New way to kill 5 minutes at work: How well do you know your SDMB nextdoor neighbors?

A long time back, with nothing better to do while I babysat the server during an upgrade, I decided to fiddle around on the SDMB. While I was humming Bob Seger’s “I Feel Like A Number” to myself, I came up with the idea of googling my member ID# (20128). It turned out to be a crappy idea…the only thing that came up for me was some dog food lot number. I posted it and the thread died a very quick death.

Well, here it is upgrade time once again. In the interest of originality, instead of once again googling my 5-digit number, I decided to check on my neighbors.

Ho hum: This was as bad an idea as the google-thang. It turns out my neighbor to the south, Aliyah613 (#20127) has but one post about mastubation while my [url=]neighbor to the north, cricketnap (#20129) has yet to post since registering back on the same day I did 3/14/02.
Well the 2nd registration actually: the first few hundred posts & original screen name were lost in the great hampster rebellion of 2002

So tell us great time-wasters…Got a couple minutes to kill?

  1. What are your neighbors like?
  2. Have you ever seen any of their posts & not even realized they came aboard mere minutes before ot after you did?

Just wondering…and watching the clock before I dart outta here.

To the south, ladies and gennulmun, I present the wonderful desdinova. Love ya kid, love ya work… actually I don’t remember seeing you around, but I’ll keep an eye out.

My neighbourly northerner is Bad Karma, who I’ve also never seen, but with a post count of 3 in two years and a bit, t’aint surprising.

Actually, this is quite interesting. It’s a way of finding out how many lurkers and abandoned accounts there are.

To do my whole “street” of two year-old members, for example:

Yee-hah! My number is very popular - over 12,000 Google hits.

I found stock numbers for rosewood-handled knives, mail-order brides, and a whole lot of stuff from Bonifay, Florida

My mute neighbor to the south shows up as an old steam locomotive as well as another mail-order bride and city in Florida.

To the north, yet another knife, bride and small-sounding town in Florida.

Not sure if I’ve seen anything from birdgirl. Interscape has yet to say anything.

#8588: Boots is my numerical neighbor to the north. As of this writing: only 57 posts and nothing since 3-21-2001.

#8590: SuZQRyche is my numerical neighbor to the south. As of this writing: only 9 posts, and nothing since 8-22-2000.

Like many others in this thread so far, I’m sandwiched between some very low post counts.

Just backspace over the number at the end of the URL and add or subtract to get the neighbor’s profiles. Like my number is 3309, I just go to the address bar and to the end of the URL, backspace over the 09 and manually type in 08 and 10 - there’s my neighbors!

I am #3309.

#3308 is OReality, posted 3 times and was never heard from again.

#3310 is Edlyn, a name I recoginze and who is still posting as of recently.

I be 20902 with 850 posts at 2.14 per day.

On the left we have Turner34 who has done nothing, nada, no posts, zilch, bugger all.

On the right presents welloso who last posted 25th September last year and has only posted 18 times in all.

So while I’m not as compulsive as some of you posters, I am stuck between a do-nothing-bozo and a do-little-dude.

To look up a person by their number use the following URL:

A shortcut is to click on someone’s profile button and when the page comes up replace the userid at the end of the URL with the user number you want to check.
