Yeah, I gave one guy permission to pit me after he took offense at a post in which I pointed out that he was making an inaccurate accusation against the staff. He took me up on the invitation, but it didn’t amount to much.
AFAICT, I’ve never been Pitted, and quite honestly, I have no idea how I’ve managed to avoid it. I’ve certainly deserved to be, at times; Lord knows I can be pretty damned irascible and combative, and frequently have been, especially in the debate fora. Summing up:
99er - check
High post count - check
Gets in a lot of political debates - check
Has frequently been rather hard on his debate adversaries - check
That should add up to a Pitting or three, but somehow it adds up to zero. That’s irrational. Therefore I’ve just proven that zero is an irrational number! 
It’s probably because everyone knows you’re an irascible old curmudgeon, and we expect you to be that way. We’ve just come to accept it.

I’m a 99er, albeit not a prolific one. I’ve never been pitted although I was warned once (by LynnBodini, I think) for being unduly insulting outside of the Pit. The Mod (maybe Lynn and maybe not) who warned me said something like, “You’ve been here long enough to know better…” So embarrassing!

No, not me. I’m a 99er too although I never realized until recently that distinction had any sort of cachet. I guess I’m just too reasonable and generally nice, but not in a syrupy way.
Count me as a 99er who has the love and admiration of all Dopers. At least to the point that I’ve not been pitted.
