of course
Just saw a new video by Dick Cavett, who’s still around at 88.
This is really only a minor celebrity – “Cowboy” Bob Ellis was believed to be the oldest pro wrestler still alive at the age of 96 but his great granddaughter revealed just this week that he actually died in 2018 at the 89.
For those of you who don’t know…
comes from Pirates of Penance, where it turns out the main male love interest has been apprenticed until his 21st birthday instead of his 21st year, and he was born on Feb 29 (“I am a little boy of five!”)
huh?
The “Released from his indentures” line comes from the plot of Pirates of Penzance (stupid autocorrect!).
William Smithers is still alive. Turned 98 a couple of days ago. (Best know as Merrick in ST:TOS episode “Bread and Circuses”.)
I was watching a video about Cabaret last night. A movie made in 1972 but four of the main actors are still alive fifty-three years later; Liza Minelli, Michael York, Joel Grey, and Marisa Berenson.
and now she is not
My SO and I were trying to place all the retro TikTok music cues the day before yesterday, including Pretty Little Baby. The next day Connie Francis died.
Mercifully, the Shangri-Las of the “Oh no!” Song have already died, and I can’t be blamed.
Update: and shows no signs of stopping at 98.
(First time in thread, NOT reading the entire thing!)
I was stunned to learn the following this week:
- South Park is still being produced. In fact, the two guys who make it just signed a $1.5 billion, 5-year contract to make even more.
- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is still being produced.
For varying definitions, these are my Abe Vigoda’s.
Meet The Press is the longest running TV show in the United States at 77 years and frankly I am surprised it is still on the air.
Watching the HBO documentary about Billy Joel just now, I was reminded that Clive Davis is still alive at 93.
Former Buffalo Bills Head Coach Marv Levy turns 100 tomorrow. And he’s in good enough shape to be in personal attendance at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony being held today. He looks damn good, too (he had no problem standing when they sang him happy birthday)
And he, of course, is on my Themed Death List.
This is why you need to join our life pool game. He’s about to become 20 points!
I am in that game as well. But Levy is not on my list there.
Dammit.
There is now one remaining Dionne quintuplet, Annette, age 91, following sister Cecile’s death on 28 July.
