Which of these do you think will still be around in 10 Years?

“Albums” are still around???

The joke about “kids these days don’t know what records are” is really, really dated. It’s like joking that kids these days don’t know Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings.

Vinyl is big. Digital downloads are big. The media that look like they’re not going to survive are the various magnetic tapes (there seems to be zero nostalgia for eight-tracks, and minimal for compact cassette and microcassette tapes) and physical digital media, like CDs and the various digital proprietary formats, like MiniDisc. But vinyl has a culture surrounding it, and it’s going to hang on for a while longer.

As a collection of songs on any number of formats? Of course.

An ‘album’ is, if I am correct, a term for a collection of things. A picture album has pictures. A music album released (no matter what form it takes) that has a collection of songs is an album. I’m not quite sure of what they’re doing now, but I still say an album is a collection.

Yes. Yes, they are.

Come on, Weird Al in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame already. If they let in Rush…

Sanjaya, surprisingly, is the only person/thing on the original list that is completely gone or gets no media coverage now.
