I am, and I can’t explain it. Every time I think I know who I really am, something will happen that shows me something about me I never knew. I am wherever life has taken me at the moment, and I look suspiciously like my picture on the SD people pages, only a little more worn and with a gotee, now.

Another Australian here. I’m Andrew. I’m 30, and I live in Bankstown, a suburb of Sydney, with my gorgeous girlfriend Kim (guess that makes me straight. I’m too dull to be gay). I’m a postal worker - YAY!

While travelling, I’ve been doing various temp jobs, mostly office administration stuff, but back at home I was in human resources, as a workplace trainer. My degree was in Psychology, and when I get back to Australia I plan to do further study to get into the mental health field.

Edinburgh, Scotland. Sitting in an office with a magnificent view of Arthur’s Seat. I’m off to London in a week or so, for the sole purpose of spending time with friends for about two months before I head back home to Sydney.

I’m a big ol’ sci-fi fan. Especially DS9 and Babylon 5. I used to edit a Star Trek fanzine, actually. (Why do I feel so dirty?) I’m into music in a heavy way, mostly guitar-based rock, British indie and stuff like that. Yes, dammit, I like Oasis. Also Concrete Blonde, Radiohead, Blur, Nick Cave, Elliot Smith, The Beatles, Stereophonics, PJ Harvey, The Pixies, Beth Orton, Jeff Buckley, Portishead and loads of others. I play bass along with some of their albums, very very badly. I love movies, especially anything that’s really moving (faves are Happiness and The Color Purple). My favourite activity is simply to sit in a pub with some friends and spend hours upon hours chatting. I do my fair share of that. I’m into exploring friends, relationships, thoughts, opinions, views. I enjoy my life. But I would like to do something with it that helps others, which I don’t do at the moment. I’m looking into that. I like to travel, and have spent time in England, Scotland, France and the US (mainly Virginia, Chicago, New York and Washington DC).

I and my parents were born in the USA. My grandmother on my father’s side was born in France, of Irish and Prussian/German parents (Frieseke and O’Bryan), and my father’s dad is German and Irish (Murray and Kilmer, originally Kelmer). My mother’s father is German (Hunter), and her mother is German as well (Stookey, from Stuckey). And above those I have Scottich, Scotch-Irish, Welsh, Native American, and probably a few other things I’ve forgotten since I was into genealogy some years ago.

Well, as you can tell from my post count, one of my main hobbies is this here SDMB. I also frequent another message board run by the lovely, though seemingly-understaffed, folks at The Motley Fool. So when you see me ranting or talking about the folks on my other MB, that’s who I mean.
I’m also an advertising rep (not nearly as fancy as it sounds) for kiwibox.com. And I post on there sporadically and play games and read things and such.
Then you have my school life outside of classes and eating and such. I was the first president of my school’s academic trivia team, and am currently a full member. When we go to tournaments I tend to moderate rather than play, which gives me the added bonus of not having to think and gives our team a $10 discount, which is always nice.
I’m also a member of my school’s Baptist Student Union, though I’m not baptist (neither is the president). That’s fun mostly, except when the people there decide to be stupid or whatever. So that’s nice.
I also enjoy singing and was apparently pretty decent at it in HS, but so far I haven’t found anything to my liking in college, which I hope will change. However, I get my music fill by singing along to stuff in my room, and that works.
Other hobbies . . . I follow various sports teams which I won’t list here because . . . well, there are a lot and I don’t think I’m be able to remember 'em. Suffice it to say that I like the Braves, Knicks, Colts and Capitals, and also have special places in my heart for the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and various other teams.

This is the one question I don’t answer factually a lot. So I’ll put it to you this way: for some thing I’m old enough, and for others I’m not. But I wouldn’t do the things I can’t do even if I could.
Other: I’m an English major with a concentration in 20th Century Literature (it works in my head, so I figured why not major in it?), and am also working toward a minor in psychology and a minor in French when they stop having the damned classes so fucking early in the morning! Argh!
I have two parents who are still married (either that, or living a lie), three siblings who are interesting in their own unique ways, three dogs who are, at times, more fun than the sibs, and at others, annoying. You can peruse my latest threads in MPSIMS for information about my roommate.
I’m planning on working for the Department of Parks and Recreation this summer for what will hopefully amount to a bit more than chump change.
