Where's The New MMP!

I’ve also had the peach version. There is a banana version that could be considered “slightly risqué “.

I I’ve only seen the banana one once, the other 2 more often. All are good.

I never liked peanut butter, and my friend would lick all the peanut butter off the celery and leave it, so I’d give her my peanut butter and she gave me her celery. Little kids do some pretty disgusting stuff.

I was being nice about the cheese, I didn’t say anything about big sweating balls needing lots of room to move around…

Wow! The thrift stores out this way are more reasonable, I doubt I’ve ever seen a full looking skein priced higher than fifty cents. Of course, I only look at it when I’m finishing up small things for Christmas so I don’t really have a good picture of their yearly pricing.

Up from naptime, having an Iberian martini, and Smoked Paprika Chicken with roasted potatoes.

Do not put 106lbs. of canned sodas loose in a 20x20x20 box. Trust me on this one.

< twitches uncontrollably >

Also, on hominy.

Ace never tired pear relish on hominy. Now it is a must do thing! I like hominy but OYKW will only eat it if’n it’s in Mary’s Hominy Casserole. I’m pretty sure pear relish would not go with this. However, I do sometimes make just plain ol’ hominy just for me cause I like it that way too.

Rocker I’ve never had the 'nanner version. Is it sliced bananas in cottage cheese? That would not be bad probably. Then again, I’d rather just go ahead and make a ‘nanner puddin’, but that’s just me.

ETA: You have to scroll down the link to find the hominy casserole recipe.

swampy, the 'nanner version tends to be called candle salad, so you can imagine the reason that is somewhat risque. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hominy is something I usually only buy when I make pozole. I like it fried in butter, but never think about it. I may have to pick up a can tomorrow.

I now very happy I didn’t even consider looking.

Back when I was a toddler, I fell out of Dad’s car and wacked the corner of my eye on the floorboard. My eye was OK, but I did need stitches to close the tear. The doctors strapped me down to a table and put a sterile cloth with a hole cut out over me so all terrified little two year old me could see was the needle coming at my eye while they were stitching me up. My mother said she could count the stitches by my screams.

I still have nightmares about being strapped down and a big needle coming at my eye.

Happy dance, but I’m not that surprised. She is your offspring, of course she is smart and personable and great with words!

Dang about the Keurig.

I totally get that.

YAAAAAY! My daughter got the job! I’m SO happy for her! They also started her at the TOP of the salary range, which is a happy surprise because she’s a newbie, albeit one with sterling writing credentials. She’ll be making a lot more than I ever did teaching, not that that’s saying much. Thank you all SO much for those rays of hope! I remembered I had one of those single-serve bottles of champagne in the fridge awaiting a special occasion, so I toasted her and am having that.

In more mundane news, my Keurig died. Not only that, but it leaked all over my counter. I ordered a new one.

Pears: I like them, but only when they’re underripe. Yes, I’m strange. I also like peaches and plums when they’re just shy of ripe. Once when I was a kid, I had a salad that had a canned pear half with raisin eyes, a cherry nose, and cut-marshmallow ears. It was supposed to be a bunny. I didn’t want to hurt it by eating it.

red, pear butter sounds nummy!

What?! And I missed it. Dinner is going to be leftover lentil soup. Whee.

The old pear salad. Just as Swampy described it. A canned pear half on a bed of lettuce topped with a dollop of mayo and cheddar cheese. It’s good. I haven’t had it in a long time.

Another day of sloth. Didn’t do anything useful today. I must change my ways. Tomorrow. Starting tomorrow. Changing my ways.

Tomorrow’s Friday. You can’t make big changes just before the weekend, maybe it would be better to wait until Monday.

SWMBO wanted pizza tonight, so I ordered one (plus a Mediterranean salad for me so that I wouldn’t have too much pizza). I ordered it for pick-up.

‘See you in a bit!’

Opened the front door a couple of inches, and… Whoops. Forgot to warm up the oven. I turned it on to 220º.

‘OK, now I’ll see you in a bit!’

There’s a package on the porch. Had to bring it in and open it. (It’s my smoke box and a couple of thermometers for the grill.)

‘OK, NOW I’ll see you in a bit!’

Stepped out the door, and there was the UPS guy with a box of firestarters. Had to take those inside.

‘OK, I’ll see you in a bit.’

Got the pizza, and it was good. I had two slices.

JtC Your eye story reminds me of when I was a young guy with a brand new plastic kids golf set. I took a swing and the head flew off the club, promptly to be taken by the dog. I, as a wise 6 year old, proceeded to chase the dog around the living room. (why I was given golf clubs in the living room remains a mystery), only for Sam Dog to do a u turn and clip my legs. I fell into the corner of the coffee table with my eyebrow. All I remember about the next few minutes is that I knew my grandparents had just gotten new carpet, so I held out my shirt to catch the blood. Seven stiches later, my eyebrows don’t match. Didn’t get any blood on the new carpet.

nellie Yay! for your daughter! Boo For the keurig.

That pear sallit nonsense sounds gross.

doggio My Ups man will be un happy with me tomorrow, I ordered a 1000’ x 48" roll of kraft paper. Prolly come in at 150lbs? I’m not looking forward to getting into its home.

Hope y’all have a good rest of the week.

Meow, meow, meow. Still sneezy today so he went to the vet for a shot and now is too tired to go up on the roof.

I have several of those for holiday decorations bit its the pacon corrugated cardboard kinf …done in red for xmas and gray flagstone for fall

Does this mean that mayo + shredded cheddar is equivalent to cottage cheese?

I like to add apple sauce or honey to cottage cheese, so a pear, either fresh or canned sounds like a good combination.

