Nicely done! Even if there may be access to some of the really old shows on cable channels that specialize in reruns, it would be great to see some new episodes, too.
Things from way back that I still miss (I think):
Peter Gunn
The Bob Cummings Show
Night Gallery
The Twilight Zone
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Mission: Impossible
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Secret Agent
The Avengers
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in
I suppose we should exclude from consideration shows that ended because the director/producer always intended a story arc with a conclusion, such as Babylon 5.
[The premise of Arrested Development was pretty simple: the one (relatively) sane and responsible member of the family tries to keep the family together and solvent. The second season was brilliant, but it went into a death spiral in the abbreviated third season culminating in an abysmal finale.Maybe I could overlook making a run for it in a famous steamship that lost its boilers 40 years ago if you hadn’t pointed out earlier in the samepi esode that it was "welded to the dock."The last few episodes of the series pretty much trashed the original premise.
Well, I believe that the third season was a direct response to the need for them to simply stay afloat. The format wasn’t keeping them alive and they did a bunch of different stuff in the last season to try and keep it going.
I’ve been jonesing for more of The Shield, too. I found this:
“Q: When does the new season of The Shield start?
A: At long last, answers! An FX insider tells me that the highly anticipated seventh and final season of The Shield will debut in September.”
I guess the show I miss the most is The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
I got the DVD set as a gift, and it made me want more. Bruce Campbell’s cult status apparently wasn’t enough to rustle up viewers for this quirky, wacko western/scifi show.
I didn’t watch more than an isolated episode or two when it was on first-run, but Zoe and I have started with Netflix at Season 1 (finished it already) and are into Season 2 at the moment. I had been hooked until the Season 2 episode called “The Host” (or thereabouts) about the Toxic Avenger the Russians were dumping off the New Jersey shore and that wound up in the sewers. The A-1 grossest imagery I have ever seen, and it’s slowed me down from plowing ahead with the series. In fact, I have schedule some new releases to come in ahead of the next X-Files disks. That image is still seared in my brain.
Besides, hasn’t it been long enough that they’ll need a replacement for Gillian if they want to keep the hotness factor going? Duchovny, not so much, but then I’m a guy. (She is schedule to be in the new movie, though, right?)
