Well to be fair his proposal was to change its funding to “a consumption tax” … essentially raising sales taxes to fund it instead of by way of income. Everybody consumes, even those who have no income, including those whose income is unreported. Including the poorest and those trying to live off of Social Security of course.
Uh yeah. Regressive taxation more even than the payroll tax set-up is and taxing those who have already paid into the system a second time. Really really stupid.

You can demonize the Nazis because there aren’t Nazi followers and Nazi governments that you need to work with. You could demonize the Germans in WW II because there weren’t other German countries that you had to work with. You could demonize the Japanese in WW II because there were no other Japanese countries that you had to maintain relations with. But FDR went too far and permitted the imprisonment of citizens for having Japanese ancestry.
Now what you want Obama to do is demonize Muslims. This can’t be done because it isn’t fair (only a tiny percentage of Muslims are terrorists) and counterproductive (many many Muslim nations are our friends, allies, and trading partners). Why do Republicans love hate speech like “Islamofascism” and “Islamic terrorism”? Because they gin up the outrage of their ignorant, racist, xenophobic base.

I thought Trump’s comments about how he donated to many political campaigns over the years which bought him the rights to the candidates was sadly the most truthful thing I’ve ever heard in a debate.
Why is that important? Terrorists are acting on a bastardization of Islam. It’s perfectly legitimate to say that they do not represent Islam and are not being good Muslims. Similarly, we can state that Mike Huckabee represents a bastardization of Christianity in his attempt to make the US a theocracy and that Huckabee is a poor Christian.