Still not sure about the mayo and cheddar, though.

On my phone since I’m on the train to work, so I’ll catch up later.

Happy Friday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

“Payback’s a bitch” - VanGo’s route driver

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 67 and rain for the day. The rain will allegedly start around nine a.m. No biggie plans for the day as stuff got taken care of yestiddy, so we shall be inside and dry. Sup shall be poke roast, baked sweet N.O.T., green beans and rolls. I have had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a baked sweet N.O.T. all week.

Nellie yay for your daughter! Hope she’s very happy with her new gig. :champagne:

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR DDDOOOGGGGGGIIIOOO!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/38f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and cloudy. Weather app reminds me that “It’s not that cold outside. It would be a lot colder if we were on a fucking whale watching trip” - probably quite true for a change!

I was up early this morning despite a late night - we had tickets for a gig last night at a local venue and were in two minds about going because we were both tired. But it wasn’t that far away, and I decided to drive so we were home before midnight. I’m glad we went, it was a really excellent performance. Tonight we’re out again to see a different band, I’ll have to look at their farcebook page because they’ve had a few line-up changes and I’m not sure which version we’re getting tonight.

In between all that, I’ve bought festival tickets for April and another pair of gig tickets for August, and chased up a missing confirmation email for something else that I can see has come off my credit card but I haven’t had any confirmation that the purchase has been completed. Also booked my car in for a service and MoT later this month, which I can pre-pay so that’ll be one large bill taken care of.

A friend of mine (who is part of a messenger group) let us know that she’d had an accident yesterday, came off her bike and had broken her wrist so first job this morning was to find a card to send her, and start a new messenger chat for everyone else in the group so we can have a collection to send her something cheerful.

I even managed to squeeze in a bit of work as well! Not too much, I don’t want them thinking I’m efficient or anything. I did get a notification that there’s an opportunity for a sideways move until early July to another department in our College which I might apply for. I am in two minds, I’d like to have a break from the madness of my own department but I don’t know if the other one would be better or worse. It’s hard to see how it could be worse, but there’s always something. I have a meeting with my boss later, I should talk to her about it.

nellie hurrah for your daughter! I hope the job is everything she is looking for.

Happy birthday, doggio!

Right…off to make more students happy/miserable/vengeful/grateful…who knows? And I have to nip out to the supermarket at lunchtime for emergency provisions since the fridge is pretty much empty.

I did a quick search - it’s kibbles that’s vet-prescribed and vet-sold. I’ve never seen the particular bag. So, no, that’s not what she was eating.

However, this morning, she did eat a little chicken and rice. I’m counting that as a good sign.

That’ll be enough of that sort of talk here! The very idea!!! Frankly, serving anything with a glop of mayo on it strikes me as ever-so-slightly disgusting. Mayo is meant to be spread on bread for a sammich or mixed in with a bunch of other stuff like in tuna salad or deviled egg filling. Sheesh!

Happy doggio Day!!! :birthday: :confetti_ball: :fireworks:

Even the best job in the world can be ruined by the coworkers/bosses/subordinates, and you wouldn’t necessarily know till too late. But not every position includes butthead associates, so there’s that.

I woke up around 2 - another bizarro dream that it was after 5. Why do these dreams completely mess with my sleepy brain?? I’ve dozed/read/played on the table for the last 3+ hours but now I’m up, fed, and about to start some laundry. Plans for the day include transforming our dirties into cleans, making a new firewood stack, setting up MIL’s TV, and running to FoodLion for sodas for MIL. And maybe other stuff - we shall see.

FCD has realized why the executor of an estate is entitled to 10% - OMG, has he been working his butt off! But the house is sold and the proceeds in the bank, so that’s one biggie out of the way. He’s taken care of his mom’s SS and changing his dad’s pension and health insurance for his mom. He’s fighting with the life insurance company - first they said a scanned copy of the death cert was fine, then nothing happened, and when he finally was able to talk to someone there, it turns out their lawyers wanted an original, so that had to be dispatched - all this for less than $30K - it’s not like it was a million dollar policy.

Then there’s been dealing with his brothers - he sent the dulcimer to Texas (gotta check if it’s arrived yet) and of course, the local brother and all his baggage. But with luck, when his mom dies, settling the estate will be quick and simple.

My share has been easy - I just took their electric bill in FL off of automatic payment. The realtor said the account is switched automatically to the new owner so we don’t need to cancel their service - we shall see. At least they can’t suck money out of the bank. I also deleted the bookmarks for the HOA down there and the cable company.

Well, dirty socks beckon - I must drag myself downstairs and start the machine.

Happy Firday!!

Good morning!

It’s currently 45 degrees and raining. The expected high is 50 with rain throughout the morning and cloudy to partly skies for the afternoon.

nellie, many congrats to your daughter! That is wonderful news. Boo to the Keurig breaking.

FCM, I’m glad things are finally starting to close out on the estate, and yes, being an executor is a lot of work. I was so glad when MiL’s estate finally settled. It took most of a year of work and was a complete PITA.

I’m also glad Higgs got a little food in her tum-tum.

The pear “salad” thing with mayo sounds like an abomination! But, you all do your thing!

I am also not a fan of hominy. Of course, I haven’t had it since I was a kid and my mom made it, but it was gross then, and I’m still not willing to eat it as an adult. My mother didn’t have a lot of money, so no food was allowed to go to waste and we had to choke that stuff down. Blech.

I’ll need to log into my work computer long enough to validate my timecard, and I’m going to NOT look at my email. No, really! I’m not going to look and end up spending two hours working when I should be off.

Happy Doggio Day!

I need to get another cup of coffee and think about doing some tidying. I hope you all have a great day!
