Where's The New MMP!

Laundry is done. Then we moved the couch and found enough hair to build another Ziva. The area has been vacuumed and steam cleaned and a fan is blowing across it. Tomorrow we should be able to move it back and I can clean the rest of the floor. I also plan to stack firewood tomorrow.

Higgs is eating and acting more like herself. We’ll finish her course of meds, and I won’t give her regular kibbles for a few more days. But I think she’s out of danger. So that’s a relief.

But till tomorrow, let there be chillage.

flyboy, the squirrels here are leaving all kinds of little holes where they’ve buried acorns (we have a lot of oak trees, no doubt some squirrel planted). Nelson has to stop at each one to sniff.

Houseirk is done, groceries bought and I’m kicking back in the studio with the 1961 West Side Story on.

Feline spring fever?

No cake, but there is a Tanqueray martini, so I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Just avoid the Norwegians.

ongrats on the renewal, Boofae.

Maybe explain to him that the danger noodles like Chinese food, too. :cat: :snake:

You got a lot on your plate, don’t worry.

:slightly_smiling_face:

OOF! We went for Thai food tonight. I had a small bowl of tom kha gai, and I ordered the Thai BBQ chicken – half a chicken. I ate the soup, had two Singha beers, and I managed to eat half of a chicken breast. I’m stuffed to the gunnels. The Missus had orange chicken, rice (I gave er my rice inaddition to her own, in exchange for her broccoli in addition to my own) a Thai iced tea, and a Singha. She only made a dent in her orange chicken. She’s stuffed too. She said she’s stress-testing her wardrobe.

I almost replied to a religious/LGBTQ+ thread. Thought better of it.

doggio hippy burpday!

Happy Birthday doggio! I agree with the others, nobody should have to work on their birthday!

hehehe

Before the world ended, our UPS and FedEx guys would bring our heavy stuff inside for us if asked but money always changed hands.

Perish the thought. The reward for getting your work done too fast is more work!

Good for her. It’s pretty scary when our lil garbage guts don’t want to eat.

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of pears to begin with, a glop of mayo would be enough to convince me that pears really are not food after all.

That’s good, your stress levels will stop raising over the “what if thoughts” in the middle of the night. It is important to remember that easy, fast and good results don’t usually motivate folks to post about it online, they are too busy being happy to spend time going over the minutia. For the most part, you only hear about the hard bad cases and can just scare yourself sleepless and that won’t help anyone.

Cause we are all juvenile here

Thanks for the nice thoughts, the cream cheese came out well and I’m happy with the feta. I was stoned when I started the ricotta and dumped goat milk whey in with the cow milk whey. The results looked and smelled and tasted like regular ol’ ricotta but I’ve already got many sheets of ingredient labels that say nothing about goat milk, so at least three quarters of it is going to birds.

No big loss, I don’t have much call for ricotta nowadays, I just make it cause cheesemaking puts me into my Earth Goddess persona and I don’t want to waste anything!

I started making cheese because I wanted to supply my Blue Cheese habit. Now that we have floor space in the hobby room I’m thinking about buying another fridge to McGuiver into another cheese cave because if I let the blue cheese molds escape ALL of my cheese will taste like blue cheese. While that would be a good thing in my mouth, if I’m selling cream cheese, folks expect it to taste like cream cheese, not a lovely nice creamy blue cheese spread. Philistines.

I knew jays were smart, I didn’t know they are that smart. The jays here hit up my feeders and fill their beaks to stash the food in the tops of the big pines. The ravens know that the jays do this and will raid the tops of the trees a couple of times a year. The outraged screams and calls to arms can be heard a block away and the cats love to go out in their catio to watch the aerial display.

He had a very deprived childhood, poor man.

Which is how you know you are alive.

Waves at Pearl. I am SO happy the Super Bowl is going to be over this weekend. I am soooo tired of hearing about it. I know that football (it is football, right?) fans love it and I know that it’s a big deal and than it is bringing a LOT of money to the state, but I’m just tired of it.

OTOH, a friend who lives in Glendale has rented her three bedroom home out for the weekend. I’m not sure how it came about, but the company who is handling it supposed to be pretty good at this sort of stuff. They will be getting fifteen grand out of it, so have booked rooms in Prescott. We have plans to get together and not talk about the game or worries about people going through her underware drawer.

