Which actors do you dislike to watch?

The well-named Andy Dick. His douchebag personality shines through every character he plays.

Ben Stiller. I can put up with him as a secondary character but not as the main character.

He’s been known to be kicked out of multiple strip clubs. When a celebrity with money coming out his ass is kicked out of a strip club, you hafta assume he’s really being a dick.

I can only agree with those that have been mentioned;

Tom Cruise and John Travolta - I’m sure their shared “religion” has something to do with my dislike since I can no longer suspend my disbelief and distance the actor from the role when I see them. Besides, Tom always plays the same character.

Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler - Although they were never my faves on SNL they were a lot more tolerable in smaller doses.

Sofia Vergara - I find it odd that I saw her in an older movie and she barely had an accent but now she has the over-the-top accent and she’s always yelling. Granted, she could have been trying an American accent in that earlier film but I find it more believable that her entire persona now is fake and she also always plays the same character.

Jim Carrey - He makes me uncomfortable, like how you feel watching someone having a complete mental breakdown.

For me it’s their mannerisms, I think. They both just come across as kind of weaselly, spineless, and untrustworthy. Maybe it’s just some of the characters they’ve played, but they sure do inhabit such roles well. A little too well.

Hands down, Mark Wahlberg. He was perfect for his role in Boogie Nights – stupid and narcissistic. But he’s played Dirk Diggler in everything I’ve seen him in since. I get the impression that he’s like that in real life as well. How he pulls an audience I have no idea.

And speaking of actors who inhabit roles a little too well, I have an aversion to actresses who play “bitchy” a little too well. My prime examples are Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson. Yes, I realize they are both objectively beautiful, and adored/lusted after by millions, but I just can’t get past the nagging feeling that both would be very unpleasant in real life.

.

Sarah Jessica Parker: whoever told her that she’s beautiful and sexy, and can act, should have been suffocated before that happened.

Buddy Hackett: any old movie with him in it is a non-starter for me. Repulsive and completely unfunny. And not in a good way.

Weird, I mean, YMMV and all that, but I found Elf to be the movie in which Ferrell was pretty much the Ferrell-most I have ever seen, and thus the least tolerable.

His best, and quite watchable movie, IMO, has been…

Although I think it worked best because it made use of his fundamental awkwardness.

Matthew McConaughey - self satisfied smirker, ruined Contact and everything he’s been in since then.

Whose incriminating video tapes does Josh Gad have? He ruined 1600 Penn, scored a the Jar Jar Binks on Frozen, and is sucking the living daylights out of Billy Crystal on The Comedians. I can’t understand what casting agents or producers see in him.

Admit it, some of you are just hoping you’ll get picked for Jimmy Kimmel.

Julia Roberts. It’s the laugh…mostly.

^ Thank you,** RH**, I didn’t have the guts to say it.

God yes. I am so repulsed by her that I blocked her out of my memory. Thanks, thanks alot.

Michael Douglas. Can’t stand him.

Scarlett Johanssen. Her acting “range” consists of exactly one face: puzzled fish.

Jack Black. He tries so hard to be funny, but I hate watching it.

Owen Wilson. He tries so hard to be sincere, etc.

Tobey Maguire - terrible.

I’ll second James Franco.

I’ll add Michael Pitt to Dano/Ribisi and make a troika of guys I kinda want to punch in the face. Ribisi is the most tolerable.

I very much agree.

I have liked her performances in exactly two movies: If Lucy Fell and The Black Dalia. Other than that she might as well be a potted plant for all she adds to anything.

And I’d like to add Seth Rogen. He comes off as someone with a mild intellectual disability induced by overt drug use.

I was surprised that I didn’t even really recognise Sofia Vergara in Chef. It sort of looked like her, and sort of sounded like her, but not enough for me to be certain it was her. So I guess that her Modern Family character is an exaggeration, and she now is being typecast.

She didn’t have the OTT accent in Dirty Sexy Money either.
