly back on his food tomorrow then he will be off to see the vet.

Taters I am so sorry about all the trauma with Polar. He is lucky to have people who will take the time and effort to care for him like you do, rather than scolding him for an inappropriate poo.

I’ve had a busy morning - fed the cats, changed litter trays and put fresh water in their bowls, put some dye on my hair, hunted around for the spare vacuum cleaner so I can make an attempt to clean the house up a bit, and renewed my travel pass as I am back on campus tomorrow.

I had been organising a collection for a friend who injured herself recently and we now have enough money for something very special for her. She ordered a sheet of hand-written lyrics for a song that she loves from the guy who sings it. On his online shop, he also offers a personal video recording with a special dedication and we have enough money from very generous friends to have that same song recorded for her. And enough left over for some flowers so today is turning out to be a very happy one.

JtC, it sounds like GG has become the mighty mouser. With any luck, he’ll keep your house mouse-free for you.

That’s sweet of you to find somethinig for your friend that she’d like BooFae.

Up, caffeinating, a pot of pintos in the crock and one of greens on the stove and fixing to make breakfast. Not much shaking at CasaRoja today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!! You made a funny joke!!! Normal - the very idea!!!

That was me with my knitting and crocheting - and that’s how I got hooked up with AARP and donating the afghans and such. But I have to say, I’m glad to be on a hiatus of sorts - I’m tired of yarn work for a while.

They stood still long enough to be counted?

Dunno and I don’t plan to do a taste test. Besides, have you ever seen a pug eat? They don’t take time to taste - just grab up a mouthful and swallow!! Higgs could lose all her teeth and she’d still not have to change her diet!! Anyway, I get the syringe in so the squirt goes right down her little throat… I think… It’s hard to tell exactly.

It’s been a weird morning so far. FCD woke well before the alarm (big surprise) so I was awake also. He was on the road by 4AM. I tried to read a little but I was falling asleep, so I set the tablet aside. Then my brain went into overdrive, so I got my tablet out again. Shortly after 5, I put the tablet up and thought about getting up. Apparently I fell asleep because next I knew (weird dream aside) my phone was ringing at 7 - FCD called to make sure he was going the right way. I guess he trusts me more than GPS?

There’s a stretch in western PA where I-70 and I-76 are the same road, but the signs pretty much all say 76, so he was concerned. But he’s fine. Personally, I prefer to pick up I-68 and go thru western MD to cross the mountains, then take I-79 north to pick up 70 again. Anyway, he just stays on 70 all the way to Indy, then goes around the city and exits west to get to Avon. More than any of you wanted to know, but I’m bored and rambling.

There was noisy precip when I let Higgs out - little frozen pellets. It’s still precip-ing but I don’t know if it’s liquid or solid, and frankly, I don’t really care for the moment. I’d like to run to WalMart and Aldi, but if I have to put that off till tomorrow, it’s no biggie. The main thing I need to do today is spot-clean the carpets. After I shower and dress. Which comes after I finish my morning intrarwebz routine, which this is part of.

Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean, possibly nap, and watch Super Handegg. It’s currently rainy and 39 degrees ferret height, with a windchill of 31. Rah.

Wonder if it also made him a GG class mouser?

Well, there’s no doubt that FCD and his aunt are of the same gene pool. He just called me from north of Pittsburgh. He completely missed the exit where 70 splits from 76, so about a 50 mile scenic detour. Honestly, I don’t know how he ever makes his way thru unfamiliar territory. His mind wanders and he just drives on. I’ve gotten calls from him for over 35 years asking for directions.

Good thing he’s cute, because he’s a lousy navigator.

MONSOON!
(I like saying that word. Also, it is raining heavily.*)

*Is that sentence frickin’ compete enough for you, Discourse?

Taters you should totally be able to treat yourself to some ice cream after that. How come the dog is the only one that gets some??

jane doe Homemade blue cheese flavored cream cheese? You can sends that all to me…

moooom normal is just the setting on the dryer…

doggio I am hearing that in my inner the tick voice.

Yep, it’s Stooper Bowl day. We’ll be going over to the parental units. I’m not nearly as excited about the game as I would have been if my Bengals were in it, but such is life. Also getting a chocolate pie, so there’s that.

Went and got my deheathen on yesterday. Nothing much going on today. I’ve already shopped for groceries and shopped for my daddy’s birthday present, so Imma do laundry and Sabbath school stuff, then treat myself to an Oreo red velvet cake milkshake.
Hippie Sunday, all!

I have a horrible sense of direction myself. At least I have the sense to follow Waze/Google Maps instructions when I’m in unfamiliar territory. I still have a couple of navigational challenges in this area, though. There’s a section where the I-80 is also part of another freeway referred to as the Business 80. If I’m not VERY careful with lane selections, I’ll get on the wrong one and I-80 has a way of putting me in a neighboring county even if that’s not where I meant to go.
