Where's The New MMP!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 33 degrees and cloudy. The expected high is 48 with cloudy to partly cloudy skies for the day.

We had to give Polar a bath yesterday because he had some stuff on his back end. What a dramatic affair! It used to be, we could snap his leash on and lead him upstairs to the bathroom. Unfortunately, he figured out our shenanigans about six months ago, so it’s a huge battle to get him up the stairs. Yesterday was no different, and not even doggy ice cream would tempt him. In fact, he was so stressed he dropped two tiny poos on the stairs.

We opted to use the guest bath to bathe him since it’s a “normal” sized tub and shower enclosure and we figured it would be easier for him to get in and out. I had already filled the tub part way so he could have a nice soak to loosen those crusty bits. While I got him settled in the tub, I left the husband with him and went out to the stairs to take care of his two tiny turds. While I was doing that, I heard howling and came back in to discover that he had pooed in the tub…like, A LOT! :expressionless: :nauseated_face: He saw me, howled some more, spun in a circle, and smeared poo all over the back wall of the tub enclosure.

I then had to wipe his back end, get him out of the tub, drain the tub, clean the tub, fill the tub again, and wash him again. What a nightmare. We were both traumatized. He got doggy ice cream to take the edge off the trauma, I only got Motrin to take care of the sore back. I think he got the better deal.

I am thinking about doing some steam cleaning today. The hallway and stairs need it, as well as the great room. Did I tell you how much I HATE carpet? I loathe it!

I read but retained little. Sending yays, hugs, and boos as needed.

I hope you all have a terrific day!

Happy Saturday!

It’s been… I don’t know… just weird, I guess.
Life is out of whack
I’m out of sorts
I’m dragging myself through the shit on my list
A lot of it is making decisions, and I am burned out on that

Ripple is good
No issues with Palladia, yet

I have a lot of catching up to do around here.

I have a lot of catching up to do.

Belated happy birthday, doggio!! :partying_face:

So far today I’ve approved my direct reports’ timesheets, payed my bills, filed my taxes (happily I only owe the feds $3 more than I’ll be getting from the state), initiated a transfer of my Venmo balance to my bank account, and spent time on some volunteer stuff. I should go to CVS today, to pick up one prescription and check on another, but I kinda don’t wanna. There’s no hurry on either script, so I’ll likely put it off for another day or two. Which means I get to do a lot of slothing between now and dinnertime…yay!

I decided to skip my friend’s daughter’s farewell shindig in MD tonight (I’ll send her a card and a check), and instead will be going out to hear a yacht rock cover band at a local venue. I’m looking forward to that, and also to seeing the friends I’ll be going with. When I mentioned “yacht rock” to a few folks this week, some had no idea what I was talking about: in case it’s also a new term to any of y’all, here’s the Wikipedia entry. :notes:

I experienced a new-to-me scam this week: getting an unauthorized invoice via PayPal. Not just an email that looks like an invoice, I logged into my account (separately) and some dude is trying to charge me $1500 for an iPhone. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: PayPal says “You can safely ignore this invoice if you’re not buying anything from this seller,” and I have, but so far I’ve gotten two invoice reminder emails – including one just a few minutes ago – and each one makes me slightly annoyed all over again. *sigh*

In some positive news, to everyone’s great surprise my uncle’s condition seems to be improving! He’s still in the ICU with multiple issues, and there’s still a chance he could crash again and not be able to be revived, but there have been one or two slight improvements in the past few days and we all have our fingers crossed. At this point there’s very little chance of a funeral preempting next weekend’s jazz festival plans, and it’s good to no longer have that selfish timing concern in the back of my mind.

In other happy family news, this time on my mom’s side, my cousin’s daughter is getting married in September and the “save the date” card arrived this week! :smiley: It’ll be the first wedding for that generation, and I’m really looking forward to it (even though it makes me feel super old).

Tomorrow will be my first event as the membership chair of my NAACP branch: there’s a “Justice and Legislative Sunday” being held at a local Baptist church, and we’ll have a table as part of it. It’ll also be my first Baptist service! I’m not at all religious/faithful (despite being raised Catholic), but I have zero problem with religion or people who believe and I’ll be happy to sit quietly and respectfully during the service…just maybe in the very back row, so I can surreptitiously check my phone from time to time. :wink: Anyway, I’ll get there at 9:00am to set up our table, the service will be from 10:00-11:30, then I’ll hang out at our table for an hour or so afterwards. It’s fitting that we have an event tomorrow, because it’ll be the 114th anniversary of the founding of the NAACP.

Fun times with Polar, Taters! :grin:

Ugh. :frowning: I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the chemo option.

