Which U.S. States Have You Been To? (includes 'None' option)

He only put one foot in one of them.

All except Washington state, Oregon, and Alaska.
Someday…

Interesting how the percentages correlate with the population of the state (with obvious exceptions of DC, Alaska, and Hawaii).

Traveling is fun. We’ve got a big country, lots of variety, much to see and do. I’ve always enjoyed traveling.

36, all the ones I have missed are West of Mississippi. Anyone going to start a poll on Provinces? I didn’t select Minnesota although I made a transfer at the Minneapolis Airport one time. On my only trip to Wisconsin. California?, just across the border at Lake Tahoe and Arizona, just across the Hoover Dam.

New York
Connecticut
Rhode Island
Maryland
Delaware
Pennsylvania
Ohio
Iowa
Illinois
Wisconsin
Virginia
New Jersey

And

Washington D.C.

States I’ve lived: Pennsylvania (born and grew up in), New York (2years), Illinois (4 years) and I’ve lived in Canada since. Total states I’ve been in: 34+DC. I think I’m the third poster to say that.

What is interesting is that I can say that I have been in every New England state, every mid-Atlantic state, WV, IN (driving from Philly to Illinois),IL every state bordering a sea-coast and damned little else (only MI, MO, CO, and NV, I think, and the last only changing planes.

28 states and 77 countries so far… will be adding 3 new states this summer I think.

I started the poll because I’d really like to set foot in all 51 before I meet my maker. I am at 37 right now, lacking the two faraways, a good chunk of the west (except California, Arizona, & Nevada), and Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont.

I really believe that each state has something to offer, something to make the trip worthwhile.
mmm

Here is an interactive map of the U.S. where you can create a map showing states you have visited.

mmm

I count 30. I’ve avoided most of the south and those flat, boring states.

California has it beat at the moment!

I’m actually surprised that Alaska is so low. Yes it’s remote, but it’s so different and such (I thought) a tourist destination that I expected it to do a bit better.

On the other hand, I’m surprised at how well Virginia is doing. Though considering the number of people visiting DC, I guess it makes sense that a lot of them would at least step foot in Virginia.

All but Alaska and just over 2000 counties or county-equivalents (closing in on 2/3rds of them all).

I missed Washington, which I visited briefly during Expo '86. Also when I was a wee kid my family drove from Saskatchewan to Alabama and I’m sure I missed one or two states that would have been on the driving path. But all in all I’ve visited about half.

looks like about 32 for me, including DC (twice). a couple more states like washington and oregon i’m a little fuzzy on, since i was ten years old at the time of the trip where i visited the most states out west before heading north into western canada.

So, what are you going to do with this data? I think you should make a US map and color it in grayscale. Say 250 people vote, 0/250 votes = white; 250/250 = black. Everything else is shade of gray. Then, post us a link of the pic. I think it’d be interesting.

A lot more than I had thought, but a good lot of those were of the “just passing through” nature, i.e. driving through the Carolinas on the way to Atlanta, a layover in Denver, etc.

Everyone but Oklahoma. Before I die, I’ll have to make the trip.

Been to 18 for sure, and possibly a couple more when I was a wee young’un, so I didn’t include them. A couple summers ago, we drove to Chicago and back, hitting 11 states and two provinces in just under two weeks and managed to drive all the way around Nebraska without ever entering it (although we might have popped in there if we had known about Carhenge).

Idaho is, without a doubt, the suckiest of all places that ever did suck, with their sucky state troopers nailing me for speeding a few years back. Jerks.

All of the states that are BOTH east of the Mississippi River AND south of the Great Lakes, excluding Rhode Island and South Carolina, plus a handful of others west of the river.
