Where's The New MMP!

First load in the dryer, second in the washer, and I’m showered and dressed. Higgs has had a little more chicken and a lot of water. FCD awaits his breakfast, so off to the kitchen with me!!

Yay on the daughter’s new job nellie! I hope that you have another method of brewing coffee until the new Keurig gets there.

I’m glad Don Gato is feeling a bit better (and feels no need to head to the roof) lily. Gentle skritches.

Happy birthday doggio! :birthday: :birthday: :birthday:

Glad that Higgs took some nourishment Mooooooom. It’s good that the kibble wasn’t the culprit. I know that changing brands can cause anxiety for some critters.

Up, caffeinating, a load of towels / grocery bags in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. Time to do KP and commence to housecleaning. Yanno, the usual Friday stuff.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Congratulations to your daughter, nellie!

And JtC, I have backed away from the google. Thank you for slapping my hands away. I hope the cheese hanging went well - that made me giggle and I’m not sure why.

I am heartily glad it is Friday. It’s cold and grey and I expect to spend my workday wrapped in a fuzzy blanket and answering emails, though something is always sure to explode. My bright spot is that I got to tell someone last night she would be getting a promotion and she was so happy she cried, which almost made me cry because I haven’t had any good news for anyone lately, so that was nice. I’ll hold on to that because I don’t get to give people a leg up like that at work very often, but she more than earned it.

Two or three weeks ago, a squirrel hid a whole bun at the intersection of the beam and a rafter on the catio roof. I was going to knock it into the yard, but decided to see if the squirrel remember where it put it. This morning, the bun was gone.

Congrats to your daughter!!! I can relate. Good occasion to drink the :champagne: .

Reminds me of the adage: Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.

Happy Birthday Doggio :birthday:

FCM good to hear Higgs is starting to eat a little. And you took the words straight out of my fingers. Wanted to type the exact same thing about Mayo. Also agree about people ruining jobs. I’ve always said that accounting is accounting no matter where you work; what makes the job good or bad is the people you work for and the people you work with.

Wow, already Friday?!? The week went so fast. Breakfast was oatmeal with bananas, blueberries and chopped walnuts. I make oatmeal with oat bran, steel cuts oats and just a little rolled oats and ground flax seeds, spiced with cinnamon and ginger.
Plans are to head to the Fitness Center then grocery shopping. I have to buy some almond flour because my friend is gluten free and I want to make some cookies for her birthday.

i have had mayo and cheddar on a sandwich. i’ve not had it as a salad thing. i stopped using mayo on salads once i found out about blue cheese salad dressing. best dressing ever.

hhhhm, perhaps i will try swaping the cottage cheese with blue cheese…

Howdy Y’all! No rain yet but ‘tis cloudy and dreary out so it shall be rainy soonish. We have been honin’ our sloth skills this mornin’. Slugs would look productive compared to us. However, we are retired drains on society so we don’t care.

Wordy happy doperversary! Saw the piece of cake beside your name.

MOOOOOOM glad Higgs has decided to eat a little bit. May she be back to her adorable usual self soonest.

rocker I agree. Blue cheese is da bomb!

Thank you! I didn’t even notice that until you mentioned it!

GET OFFA MY LAWNThanks everybody for the birthday wishes. :cocktail: :birthday:

HAPPY DOPERVERSARY wordy!!!

Feel better, Higgs!

Happy Doperversary, wordy!!

Just popped back in with a bit of good news, being a furriner with a serious level of impatience and lack of tolerance for Teh Stoopit when it comes to queueing up with the absolute cockwombles at Immigration, we took it upon ourselves to apply for Global Entry to the US. Got it a few years ago after a pleasant little chat with a very nice chappie at the US embassy in London - we had already done the online application and were summoned to an in-person interview so they could scan passports, take fingerprints and do all the important legal stuff. In fact, we had both been approved for GE in the time it took to walk back to the nearest pub and order a pint.

Fast forward to now, and I applied for renewal as it was due to expire. I had to update all my info including all the countries we’d visited outside the US since we originally applied, and pay a fee, then got notification that we would need to attend interviews again. No big deal, both our passports had been renewed so the photos and numbers would be different, an interview to deal with new docs sounded simple enough. Couldn’t get an in-person interview outside the US, couldn’t get a Zoom appointment at all for love nor money, and couldn’t work out exactly how we’d manage this one.

Got an email today saying I’ve been renewed until 2027!

Could have been a jay. Jays spy on each other, other birds, and squirrels to see where they hide their food. They have excellent memories for it, as well, and can remember (as I recall) some 200 hiding places.

Made a good pot of chili yesterday. Toasted some dried passilla, guajillo and ancho peppers, then reconstituted them in some chicken stock and then took a stick blender to them. Added sauteed onions/garlic, a couple of diced up chicken breasts, well-seasoned, and (heresy warning!) a jar of tomatoes and a couple cans of black beans. Good stuff.

Off to see the oldest boy and his family tomorrow.

Made it to the Fitness Center and had a great workout, best in a while. I always do the NuStep and the Leg Press most times and not quite as often the back bend machine. Today I also did a Leg lift machine and an abs machine. Since I’m going on the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage with my sister in 2 months, I felt like no time like the present to workout more than the muscles surrounding my knees.

