Who could possibly be Trump's running mate?

and IF he runs 3rd party. well , you can Perot that to the bank.

About tree fiddy.

What does this this have to do with whether or nor Trump seriously wants the presidency. $250,000 to Trump basically the equivalent of a $5.00 hamburger to someone with $100,000 in assets. This tells us nothing about whether the person he hired is an overpaid campaign manager or an overpaid publicist.

Trumps run of the presidency is just his answer to the question of “What do you get for the man who has everything.” In this case he decided he wanted his own cult of personality.

I honestly can’t think of anyone outside of his family who’d be willing to come a-running when Trump beat his gong. I DO see him choosing one of his kids. His daughter, Ivanka, would actually be an excellent choice. She’s intelligent, capable, and personable.

Who better to join Trump’s ticket than the wealthiest member of Congress: Darrell Issa.

They can continue the “we can’t be bought because we are so rich” theme.

Issa is a shameless hack.

Issa’s snap-on hair is a nice counterpoint to Trump’s… offering.

Given the results of the 2012 election, perhaps Mr. Romney should have paid for smarter guys.

If this isn’t illegal it should be. The office of the President of the US should not be shared via nepotism. We’ve had enough of Bush’s and Clinton’s. I say amend the constitution so direct family members cannot run for president or VP for the next 25 years after and can’t both be on the same ticket at the same time as Pres and VP.

There’s only one candidate who could set the right tone to keep Trump’s campaign going: ovarian cancer.

I wasn’t making a factual claim, I’m challenging why you’re mortified that a campaign manager for a major presidential candidate makes slightly less than a good lobbyist in DC.

My dispute with you is basically equivalent to me saying, “Starbucks gives its employees health care benefits as part of their compensation package, so what?” Meanwhile you go on to list a bunch of retail stores that don’t give their employees such benefits, and continue to imply that something is SERIOUSLY wrong with Starbucks.

Who the hell cares how much Trump’s campaign manager is paid? It doesn’t mean anything significant.

Oh, just who do you think you’re kidding? Whichever candidates get their party’s nominations are EASILY going to clear a billion dollars in campaign spending.

Obama, the DNC, and Obama’s PAC raised $1.07 billion in 2012, and Romney raised $992 million that year. There are predictions that the nominees will raise double that in 2016 (about $2 billion each), and then outside non-coordinating groups could raise double that again, meaning that total campaign spending for the presidential race might start closing in on $10 billion total.

You’re totally out of touch with what’s happening with campaign spending if you’re worried that one campaign manager is making $90k more than some other random staffer. Media consultants to campaigns are not working for $150k or $250k a year in any case, I can guarantee you that.

Apparently, such family dynasties are the will of the people. Turns out they wanted to eat cake.

I understand he was fired from that. Which would make appealing to that — audience of morons — implausible.

My claim is rather that no intelligent person drops that amount on a single staffer unless they look to win.

So you think he will get the GOP nomination ? Interesting; I wouldn’t make that claim yet.

Amusingly, it was Romney’s tech and computer ability that was a shambles.

I don’t think he’s saying anything is wrong, he’s just using the salary as a data point to back up his claim that Trump is taking this campaign seriously.

I guess we will see how fond the people are of dynasties, if we elect Jeb. Or another candidate I can think of.

Shodan

He does have sort of a Zaphod Beeblebrox vibe doesn’t he?

Aaaaahh… now it makes more sense. I missed your point even on successive re-readings. But, I have a good excuse: you’re innocent when you dream.

Let’s clear this up – I’m not saying that. And the staffer is being paid incrementally, like most other people on the planet. IF Trump becomes the nominee, he will likely raise more than $1 billion during the next year (roughly), and over that same period of time, this staffer would be paid $240,000. IF Trump drops out next month, the staffer would be paid 1/12th of $240,000. I’m saying this guy’s pay rate isn’t particularly outrageous.

But nor does the rate of pay have any greater meaning. Trump probably dropped a lot of cash to paint his 757 in that custom job he has. The amount of money he spends on a paint job doesn’t mean he is more serious about plane travel than anyone else; spending slightly more on a campaign manager (who surely costs a hell of a lot less than the vast majority of senior executives in the Trump Organization) doesn’t make him more serious than any other candidate who pays his/her staffers less.

ETA: I also note that you provided a caveat to your statement: no intelligent person drops that amount on a single staffer… We’re still talking about Trump, right?

I was moderately surprised to learn she would be eligible. She’s apparently 34 now, which means she’d be 35 by the time she’d be sworn in in 2017. She also matches her father’s complete lack of any qualifications, other than the Constitutional ones.

But couldn’t he be taking his publicity stunt seriously? The salary is “chicken-feed” for a promotion on this scale. (Substitute “ego trip” for “publicity stunt” if you wish; for Trump they’re almost equivalent.)

^This. The GOP is stuck with Trump as their candidate, and assuming he wants the job for reals, they are going to have to first defeat Hillary. No easy task as most Democrats cringe at the thought of a Trump+any of the bat-shit-crazy-on-the-right ticket. That ticket would bring Democrats out in droves to vote for Hillary.

However, Trump is all about winning strategy and not about party purity, so I could see him asking Sanders to join forces with him - they’d probably capture a tidy portion of the Democrat’s voting block in the process. Maybe just enough to weaken Hillary and take the prize.

Likewise, Hillary ought to be looking at a couple of the more sane GOP candidates as a running mate, for the same reason.

Why on earth would Sanders accept?

Sanders and Trump? Clinton and a GOP running mate? Are you folks for real?
