Ralph Macchio in 1983 - yowza!! I was 13 and had pictures of him all over the place.
Misnomer, I’ll fight you for Gene Wilder circa Blazing Saddles.
Also mid-seventies Robert Plant.
And Sean Connery. Many decades…
My most recent celebrity crushes were Hurricane Katrina-era Anderson Cooper, and Anthony Bourdain before he had a kid and cleaned up his act a bit.
IRL, it was another Scottish guy named Sean who had left the Royal Navy and was working in some military capacity here in the States. That was years ago, but the crush was intense…
Oh, and Rob Thomas around 2004. Also, Anthony Green (is that his name?) from Top Gun. And my very first crush: Gordon from Sesame Street.
Kevin Costner - mostly as Crash Davis but I’ll watch No Way Out when it comes around on the TV. I do love a man in uniform.
My Teen Beat poster guy in the early 80s was Scott Baio. I didn’t care much for Chachi, but man oh man was he nice to look at. And I did (and do) love Bugsy Malone. I did in fact want Charles in charge of me. His more recent reality shows make me a little embarrassed to admit it.
John Cusack is probably my most enduring celebrity crush. I had a crush on him when he was Lloyd Dobbler and to this day I find him charming and smart and funny in interviews. And easy on the eyes.
And one client at a previous job. He was (and I imagine still is) tall, and had all of the physical features I’d choose if I they ever develop a Build-a-date store. He was always nice to me (not true of as many customers in high end retail as you might think) with the bonus of an absolutely lovely speaking voice. Rrrowr. He came in sometimes with his kids (on his alternate weekends) and was patient and funny with them and clearly proud of them. He also was teaching them manners and to be nice to everyone including shop girls. sigh
In the past (90’s)
LL Cool J (You have no idea)
The Hispanic-looking guy on Backstreet Boys
Peter Gunz (So ashamed to admit that)
DJ Envy
Present:
Chris Dorner (I know, I know, but he’s hot)
Colin Kaepernick (It’s obscene how good he looks)
Aaron Hernandez (I know, I know, but he’s hot)
Amy Schumer (I can’t believe a woman can actually look good)
Justin Timberlake
T.I.
Rolling crushes over the past year: Damien Lewis in Life led to Homeland and a dual crush with Claire Danes. Checked out My So-Called Life on Hulu (feeling pervy since Angela Chase could be my granddaughter) and moved over to young, handsome Tom Irwin. In his recent work he’s still got the piercing gaze, dimples and sexy voice. It’s nice to have an age-appropriate imaginary boyfriend.
Wax off.
David Cassidy - Partridge Family years. My first pre-teen crush.
Colin Firth - 1994’s Mr. Darcy. I, along with most every other straight woman, dropped my jaw at the wet shirt scene, but my heart absolutely melted at the way he looked at Elizabeth after she helped Georgiana recover from Caroline Bingley’s heartless and thoughtless mention of Mr. Wickham. My crush abides still. My husband knows that if Colin Firth ever shows up in my small Missouri town, I am allowed to sleep with him.
Don Henley mid 1980’s to today, but especially the “Building the Perfect Beast/The End of the Innocence/Hell Freezes Over” years.
Yeah. I was going to say that you can keep grown-up Claire Danes if I can have 1994 Claire Danes, and then I realized that she would be 15. So, scratch that, I guess.
…
Hang on, when was Romeo + Juliet made? I guess I could settle for that Claire Danes, in a pinch… Damn it, 1996. That’s still on the creepy side.
Forgot one: Wil Smith is definitely hot and I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers, but back in the Fresh Prince days I had a serious crush on Alfonso Ribeiro.
(I later discovered that Alfonso and I are exactly the same age. Lots of celebs share my birthday [day and month], but Alfonso Ribeiro and Luke Wilson are the only two celebs I’m aware of who share my birth date [including the year].)
Do you mean Anthony Edwards (also of ER)? If so, I’ll fight you for him, too. I first noticed him in 1985’s Gotcha!: horrible movie, adorable (and kind of very sexy) Anthony.
I can’t believe I also forgot John Cusack! :smack:
Yes, Anthony Edwards! Just adorable!
Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (my first crush, starting at age 5 and enduring throughout my life)
Hugh Laurie in House (but, like Blackberry, only as House).
Jeremy Irons
Julian Sands in Rose Red
Robert Downey Jr. (especially as Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark)
Current big crush: David Tennant. Especially as The Doctor and as Peter Vincent in Fright Night, but I will watch him in anything and everything.
Rita Hayworth when, as a kid, I fist saw her pinup poster.
Raquel Welch
Anne Archer from Lifeguard on.
Jessica Savitch
Deborah Norville
Sandra Bullock since Love Potion #9.
Jessica Alba
I’m madly in love with the Tenth Doctor. I don’t give a damn about David Tennant - I have the biggest crush on the character.
I hate to admit it, but Spike the vampire from Buffy did it for me. It wasn’t his looks, I still think he looks kind of weird. It was the character. Wit, practicality, love, pain, violence, and a great deal of unexpected (especially by Spike himself) tenderness and goodness.
My last crush before that (teenage years) was with Robert Smith of the Cure, ca 1990. Sigh: we don’t get to pick our crushes.
Like some others, Erin Gray in Buck Rogers was a teen crush for me. Saw her last month at Denver Comic Con. She is now a hippie granny.
Susan Dey - Partridge Family and LA Law
The Go-Go’s in the early 80s. All of them. Ok, maybe that was more of a fantasy than a crush.
Karen Allen - Animal House and Raiders of the Lost Ark
Farrah Fawcett - Yes, I had that poster in my room.
Gina Torres - Firefly (The other female leads were not age appropriate for me when the series was made, and I’m sticking to that story.)
Kathy Ireland, mid-'80s!
Val Kilmer, back around the time of “The Saint” (not that I’m recommending the movie itself) and earlier. Sorry, dude - you got kinda fat and you have a bad rep for being an a-hole now. I liked ya when you looked like - and could play - Jim Morrison and I didn’t yet know what bad news a-holes can be.
I had such the little kiddie crush on Neil Patrick Harris back in his Doogie Howser days. Saw him recently and he’s as adorable as ever, though we apparently play for very different teams.
Matt Bomer in “White Collar,” which is actually still on so it’s a pretty current crush, but I caught a re-run of the pilot and … ooooooh.
My first crush was the Sunbeam Girl. (The mascot for the Sunbeam brand of bread well-known in the U.S. South).
I was 5 years old. She might have been 6. I’ve always been attracted to older women.
In my world, girls never had cooties.
Freud would have said that I skipped my ‘latency phase’.
///////////////////
Barbara Eden, check.
Erin Grey, check.
Sigourney Weaver, check.
Zooey Deschanel in her blonde phase.
In 1966 I watched The Dick Van Dyke Show on TV.
I developed a crush on Mary Tyler Moore.
I was 3 years old.
I had no idea what I wanted her for, ***but I wanted her! ***
I still have a crush on her.