:people_hugging:

If the knee pain is from arthritis or other joint issues, I will recommend trying a turmeric supplement. Now, I am the biggest anti-woo person you can imagine. I don’t take vitamin supplements other than a dose of D once in awhile in the winter, I don’t believe in vitamin C as a cold remedy, nor in crystals or seances.

But I’ve been in a lot of arthritic knee pain over the past months, and after getting little relief from steroid injections, I decided to try turmeric after talking to a fellow knee sufferer. What can it hurt, right? To my utter surprise and relief, I started getting relief after a few days. Now, as with most supplements, there is no prescribed dosage. The gelcaps I bought are 1500mg and the directions say 3/day. I take two with meals. Turmeric is notoriously difficult to absorb, so the caps have additional ingredients to assist with that. Anyway, I mentioned it to my RN niece, who has some serious foot pain. She started taking it and reported almost immediate relief.

Could it be confirmation bias? Sure. But there are some studies that support the anecdotal evidence, and it can’t hurt you.

I had a PayPal account but I think I closed it - surely haven’t used it in eons. But I still get emails saying a purchase for this or that is being charged and if it’s an error, to call their toll free number. Yeah. I’ll get right on that, after I finish deleting the email.

I get similar emails saying a bunch of dollars have been charged to my VISA and if it’s in error… the difference there is I have my VISA account set up to notify me or any on-line charge or any POS charge over $25. It’s very reassuring.

Cookie - interesting about turmeric - I may give it a shot. My mom is big on glucosamine/condroiton but it did nothing for me - I took it for months, then stopped and noticed no difference. She swears by it, tho. Who knows…

I’ve unloaded the dishwasher, stacked the logs that were the right length. There are some that need to be cut in half, but I didn’t feel like getting out my chain saw. Plus there are more in the big pile by the shop - maybe I’ll go out in a bit with the wagon and move them to the new stack.

I’ve also got a load of towels to fold. But for the most part, I’m done choring.

Lily “here’s the reply” ughhhhhh! government beauracy at its worst.

I’ve made a schedule of the menu and food list for our trip to Chicago showing what I need to take and what I’ve requested our daughter to acquire. Thanks flyboy for mentioning Thai food. I had one dinner that I wasn’t sure about. I’ve now put Thai on the schedule. There are 3 or 4 pretty good Thai restaurants quite close to their apartment. Bella will just have to go in her crate while we go out for one dinner.

:rofl:

boofae “That pause at the top makes all the difference!” Thanks boofae! it’s been at least 3+ years since I’ve used the leg extension machine and I’d forgotten about this.

BLT’s for lunch, I put mayo on my toast, Hubs puts peanut butter on his. I filtered water this morning 3-1/2 gal. Going to make Gluten Free Orange Cardamom Almond Flour Cookies this afternoon and hopefully go for a walk. For dinner we’ll have NY strip steak, baked N.O.T., a salad and honey roasted root vegetables.

Thanks Cookie I’ll give the tumeric a try.

Bit of a long day, in part because I had to rebox a turkey(plastic, not frozen, live, or 101 proof) There was some sort of wreck on the way to work. I can’t find any details, but there 4 fire engines, and 30 cop cars at the intersection. But bacon and aigs have been consumed, laundry started, now naptime before hockey.

And how.

Oof, Taters.

{{{{sari}}}}

:open_mouth: I barely pay that in a year.

I’m pulling for Team State Farm, too.

I stacked a bunch of wood. Tons more to go, including 2 small piles I hadn’t seen. But until FCD and I can cut up some of the longer logs, I’m not going to do any more. We’ll get a splitter in the spring and we’ll have to build another wood rack somewhere… I think we’ll be good for at least 2 years of wood-burning. Maybe longer if winters stay mild.

Towels are folded and put away. I think I’m done for the day, except for eventually throwing something together for supper.

Here’s hoping the chemo works for OverlyMom.

WowTaters, just wow!

We spent the day yesterday visiting an ortho for Wifey and then shopping our way back home. You maybe remember the pain Wifey has in her hip region. yes? Well she finally completed all the chiropracty and physical therapy she needed to do before the insurance would let her see an ortho. He took x-rays and when he looked at them he said “yikes!” He doesn’t want to do anything to her hip joint 'cause the part of her spine visible on the x-rays is a mess and he can’t guarantee results. He suggested she get a shot into the joint. She’s gonna do that and try to find an ortho in network who can and will do that kind of surgery. :rage:
Also, last night I wasn’t feeling too pretty good when I went to bed last night and had to get up. On a hunch I checked my pulse. It was 162! :scream: I think that counts as afib. Anyway I was uncomfortable enough that I spent the night in my recliner. It’s back down to 51 right now but I’ll for sure call my cardiologist on Monday and book a visit. I haven’t had afib for a couple of years, and then only for, like, 3 seconds. I may have to go back on blood thinners or something. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Another pill, Joy. :roll_eyes:

Enough! y’all have a wonderful weekend.