This morning we both woke up before 7:00 and weren’t getting back to sleep, so we got up. Might even have breakfast, on a Saturday, before 8:30. Nice to catch up on sleep.

Today’s fun? Putting the tax papers together for the accountants. I have chicken thawing in the freezer, so I’m going to make Thai red curry for lunch. Might bake something as well, but haven’t planned that far ahead.

A few weeks after hubby and I started dating, his mother asked me to cook a roast with vegetables. I had no idea, so I looked a the Joy of Cooking she had in the kitchen and followed the directions. I stayed in the kitchen the entire time, as that’s how my parents taught me to cook. The family said it was the best they had ever had. I thought they were just being nice.

It was only later that I learned about her cooking style. It often involved black smoke - as that how she knew the food was done, and it was time to go back to the kitchen.

Not sure how hubby ended up being a fussy eater.

Speaking of food - time to cook my porridge for breakfast.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

what a flippin’ week it’s been… landlord shenanigans have started up again they’ve decided to do the petty harassment route so we had to clean the yards up still gotta finish them but no one can complain about it anymore …

and then I checked out the gas bill…

apparently, so cal gas ran out of its supply and bought natural gas from other places at robber baron rates and everyone’s gas bill went up about 200-400 dollars above normal and aunt and I about fainted when I saw ours, so we may have to get help with it and local politicians are collecting info and there’s going to be hearings and such … so wek kget rebates about july over it

On the excellent news thread instacart funded today’s grocery splurge …they have a MasterCard now that if you qualify its usually has a limit of 300 dollars and a year of instacart+ well we put it in cousin’s name to save for just in case we need emergency food … well not only did she get 500 instead of 3 since we already had the premium service they gave us 300$ in instant credit to use so we didn’t even have to use the card this time …

Higgs seems to have recovered. She was outside the bedroom door this morning and got up on her hind legs to greet me. But tonight it’s back to the crate, because she peed in the dining room. We were letting her sleep out so she’d have access to water, but I think that part of the health crisis has passed. The vet texted - he wants her to stay on the bland diet thru the weekend, then come back on Thurs for bloodwork. I’m hoping she can get her shots then.

So, plans for today. I need to launder the dog bed and while I’m at it, I’ll wash the afghan that Taz sleeps on. We’ll put the sofa back in place - I’m sure the carpet is dry now. I’ll stack firewood. I’ll vacuum. I’ll empty the dishwasher that should have been emptied yesterday. Not sure what else will come up, but surely something will.

FCD plans to go to bed early tonight because he wants to be on the road by 5 tomorrow. It’s about 10 hours to Avon, which is just west of Indy, which is where his mom is. Anyway, that’ll get him there in plenty of time to watch the stoopit football game with his uncle. And while he’s gone, I’ll do more carpet cleaning so’s I can get the spots where Higgs puked and peed over the last few days. Good times ahead!!

My daughter was all excited - someone donated a L-shaped desk to her school which she commandeered. Now she can have her computer screens against the wall and she can see people who stand before her desk. I had a desk arrangement like that at my last job, and it was great to have a computer area and a clear work area within swivel distance.

And so it begins - at least I managed to sleep till almost 3, so there’s that.

Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 55 with heavy thunderstorms predicted for the day. It’s been rainy since late yestiddy afternoon. Currently it is not rainin’ but TWPTB assure us that will not be the case for long. Thus, no biggie plans for the day. We shall sloth and be our overall useless selves as is our wont. Sup shall be leftovers from last night’s sup. I’ll be glad to stay inside and dry.

MOOOOOOM so glad Higgs is gettin’ back to her usual self. Have fun carpet cleanin’.

shades yikes on the gas bill! Hope that gets fixed soonest. Also, good score on the instacart credit!

Dicey I know some folks like your MIL. They know dinner is ready when the smoke detector goes off. They are the folks that are asked to bring ice or paper plates to potlucks.

