Several months ago there was a thread called ‘This is just wrong’, or something like that. I don’t remember where it was, but it may have been in MPSIMS. Since it’s about ‘music’, I’m asking here.
The link led to a page that had an LP cover on it from the late-'50s/early-'60s. It featured a 20-something woman dressed in a ‘little girl’ dress. There was a link on the page that played a song. The woman was known as ‘Little Cindy’. She said in the liner notes (that were included on the page as text or as a scan of the LP cover) that it was a personal she created. ‘Little Cindy’ was supposed to be a six-year-old girl who would sing sweet songs. I think that the song linked to was a Christmas carol. She started singing in a cloyingly sweet voice, and then she admonished her grandpa or uncle for playing the piano/organ wrong.
Clicking ‘forward’ or ‘back’ led to other strange LPs.
Who remembers this thread, and do you have a link for it? I tried searching on ‘Little Cindy’, but didn’t find it here.
I’ve googled “‘little cindy’, ‘bizarre’, ‘lp’, ‘-grinch’, ‘-waters’” to no avail. I’ve also searched for ‘bizarre’ in MPSIMS. No luck. I know there’s a thread on it, but damned if I know the search criteria I need to use.
I’m shamed to admit that this album was recorded in a state in which I lived for several years (Kentucky. Though, luckily, I’ve never been to Madisonville), and still travel to quite a bit. It’s bad enough living in a state (Indiana) that borders the Bible Belt. It’s worse when you get reminded of things like that in ways that make you want to petition the feds to place you in the Witness Relocation Program.
