One of the benefits of being on the low end of income, I guess.
Finished e-filing yesterday. Anyone else done?

I’m still wating for my W-2. I don’t even know if I am going to get it or not. The company I worked for last year went bankrupt and no longer exists.
I always do it in the first week of February. It’s not until then that I can count on having all my interest statements. For example, right now I have my mortgage interest statement, but not the one for my home equity loan. And they’re from the same bank!
We never get money back so we always wait until the last couple weeks of filing season.
Same here. I do everything on Turbotax except for hit the send button whenever I get all the forms in the mail, and then hit send and pay up on April 14 or so. But I’ve got some capital losses this year (like 98% of investors), so it will be interesting to see how that shakes things up.
I’ve never dealt with this before. If my deferred comp was taken out of my check pre-tax do I get to write off the loss?
My roommate finished filing last week. When she told me about it I said, “Wow, really? So you already got your W2 from X Company and Y Company where you worked last year?” Umm, no. She got the W2 from her current job and just went ahead and filed without the paperwork from all 3 of the jobs she worked in 2008. I will try to be gone the day the IRS comes and takes her away.
I’ve filed my Federal return, but not the state one yet. (I could e-file the Federal one for free, but hell if I’m going to pay the software company another $14.95 to file the state return through the same software when Illinois lets me e-file my state return directly on the Dept. of revenue site for free.) Getting a refund was a nice surprise - I earned a bit less last year than the year before (less overtime, which was just fine by me), plus yay for the student loan interest deduction.
I filed mine last week and will get my direct deposit next Friday, the 30th. Unless there was some kind of horrible mistake, I’m getting almost 7 thousand dollars back. Woohoo!
I haven’t gotten my W2 yet but will file as soon as I do. I should be getting something back, and I need it.
You might want to inform her that she can always (and in this case, should) refile.
I’m still waiting on both of my W-2’s myself.
My girlfriend has been chomping at the bit for her tax documents. She’s been checking with her Amerirpise account endlessly trying to get it going, but they’re not up yet. I think she checks every day, if not, multiple times a day.
I did mine on Monday. I had to look up my student loan interest statements online, though, as I hadn’t received them yet.
Got my W2 today. I love doing taxes. I don’t know why.
Last year, though, we got married and that makes things more complicated, since he has very little taxable income as a military person (most of the income is untaxable). So, he’s always been in a very low tax bracket; I think we’re getting hit by the marriage penalty huge time. I’ve been overpaying quite a bit to make up for this. Normally I know within about a few hundred what refund to expect, but this time, especially with college tuition, it’ll be a total crapshoot.
I have moderately complicated taxes most years and very complicated taxes this year, so it’ll be a while before I’m finished.
In any case I’m not sure it makes any sense to file my California taxes any time soon. Who knows if there’s any money in the state budget to send tax refunds. They keep talk about sending us IOUs instead.

I would be done if they would send my wife her w-2’s.
I’m still waiting for all the paperwork to come in.
I finished mine a few days ago - my employer’s W-2 is available online, and the only other thing that affects me is the Lifetime Learning Credit.
Not much paperwork has been received yet, and we tend to be last-minute kind of people, even though we know we are getting money back. Tuition credits and the fact that I only worked 3 months last year are helpful!
Done yesterday. Getting a lot more back than I thought. Too bad I have to use it on moving!