That country listing thing is a challenge. We had a couple of cruises in the period they asked about, so I think I got all the countries. Since the pandemic, I’ve only been to the Camino in Spain, so 2020 on is easy enough.

Hippie, pretty!

Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy, icky day, so we are indeed glad to be inside and dry. We have slothed, napped, snacked, and had hawt chawklit with a hefty shot of dark rum. I really like hawt chawklit and dark rum. At some point leftovers will get heated up and et, but no big hurry there.

Taters quite the adventure with Polar!

Oopsie glad things seem stable with your uncle for now. Enjoy yacht rock tonight. Glad you included the Wikkie link. I had no idea. Apparently I like yacht rock.

Hippie that will be one purty quilt when it’s done.

Bumba hope the wife and you get your ailments sorted out soonest.

@swampbear
@susan
@peedin
@dogbutler
@FairyChatMom

Thanks! I am looking forward to the challenge This will unfold over the next twelve months so I will have time to figure it out

I just did a long distance favor. My little sister (she’s 42) is trying to do some sound deadening between her apartment and the neighbor, so she was at the Lowes looking for homasote, I looked up online where it was and was able to tell her where it was in the store. The Lowes site letting you find stuff by aisle and bay is quite useful. I’m in upstate NY and she’s just outside of Boston.

taters Glad the poo emergencies got fixed.

hippie That’s one beautiful quilt. Looks like a lot of work, so have fun!

bumba My best wishes to wifey. And to you, for all the health issues.

FCM Do y’all have seasoned wood to burn this year? I’m no expert, but I’ve always heard that burning newly cut down wood is “not good.” Or was that tree dead for a while?

bumba 162 would send me to the ER for chemical conversion. I had SVT and finally had an ablation. You know you don’t mess around with arrhythmias!

I read years ago that chondroitin/glucosamine would possibly work, but only if you ate about three pounds a day.

It’s been dead about a year. I already burned 3 or 4 smaller pieces and it did just fine. Plus a couple of the branches fell last year and I’d cut them up and just about burned them all. It’s oak - very tight grain. Probably would have made beautiful furniture, but no one around here will buy just one tree. So it shall burn.

Is that regular or extra strength?? :rofl:

Supper was easy and early. I had a smoked turkey tit in the freezer that I nuked to warmth. And a twice-baked spud (a BIG 'un) that I nukelated to thaw, then finished in the toaster oven. And peas that also started out frozen. I gave Higgs a bigger portion of rice and chickie and she pretty much inhaled it. I think she’s back to normal. She’ll get chickie and rice for breakfast, then I’ll mix some kibbles in it for supper. I’m glad her meds are in a syringe - I just pry her jaws open and squirt it in. She’s not happy about it, but I do it just before I feed her, so it gets the taste out of her mouth - assuming it’s an unpleasant taste.

Anyway, I’m done for the day. FCD plans to crash around 8:30 (dunno if he can, since he napped in his recliner) and I may just go back at the same time. Waking at stoopit o’clock the last few nights has worn me out.

So, chillage shall commence as soon as I mosey back to my recliner.

I don’t have a significant cardiac history, but I’m pretty sure if I informed my doctor my heart rate was that high, she’d be ordering me straight to ER, do not stop at Urgent Care.

We have supped and cleanded up the kitchen. It’s still rainy out. Much chillage and netflix shall ensue.

VanGo cool thing you did for sis. Ain’t the intartoobz wunnerful for stuff like that!

Cookie I might manage three pounds per day if’n it was chawklit flavored.

MOOOOOM glad that HIggs is pretty much back to herself.

Me, too. Except I don’t have a Mahomes jersey, mores the pity. I’ve been invited to watch the Super Bowl with the grandbabies, who both DO have Mahomes jerseys. We are raising them right after all.

That’s one beautiful project that you’re embarking on hippy.

taters, my late Uncle Jim used to say that you never realized the love that you had for a creature, whether human or canine, until you’ve fished a turd from a bathtub. Polar definitely is loved.

Messed around in the studio, downloaded a couple of CDs to MP3, made a batch of oatmeal - raisin mini muffins, picked up a prescription and took Nelson to the dog park. Now to play around in the studio some more.
