OK, you can pull out your white pants, togas, and repurposed wedding dresses. Of course, that means a lot of the pools are now officially open. So what are we doing today? Or just hijack. I don’t care, I’m not your supervisor.
Ehrmahgawd FIRST!
… any white clothing I have around is probably yellowish with age at this point.
It’s cold in Boston today. I didn’t get out my white clothes, I put a quilt back on my bed.
The title made me think of Michael Nesmith.
I have one white top. White pants make me feel like its a bright light saying, Look at my pants!
Today, I’m in Venice. Currently on a boat to spend the day on Murano.
It’s a rough life. Pity my suffering.
I’m opening the museum. We don’t get today off, in fact we’re usually closed on Mondays.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 with the possibility of rain. We shall see. Obviously there will be no quality cee-mint pond time today. Thus high RDOS inactivities are the order of the day. Sup will be grilled ham steak, green beans, all rotten N.O.T., and rolls. Borin’ but ‘twill fill our bellies.
Folks start wearin’ white at Easter in these parts. White shoes (N.O.S.) have been worn for over a month now. Miss Manners would be appalled!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all! It’s Memorial Day in ‘Murrika, but happy is not the word to use. Perhaps peaceful is appropriate.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “Fuck those fucking happy clouds.” It is indeed cloudy and cool, with a nice breeze. I have windows open for some fresh air.
It’s Spring Bank Holiday over here so no irk today for me. I did everything I needed to do yesterday so I can have a very slothful day at home. There are things I could do, but I Don Twanna, my plans involve the sofa and a book instead. It’s my turn to make dinner, I am planning on making chilli 'cos it’s easy (and will give me leftovers for the freezer). We have enough supplies in the house for today, I will do the grocery run tomorrow at lunchtime instead.
We have no rules about wearing white, although I don’t think I actually possess anything white. Perhaps if I feel inspired today, I might clear out the wardrobe as I can drop off a bag or two of unwanted items at the clothing bank in the supermarket’s car park.
I don’t think I ever paid attention to what time of year I would wear white, but it really doesn’t matter as I don’t think I own anything white. OK, socks and undergarments and one pair of New Balance sneaks, but that’s all. And I never had a wedding dress to repurpose as I was married in my khaki working uniform.
The pool at the marina opened on Saturday - I truly doubt that anyone has availed themselves of it, since yesterday’s high was 71°. I’m guessing the water is a tad cooler. All this week, there’s a chance of rain on and off and it won’t get into upper 70s till Thursday, so coolish. Not exactly pool weather.
Exciting highlights for the upcoming week: on Weds, we’re meeting with our money guy to discuss a few things that have recently come to mind. On Thursday first thing, I get blood drawn ahead of my Dr appt next week. And I need to get FCD to cut the wheels off our suitcases so I can replace them. I’ve only been on him to do that for the last 12-14 months. One of the wheels broke, so I bought replacements for all 8. Since we’re leaving a month from today, I think he needs to deal with them now, just in case I need to order different wheels.
The guest room bed has become the repository for travel stuff - no clothing yet, but things we want to remember and would likely forget during last-minute packing. Like my inflatable wedge pillow. I also need to pick a 3rd suitcase. We’re allowed two each at 50#, but we should each be able to get by with one and a carry-on, apart from warm outerwear. That’s what the 3rd bag will be for. It’s apt to be chilly north of the arctic circle.
My only plan is to run to the Charlotte Hall Food Lion and see if they have the root beer FCD likes. The Leonardtown store let me down. And I should probably call my sister who apparently doesn’t check her email - we’re hoping to leave our car at her house while we’re away, so I need to firm up those plans.
For the rest - we’ll see as we go along.
Happy Moanday!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s supposed to rain today. I did my chores yesterday so I shall sloth. And join Spot in napping, and possibly some screaming zoomies to get the blood flowing.
The only white clothing I have is 4 away hockey jerseys, so I wear those before and after Memorial Day.
< pitys intensely >
It’s white out alright. Two inches of snow.
I have about 10 tons of gravel to spread on my driveway yet. Couldn’t get it all done yesterday due rain/sleet. Then it snowed last night. Looks like my plans have changed…
Morning all. Up about 6:45am but since my bladder let me be I got 7 good hours of sleep. Need to go to the Mart of Wal today along with the Moanday grocery stop, so will leave some time for those activities in the schedule. The gym is only open until 4pm today, so need to get there early if I want to get my swimming in along with the gym time with the personal trainer. More rain expected this evening and the temps will stay below 80F for a little while (back up there by Thursday) but no sign of Ol’Sol in the sky.
Not doing much in terms of Memorial Day outside of the usual Moanday things. And would not wear white on any day, the odds of it staying clean are so infinitesimal that it’s not worth it.
Cervaise, someday, someday I am getting to Italy; it’s on the Bucket list (getting pretty long these days).
boo fae, I always liked the term ‘bank holiday’ even if it’s not used on this side of the pond. Looked it up and interesting that it’s codified in law by that name. And apparently today is called “Spring Bank Holiday” so a Happy Spring Bank Holiday to you!!
