34 year old Male. Currently both ear lobes pierced and stretched to 2 guage. Left ear 10 guage Conch (the thickest part of the ear near the opening with a ring that goes around the rest of the ear)
previously but now only scars (all these after my 30th year btw)… Left eyebrow 2 times, right eyebrow 1 time, tounge 2 times, labret (lip) 2 times. Penis… almost, im just not that proud! lol
First earing in high school. By the time I was 17 I had four holes in the left ear, three in the right, a pierced nose and nipple. The only one I still wear is the nipple ring. All the holes in my ears are still working. The one in my nose closed up after I had a few rounds of surgery in that location (reconstructive).
First tattoo in high school - self done.
I now have 6 tattoos in all - the largest is a 50’s style full colour cartoon of jazz players going around my upper right arm. I got that one last year.
The other tattoos are on my upper left arm. I’m having cherubs done by different artists in different towns I visit. So far I have one from Seattle, San Francisco, Victoria and Vancouver BC. Once I have enough cherubs to go all the way around my arm I will have one tattoo artist blend them together.
Looking at me at work, you’d never know.
I would like to have something large done on my back. I haven’t decided on what yet. I’m leaning towards abstract wings.
Two tattoos - one is a Celtic knot design on my right shoulder blade. Got it cause I was in Austin and wanted to do something “spring break”-like, because I never had a traditional spring break in high school and college. Plus, Austin is all about rock, and what’s more rock than getting a tattoo? Second tattoo is a Radiohead bear, cause they’re my favorite band and always will be. Plus, it looks cool. Both are in easy-to-hide-at-work places, so I don’t see myself ever regretting them.
One former piercing - in my left ear. Realized it wasn’t “me” while sitting at work one day and took it out and haven’t replaced it since. It’s now a closed-up dent in my earlobe.
5 piercings in the lobe of my left ear, plus the cartilage pierced. 4 piercings in the right ear. I only wear diamond studs in the first holes these days.
3 tattoos. One on my left shoulder, one on my upper right arm, one on my right hip.
I almost got my belly button pierced a few years ago, but never had it done.
28 Male- Two tattoos, one of a Tibetan dragon on my upper arm and one of a shamrock with a banner that says “Good Luck” on my calf. Both tats are pretty large, and I’d love to get more just as soon as the magic money fairy stops by my house…
Both ears pierced twice, but I’m only wearing rings in the first two these days. I lost one of the captive balls off of one set and I’m too cheap to replace them.
Can you explain orbital piercing, strike branding and decorative scarification? Sounds dangerous but exciting!(Sorry to be stupid; I just don’t know all the jargon)
36, no tats, ears pierced.
I would love to have more piercings because I like the way they look, but I have a terrible needle phobia so it’s not gonna happen any time soon.
I wouldn’t get a tattoo even if I wasn’t scared of needles. I just don’t think there’s any picture/word/name in the world I’d want to see every single day of my life, even my own SO or kids.
I’ve never been particularly interested in anything other than tattoos, but for some reason that sounds pretty damn cool. Do you have any SFW pictures of it that you’re willing to share?
An orbital is a ring that goes through two holes. An industrial is a straight bar that goes through two holes.
Strike branding is done with a heated piece of metal pressed into the skin. Cautery branding is done with a medical laser.
The scarification was done with scalpels. The design was cut into the skin, a second parallel cut was made, and a layer of skin was removed in between to make sure that there was a visible scar. You see, in a typical cut/wound, the two sides of the wound just close back together and the resultant scar can be pretty minimal. When a section of the surface skin is missing in a wound, the underlayers at the center of the scar sort of fill in at the wound. Medical terminology is “healing by granulation” or “secondary intention.” The same artist did the brand and the scar. When he was doing the scar he said, "I used to be really hard core about this. I’d tell the client [regarding the removed section of skin] to either eat it, burn it, or bury it.
