No one I know at either side of me – BadAfrican, who had four posts that went missing in that infamous Winter, and prideofpurple, with zero posts.
However, while I was going up and down along a little range, I came across a profile for a person who joined in October of 2000. Only 10 posts during his time here. His “last activity,” which I think means the last time he logged in, is 9/06/01. This made me a little sad. Hopefully he is alive and well and simply lost interest in the SDMB.

Seriously, I seem to be in a pretty good neighbourhood. To my immediate left I have Sublight, with 7,112 posts and a join date in August of 2000. To my immediate right, I have rocking chair, with a fancy charter membership, 3,787 posts and a join date of June, 2000.
Upon further review, I see that I have clicked on the wrong set of numbers, causing me to post the users who posted last, not the users who joined immediately before and after me. Apparently I, too, live in a quiet backwoods neighbourhood.

Right after is chalokiili with no posts at all, last activity 09-29-2005 02:39 AM, the same day he/she joined.
Under my previous incarnation (before I got Smart–number 19838) I was preceded by Polski King, a guest with a whopping 27 posts and last activity 03-25-2002 06:28 PM–the King hung around for a whole two weeks, woo hoo!
And followed by rhet, a guest with no posts at all who never came back after the first day.
You have to go as far as 19842 before running into ResIpsaLoquitor who racked up over 1700 posts before disappearing on 05-27-2004.
Not illustrious company, this! I’ll try to make up for having come from such a bad neighborhood…

I’m 9764, with a Join Date of 9-25-2000. I posted on a curve, spiking upwards, and then stopped shortly before the Universe got sucked into an Alternate Server (WOOMC).

On the othe side we have #9763, Charter Member iamthewalrus(:3= who is active and as prolific as me.

At 15,688, I find that I, too, live in a very rural district or perhaps even a cemetary. The late humbubba, a quiet soul, preceeded me with 0 posts. On the other side, however, I have A monkey with a gun to protect me from the rustlers and grave robbers, with 2042 posts and activity as recent as Sept 1. Thank you, Monkey. I feel much safer posting with you and your gun as my neighbors.
