SEC is guaranteed another loss and will most likely lose a 3rd. Big 12 only has 2 remaining games, so even if they split them, they will be 6-2 for an equal percentage as MAC with more wins. MAC could take it if Northern Illinois beats Arkansas State.
For as bad a reputation as the Big East has, the teams seem to do well in the bowl season (19-7 since 2006). With that, they have one loss this year (Louisville) and two wins (Cincinnati and Rutgers), That leaves WVU vs. Clemson in the Orange Bowl and Pitt vs. SMU in the Who the Fuck Cares Bowl.
Pitt can easily win their game and, while it would be an upset, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for WVU to beat Clemson.
Good catch! I had held off doing the dirty work of building an accurate tally of where things stood after the Auburn game and just assumed that since their total for the games was right that the other stuff would be too. But the “number of games left” is off for at least the Big XII. Your analysis is solid!
I wish I could help there, but I can’t. I almost decided not to include the ones whose time has passed, but figured others would see that they were hopeless. Sorry!
I’m with you on renaming that Pitt-SMU bowl’s name! Truth in advertising?
And it would be nice to prevent Clemson from going into next year with The Belt!
So true! With all the observations about being “up” and “down” floating around it will be at least exciting (one must hope) to see how Reality rears its ugly head. Today’s fare is the one I had expected to be in on from 11 (Central) until whenever. Just let it be some football to rival that amazing Alamo Bowl.
Well I’m glad to see Michigan ahead with 3 minutes to go. But this is a sad, sad game. Blues ineptness on offense, and shitty tackling have been matched by Constant Va Tech special teams fuck ups.
