I lean left and want Clinton. Nothing matter more than preventing a GOP presidency. I’m very pro-Sanders and his positions, but I feel Clinton will be a stronger candidate
Most Democrats consider themselves to “lean left”. The center wasn’t fully defined - was it the center of the Democratic Party or the center of the general electorate. I thought it was the latter, to be honest (I’m probably in the center of the party, which makes me definitely lean left concerning the general electorate).
Bingo, they think he’s more beatable.
Exactly this, for me. Some of Sanders’ ideas may be laudable, but he will be unable to get any of them passed, in any variation, so it will be a waste of four (or eight) years, and likely to beat out the Obama presidency for being unable to get much past a legislature that is only intent on taking care of their jobs, not the country.
Can we have one in 2020, then?
Or is it always to be “jam tomorrow”?
My stance as well. Hillary is the only mainstream candidate I can vote for.
Well, you know we all want to change the world.
You’ve said this many times. Do you have any evidence whatsoever that voters will be more bothered by Sanders’s 1980s travels than they will by Clinton’s Benghazi/email server/Travelgate/Whitewater/Vince Foster stuff? I’m completely setting aside whether any of these are actual scandals, whether they’re smears, whatever–what evidence do you have to support your implication that Sander’s communist honeymoon bothers people more than Clinton’s flouting of email rules?
I don’t know that I’d call her a liar (that is, not any more of a liar than your typical pol), but you’re right that she’s power-hungry and the more I think of an actual Clinton presidency, the less I like it. I’m leaning much more towards Bernie as the election draws nearer.
Frankly, I don’t think either Clinton or Sanders will get anything thru Congress. But that’s mostly domestic stuff, and I’m more or less OK with that. But on foreign policy, I much more in Bernie’s camp than in Hillary’s. Bernie will get us the hell out of these fucking wars, but I’m afraid Hillary will drag it on and on and on (as Obama is doing). And Congress has much less control over foreign policy.
So, I’m jumping on the Bern-wagon, and hoping he gets the nomination. As time goes on, I see him more and more electable, too.
If it’s not Clinton, I clearly will not vote for Sanders.
So long Martin O’Malley, we hardly knew ye.
Bleh, so HRC, I guess. Sanders would be the most isolated president since I don’t know when. His proposals are outside the democratic mainstream. We would be faced with the spectacle of dems joining with republicans to override his vetoes.
I really don’t care for Hillary Clinton. After the Marc Rich pardon, I was hoping the Clintons would fade away completely. Sure she’s competent and capable, but she also seems a lot like the republicans vying for the nomination: seeking power for the sake of having power. I didn’t vote for Obama because he’s black, and I wouldn’t vote for Hillary because I think it’s high time a woman was in the oval office. But what choice is there? Bernie is unelectable, but his fans just can’t accept it.
So woo-hoo, go Hillary. She is light years better than having an overly-emotional, reactionary, impulsive, bigoted, insecure shouter like Trump as Commander in Chief.
The Democratic Governors’ Association put up a poll on their website asking whom you support, Hillary or Bernie. It is very telling that Hillary’s name is the only name visible on the survey, you have to scroll down in the one-line box to find Bernie’s name.
I am not really enamored with Sec. Clinton or Sen. Sanders but I suspect that Sen. Sanders campaign will not make much headway after Super Tuesday, and he will eventually drop out. Flawed as she is, I think Sec. Clinton will get the nomination.
I am hoping it’s Sanders, providing the GOP nominee is anyone except Trump. Because Bernie will lose badly and anyone except Trump would win.
Regards,
Shodan
I’m an independent, but lean towards traditional old-school Republican (hey, put down that rotten fruit and hear me out!)
Given the choice between Clinton and Sanders, I lean towards Sanders, mainly because I LOATHE hillary, given a choice between, let’s say Cthulhu or Clinton? The Great Old One gets my vote, even if it means I am eaten last, I’d trust Cthulhu before I’d trust hillary
That said, I don’t like any of the 'pubbies either, not sure which scares me more, a Trump administration or a hillary administration…
Nope, Cthulu is still more trustworthy
And then, in the midterms, being replaced by challengers from their left. You really don’t seem to appreciate the seismic shift that’s going on in the party.
I had to read that a couple of times before I figured out what you meant.
Why not?
Left-leaning. I would vote for either one if they got the nomination. I will vote for Clinton in a primary. Bernie has the better ideals, but Clinton has the better plans. I also like her ideas on things that are incredibly important to me (and I think to the American economy) such as caregiver credits.
I don’t make the perfect the enemy of the good and I try to avoid purity tests.