JtC a blue cheese cream spread sounds like it would be one of the nummiest things ever! I have no use for the Stoupor Bowl. Matter of fact I have no use for any pro sports. I am a fan of college and high school football, however. Go Dawgs! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

BLURF. Howdy. Just waking. Cleaning today and finish the laundry I started yesterday. I am excited for the football game. Go Chiefs. I will wear my Mahomes jersey for the last time this season. I will miss football.

Stay safe and happy and healthy everyone.

That’s really annoying! We never considered SENTRI at all, I think when we were looking into multiple-entry visas from the UK purely for tourism (and the avoidance of a long immigration queue), GE was the only option that fitted for us. Whilst the application process wasn’t difficult, it did require an awful lot of information including every non-US country we had visited in several years prior to application. We travel to Europe a lot because it’s on our doorstep (will be much more of a pain thanks to the twats who voted for Brexit) and aim for one long-haul trip a year so we had a long list of countries to include, not to mention the ones we only used for transit so we were on the ground but never left the airport.

We applied for renewal early too, for the same reason as you but were lucky to get through without the need for an interview. Fingers crossed for you!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 11c/51f with no predicted change all day, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “I’m not going to lie. This day is fucking fine, but I’d be ok with 15% fewer clowns”. I agree!

shoe being cranky and in pain is not good, but your body knows you are still alive, and coming here to complain about it means we know you’re still there too. It’s a win, right?

Moooom glad to hear Higgs is getting better and looks more like normal. We are trying to work out what’s going on with Whisper as he’s been off his food (which is very unlike him). I’ve tried him on various boxes of Whiskas fish in jelly as that’s his preferred stuff but he’s sniffed it all and walked away. I finally managed to get him to eat a little bit of a generic supermarket food but not in his usual quantities. He doesn’t appear unwell, is not acting as if he’s ill, I wonder if there’s been a change to the cat food recipe and he doesn’t like it now, or he’s got a bunged up nose and can’t smell it.

catglove if you have knee pain, the leg extension machine is very useful to help strengthen the muscles. You need to set it at a sensible weight to provide enough resistance, and include a short pause when your legs are fully extended, then controlled descent again. That pause at the top makes all the difference!

I have been to the gym this morning for 360 HIIT, then spin, then barbell hustle so I think I’ve done quite enough for now. I need to get showered and tidied up, then we can head into town for lunch at the Good Chinese Place and the usual errands. A brief period of sloth will follow, then I’m making meatballs and sketties for dinner tonight. After our Spain trip, then two days of irk (and two nights out at gigs), we will be spending the evening on the sofa watching films and drinking tea, thus the day will end with a proper sloth-out!

I am excited today for my first Block of the Month session from a new to me fabric store. I will get the pattern and fabric for the first of twelve blocks to make this:

At the end I will have a 90" x 90" (229cm x 229cm) quilt. It will be challenging and fun.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not much on the agenda today, so I’ll mess around in the studio and download some music on the MP3 (I’m attempting to download all of my CDs so to free up physical space).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

hippie that’s a beautiful and ambitious quilt. Good luck. There is sun today and the temp is expected to get up to 45!

Blue cheese spread on a bagel sounds amazing!

I’m making a quick shopping run this morning, I hope it isn’t too Super Bowl crowded.

Businesses have started boarding up, the city is stationing trash trucks in high density areas, poles are greased, bus shelters are reinforced, and schools and many businesses have delayed opening on Monday.

I will stay in once I get home from the shopping trip. It is the calm before the philly storm.

I am impressed at your drive and (I assume) patience - no way I’d tackle something like that - look at all those teensy squares!!! You, sir, are amazing!

OK, the couch is back where it belongs and I’ve sucked up several animals worth of hair, plus some crud. I spot-cleaned on stain because I just am not up for a major carpet-cleaning adventure. As it is, I’ve got to do the area rug in the living room, plus half a dozen other spots where Higgs made a mess. I’ll leave the whole-room cleaning for spring when I can open windows.

I also cleaned her bed cushion - only one end was soiled and I was able to scrub it in the sink. It’s out on the porch to dry now. I also gathered all the trash and recycling and helped FCD load the truck - he’s taking it all to the convenience center. Next up - emptying the dishwasher. Then a load of towels and some firewood to stack.
