So sad for those girls. The Canadian government and their father were so awful to them
I was not aware Jim Lovell was a live until today, so he would have counted.
97 years old!
Eva Marie Saint who stared in “North by Northwest” celebrated her 101st birthday last month
Barbra Eden from “I dream of Jeanie” is 93 and Tina Louise who played Ginger Grant on “Gilligan’s Island” is 91.
He’s gone now:
I posted that in March so it’s not on me. If it’s within three days I own that I psychically killed them.
I didn’t know that AOL dial-up service was still alive, but apparently it’s being discontinued this September 30.
how sad
Brother Paramananda is 89.
Who?
Some of us remember him as “Finnegan”, the crazy guy that Captain Kirk was kerfuffling with in the episode Shore Leave, known back in those days as Bruce Mars.
Anita Gillette is alive at 88. I’m using this as an opening to post an amusing factoid I just learned.
The tv series Quincy, M.E. (1976-1983) starred Jack Klugman in the role of a medical examiner who solved crimes.
The character of Quincy was divorced and there was a season four episode where his ex-wife, Helen, appeared. Gillette was cast as Helen.
Move forward a few years. In the eighth and final season, Quincy got married again. His new wife was a doctor, Emily Hanover. And Gillette was cast as Emily.
I guess Quincy had a “type.”
John Cullum is still alive.
I have been binging ER recently, and he had a story arc as Mark Greene’s father. I’d seen him in Northern Exposure, and also in 1776. Also in The Day After though I didn’t realize it was him in that role (hadn’t heard of him, otherwise).
I assume he was long dead but it turns out he’s still around, at 95.
His character in Northern Exposure was from a family whose men were well-known for living a very long time.
I imagine Holling and Shelly are still together (Cynthia Geary turned 60 this year).
For a show that premiered thirty-five years ago, Northern Exposure has had a lot of luck with its cast. Of the main cast (all of whom were adults when the show started) only one (Peg Phillips) has died.
See post #875.
some things bear repeating
I missed most of his earlier work, so Terrence Stamp always seemed kind of old to me. Seems he is done with being old.
Whoops, wrong thread. Never mind.
June Lockhart, of Lassie and Lost in Space fame, turned 100 last June.
I don’t know if musical types count but my sister and I were talking books last night and I mentioned that I’m reading one called “Palisades Park”. She mentioned that there was a song by that name and I said: “Oh, yeah. Freddie “Boom Boom” Cannon. Had a number of hits back in the mid-sixties. Still alive at 88.
Heard a piece about Herb Alpert on NPR this weekend. I am surprised he is still going strong at 90.
