Who checks to see if they "write the best"?

In this thread:

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=149670:

Ace of Swords asks opinions as to which poster writes the best.

At this moment, it has 16 posts, and 369 reads. Wondering if anyone else is willing to fess up that they checked in just on the offchance that some deluded fellow poster might have included their name in such august company?

No, but I checked because I was feeling very smug.

I checked it, didn’t find myself mentioned, threw a hissy fit, stomped my little feet a bit, and then nominated myself.

Of course. As Asimov once remarked during a lecture, “I’ve never been guilty of False Modesty. Or even True Modesty, for that matter.”
Of course, nobody mentioned me. Sniff.

Eye dont hav thet mannie postes yet, butt eye checked, 'chust in cayce sum sharp-I’ed dopper noticd mmee.

Of course, it may be that many people are opening that thread to discover who the Master Posters are, at whose feet they may sit and learn.

And it may also be that Air Traffic Control is hiring swineherds these days.

I checked to see who would be nominated, knowing full well that I would not be, as my posts are often empty little remarks of little significance.

Such as this one.

487 views. About 30 candidates in the thread (who we won’t count) 6 confessions in this thread. That’s 350 confessions to come.

Uh, hawthorne - may I nominate that latest post for a new thread entitled Who does the most creative math?

Can’t imagine how ugly it’s gonna be to balance your checkbook after the holidays!

Yeah, I checked. I was hoping against hope that someone remembered a couple of the handful of truly excellent posts I made in ages past and would nominate me. Alas, it is not to be.

. . . or at least the master debaters . . .

I hereby de-nominate Eve.

I checked, but I knew I wouldn’t be mentioned simply because most of my posts tend to be throw away lines. I (along with pretty much everyone on the board) have had some great moments, but volume drowns out quantity. But, I do have the highest popularity rating among posters with 0 posts.

Hey! I just hit upon this strategy. If I start nominating more and more folk, maybe they’ll return the favor and jerk me off. Hmm.

That thread came up in my morning vanity search. So sue me.

Well, 289 of those views were from me. I figure if I keep checking I’ll find my name eventually.

I’ve never clicked on that thread.

Well, I admit. I clicked, even though there’s really no chance that my name would be there. I seldom write more than a sentence or two, so I doubt I’d be noticed as a “good writer” especially when there are plenty better.

But after the thread soulmate Cranky started in which my name was mentioned in the OP - I figured what the hell, you never know!

Plus, yeah, I was wondering if maybe there was a poster out there that’s really good that I haven’t been clued into yet.

Scylla’s pants are on FIRE!

I do periodic vanity searches. It stops the screaming e-mails that I used to get from people who addressed me in a thread that I never read. Imagine my surprise when that thread came out on top.

Well smack my face and call me a nigress. Biggirl wrote that, not beerchick.

How long do I have to pay for introducing a co-worker to the board?