FCM, I never knew you could replace the wheels on your luggage, don’t need to but glad that I now know something I didn’t before. As for temperatures, Norway (at least the parts I’ll be visiting) are in the 50’s/60’sF so I’ll plan for that.
Spot: I can take care of that for you…
alpine, snow? snow? What is that strange substance?
OK, need to have my breakfast banana and get more or less organized for the day. Have a good week all.
On this Monday Morning, it’s 44F now, but we’re predicted a high of 72. We’ll open the windows, and maybe I’ll get out my white shorts. Maybe.
The radio is giving me samples of commencement speeches from the weekend’s graduations. LeVar Burton told the commencers, “We gon’ be all right.” That’s what optimism looks like in 2025.
We watched Alex Palou become the first Spaniard to win the Indianapolis 500. Later, we watched the NASCAR race at Charlotte, and went to bed before it finished. Somebody won, but I didn’t see who it was. We had a niece and nephew over for lunch. My nephew had found his old “The Greatest Spectacle In Racing” t-shirt for the occasion. TGSIR is the official catch-phrase of the Indy 500.
I’m aiming a pitying glance in Cervaise’s direction. Poor Cervaise!
Swampy, “all rotten” potatoes is a pun I haven’t heard for a long time. Thanks for bringing back old family memories.
fae boo, I’ve Ducksearched for the weather app you use, but I haven’t found it yet.
We’ll have 4 port calls north of the Arctic Circle, 2 in Norway and 2 in Greenland, so chilly. I understand wind can be brisk also. We’re taking warm hoodies and we can layer under them as necessary. And the ship will publish daily weather forecasts - plus we’ll have wifi for our own use. Delicate flower that I am, I find I get cold more easily as I’ve aged.
About time to get showered and dressed - holy crap - it’s 9AM!!! I’m such a RDOS! I need to haul the suitcases out to the shop, then haul myself to the store. And once the wheels are removed from the suitcases, I get to put the new ones on. Yep, an exciting day ahead.
Mornin’ all.
It’s 55°F and cloudy. Until around 9:00 a.m., we’ll have occasional light rain showers, but after, it’ll remain cloudy with a high temperature of around 67°F.
There is not much on the agenda, maybe a walk in the park. I want to go to one of my favorite nurseries because I need some filler annuals.
For dinner, we’ll split a ribeye steak and veggies or a salad as a side dish. Neither of us can eat a whole steak, and even when I was younger, I was essentially giving my half of my steak to the dogs (first Captain, later Brandi and Polar). I finally convinced my husband a few years ago that it’s a waste of money to prepare two steaks and that we could split one.
It’s been nearly a month since my last day at the office. I kind of unconsciously decided that I’d give myself a month to be a blob, as it were, but I know I need a routine of some sort, so now I have to figure out what that’ll be. I’m going to start cleaning out the closets and donating clothes. I also have books to donate. After that, it’s time to tackle the garage.
It’s also time to clear out the pantry again. Now that I’m not working, I can concentrate on finishing that. I thoroughly cleaned out the pantry and bought organizing bins during the Great End Times. However, my husband just puts stuff away willy-nilly, and this has resulted in chaos. I used to go behind him and put it all away properly. Also, he has some kind of herb and spice addiction, and comes home with some new blend every time he grocery shops. This has resulted in chaos, and I need to organize that too. All these things have been nibbling at my brain for some time, and now I have the time to take care of them.
I am going to try to get my husband on a walking routine, too. After I returned from walking with my friend the other day, he commented about how he had been trying to get me to go with him. Um, he wants to take the dogs every time, and sometimes I want to walk and not fight dogs who “SQUIRREL” every 30 seconds. So, we’re going to have to come to a consensus, but I do plan to make walking and, hopefully, eventually, a slow jog, part of my daily routine.
Okay, it’s time for more coffee. I need to shower and get ready for the day. I hope you all have a peaceful day.
Greetings!
Will type more later when its easier and less doggily congested.
I spend the majority of my time at the barn or loafing at home. White is not a practical color for either activity.
Home at 8:15 from my first shift of Ariel meds. I would have been home earlier but doing things like being social took extra time. Going to the chiro in a bit then being a RDOS til evening meds time. I will probably watch Roland Garros (French Open tennis).
Went to a barbeque yesterday and I have left over T bone steak. I’m not a leftovers person though. Maybe beef stroganoff?
Hanging out at the apartment and, possibly, taking the small beast to the dog park.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to pick the chicken / pork bones clean of meat for Scooby snacks before doing KP. Other than that, taking out the trash and the aforementioned trip to the dog park are all that is firm. I may hit the grocery store for a few things before Sis gets here tomorrow.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
I like using leftover beef in veggie-beef soup, but stroganoff sounds good, too.
I’m showered and dressed. About to haul the suitcases out to be de-wheeled. Then off to Food Lion. Probably. We shall see…
I had a couple of questions for my credit union, but I forgot they’re closed today. Must make a note for tomorrow.
Nothing white. I’m wearing my Seabee tee because reasons. Management has decided that in the spirit of. . .something. . .that this is a good day to provide root beer floats in the lobby.
All puzzles puzzled, but I’m skipping exercise because it’s a video. Breakfasted, showered, etc.