On the way to the grocery store I stopped to check the air pressure in the tires since we’ll be taking my car to Chicago and no additional air needed to be added. Then I continued on toward the grocery store but I had a powerful urge for some food so came home and had a ham and cheese with lettuce, tomato and mayo the way sandwiches should be made. :stuck_out_tongue: . Forgot to mention yesterday that Hubs went back to the shop to pick up his new tires and so went back to the mid-eastern bakery. He bought a box of a variety of French pastries. Had half of one for dinner and half of a different one for lunch with more to go for the next day. :yum:

Will head to the grocery store soonest.

Errands have been run and MIL’s new TV is set up. Smart TVs aren’t plug and play, even if you don’t want to use the smart part. But it got done. Then we had soup and salad at Olive Garden and ran to the marina to make sure the boat is still floating, and now we’re home.

Last load in the washer. FCD is finishing with canceling accounts on the FL house - insurance and electrical service. Higgs has eaten a little more chicken - she’s getting better. So a pretty good day all around.

After yesterday’s excitement, I have little to report today. The sun is shining! It looks like we’ll get a few golden days, then will be back to silver.

I think my daughter will really like the new job. It’s right up her alley, and she’s long wanted a job that would help other humans. I think she’ll give notice at her current job today. I know she’s dreading it. Her coworkers have become like a second family, and her boss will be very disappointed. She starts the new job on 3/1.

Happy Birthday, doggio! There oughta be a law requiring a paid day off on birthdays. Also cake. Lots of cake.

Happy Cake Day, wordy! I’m glad you were able to give someone happy news. Now it’s your turn to be on the receiving end of same.

FCM, yay! Higgs is eating!

I wonder how MetalMouse is enjoying his trip. Maybe he’ll take up life anew in Antarctica and spend his days happily reffing soccer games between teams of walruses. He could winter in McMurdo. But where would he get his beloved braunschweiger?

Woo hoo! We didn’t have to get interviews for our renewals, which was good, since it was in the middle of the Covid mess. But we’re not furriners, according to the Global Entry people.

Happy Birthday Doggio and Happy Doperversary wordy!

Great news about Higgs - glad she’s eating.

I know hubby likes cottage cheese, so I asked him what he used to eat it with as a child. Yep, also a leaf of lettuce and cottage cheese.

I asked him if he every had a cherry on it, and told him about the mayo and shredded cheddar variation. He said he had never had a cherry on it, and also no mayo, cheddar, grits, sweet tea or gumbo.

I only like mayo on french fries, and maybe a bit on a sandwich, but not glops of it. And I prefer tartar sauce to mayo for french fries - then malt vinegar for fried fish.

I have now added both cottage cheese and bananas to the grocery list, thanks for the suggestions. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Now I think it’s time to settle down for the evening. Haven’t found the bottom of the whisky bottle yet.

I’m alive. I’m crabby and in pain, and have to work Long Night tonight.

Monkey has a “fun” new game of kicking litter out of his box, rolling in it, and then jumping onto me/my bed.
Good thing he’s cute; he’s driving me nutzzz.

Hey y’all. Sorry I disappeared. Apparently it’s going to be a busy month. Super Bowl weekend this weekend, memorial service next weekend, and Daddy’s birthday the week after that.

Hippie Birdies doggio!!

Much love, wordy. Cancer Sucks the big hairy toe.

Thanks, ya’ll, for the well wishes and cake day wishes. Happy Birthday, doggio!

And congrats on the renewal, scareyfaerie!

Glad you’re back, janis and shoe!

So far the day has gone swimmingly, though I’m told I’m inheriting a crap ton of additional work, as well as another two people. So…ouch. Hopefully they’re planning to pay me more. We shall see.

Just got home from watching them “install” mom’s chemo infusion pump (I have to be the one to pull out the needle & disconnect her), immediately downed a bunch of tuna salad. My kids hate it, my husband tolerates it, particuarly when it’s covered in melted cheese as a tuna melt. I love it, but it’s a pain in the butt to make just for myself, and the smell alone is a deterrent. Glad it was there in all its fishy goodness.

I think I may have an espresso to round out my day while I try to organize all this crud that piled up while I was out for a few hours.

Yeah. Sorry. At the end of applying to renew last week, a question asked if I also wanted to apply for NEXUS. Sure, I agree. Then I complete the process and the pending NEXUS is there (and charged for), but Global Entry isn’t. I wrote to inquire and here’s the reply:

The Trusted Traveler Programs will only allow you to apply for one membership at a time. If you applied for SENTRI or NEXUS, but prefer Global Entry (GE), you can switch the application to a GE application in your TTP account. You must pay the difference in the application fee.
You will not be able to do this until you are Conditionally Approved.
You will not be able to do it if you have already scheduled your SENTRI or NEXUS interview. If you do that, then your only option is to cancel your application and apply again.
If you prefer to immediately apply for another membership, you have the option to request cancellation of your current application, so that you can reapply for your preferred program. Once the application is cancelled, you should then see the option to apply for or renew your preferred program reappear on your account dashboard.
Please note that the application fees are non-refundable.
Please note that without the option to convert to Global Entry on your Dashboard screen, you cannot convert or switch programs while in a “conditionally approved” status. You will have to cancel your application, and then reapply and pay any applicable fees.

I was applying a few months early to accommodate their backlog, but so much for that, huh?

Howdy Y’all! We have supped and cleanded up the kitchen. Now we continue to sloth and chill.

BooFae conga rats on the renewal!

Wordy appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed the new responsibilities will bring more moolah.

Howdy Pearl and Shoe!

Nellie I am sure MetalMouse is havin’ a blast and has made a bunch of penguin friends.

Lily that sounds like some high level gummint talk in that email.
