Who are our current "Abe Vigodas"? (people you might be surprised to learn are still alive)

What is really sad and unusual is that Gomez on Addams Family has outlived the entire family, including both child actors, who have both died.

Wouldn’t that make him Inspector Luger?

Inspector Luger was a member of the police department, not a private detective. In any case, in such a hypothetical show, Barney would keep the same personality as in the series Barney Miller. Luger was quite different in personality from Barney.

John Astin has also outlived Raul Julia and Roger Rees.

He might outlive Tim Curry, though the acting gods have preserved Tim Curry for us.

Glynis Johns has been mentioned in this thread. She celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday.

Of the four principal adults in Mary Poppins, three are still alive: Glynis Johns (Mrs. Banks), Dick Van Dyke (dual role: Bert & Mr. Dawes Snr.) (both referenced above), and Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins). David Tomlinson (Mr. Banks) died in 2000.

Of the two kids, Matthew Garber (Michael) died in 1977 at age 21, while Karen Dotrice (Jane) is alive and hopefully well at 67.

And co-songwriter Richard M. Sherman remains with us at 95.

I thought Edie McClurg died a few years ago. Was surprised today to learn she is still with us. Good for her.

Clive Revill has been with us for quite a spell.

Joyce Randolph, who played Trixie Norton on “The Honeymooners” in 1955 is still alive at 98.

Burt Young was like Abe Vigoda for me in the 1990’s or so. When I was a kid and saw Rocky, I thought Paulie was at least 55 years old. Nope, I was way off.

Anyway, RIP to Paulie.

I met him in 1985, when “Back to School” was being filmed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a couple of scenes were filmed at my dorm. He would have been 45 at that time, and at least to my then-20-year-old eyes, he seemed at least a decade older than that.

97(!) year old Roger Corman picks movies to watch. I wouldn’t be surprised if folks thought he had died, but nope…he’s still going!

Lisa Lu played a character called Hey Girl in 21 episodes of the late-50s series Have Gun – Will Travel, and also did a bunch of other stuff. She will be 97 in January.

Donald Sutherland, born in 1935, is still alive.

Look at the rest of the 4077th:

  • Trapper John is 3 years younger than Hawkeye (though both of the TV Trappers have been gone a while)
  • Dr Oliver Harmon [slur[ Jones is about the same age as Trappec
  • Duke is a couple years older than Hawkeye
  • Frank Burns is a couple years older than Duke (though the TV Frank checked out many years ago)
  • Painless and Radar are quite a bit younger than the others
  • TV Hotlips is older than Trapper and Jones, although the movie Hotlips left us a couple years ago

Oddly, both Henries Blake got their discharge papers at the same time, but the movie Henry was a day late opening his.

Star Trek’s Barbara Babcock is still about.

I may have found this out when reviewing the work of William Ware Theiss for no particular reason.

Surviving MASH cast is my themed death pool and has been a few years. I hope I’m keeping them alive, both movie and TV show.

Monte Markham, still with us at 88.
