Eh? One of my ancestral relatives, Giambattista Bodoni, devised a font, and it’s called Bodoni after him. I’m not sure if I’m a direct or collateral descendant of his, though. If you come across a Bodoni in the United States, I’m probably related to him or her.
I think there’s an absence of punctuation: “I’m the cow god. Mooo.”
I can’t believe how many folks say they didn’t get Andy’s name right off.
Sue Dunhym, on the other hand, didn’t make sense to me until one day I had one of those :smack: moments.
Here’s a cryptic one:
Sounds like rubber but isn’t. And why two and why pseudo and what’s triton, the god, the sea animal, or the nucleus of tritium ?
Compare the far less cryptic:
I hope this isn’t out of place.
I just hooked up a new computer. Not fun. My daughter decided to write a poem, so she needed to go to the word processor/whatever.
It is Microsoft Word. Our printer needed tweaking to make it print so I came over to see if I could help. My daughter had been experimenting with word fonts.
I saw the selection for Blackadder and laughed. Then I saw that I could choose Bodoni.
WTF?
I am so clueless.
Replys?

Yep. Beauty–check. Smartness–check. Good taste–check. Charm–check.
“Cancel the DNA test, guys. We got a match”
What other name would you give a cow god on the SDMB other than “Moo”?
I don’t Trilby was so much looking for as was puzzled by the name, Flami.
I think it’s a moment of Larsonian tragic realisation:
“I’m the cow. God! Moo.”
Just fixing the front page.
Imthecowgodmoo is perhaps what Trilby was looking for.
For some reason I just wondered this.
What is the most cryptic name you’ve seen. I am sure if you are a mod or admin you are in a much better position to answer this.
I’ve put this here as opposed to MPSIMS or IMHO because I didn’t want it to become a long post-count party type thread. I am just curious.
It took me way to long to figure out Satisfying Andy Licious’s name (I thinkit’s great now that I get it).
I’ve often wondered what Exapno Mapcase is all about … some time back he mentioned he had explained his name in another thread, but I couldn’t find it. Hopefully he’ll drop by and put me out of my misery?
I believe it is from Harpo Marks’ statement about how his name looks when written in a Cyrillic font.
Well, when my great-grandparents came over from the Old Country the gentleman at Ellis Island changed it from Mapcasiezwiczskiovich…
That link isn’t me, BTW. A number of Marxians have glommed onto the name as online aliases.
The tale is first told in Harpo Speaks. Even though I’m much more of a Groucho fan than a Harpo fan, the name and story have stuck in my head for decades. When I decided to stop lurking here it just seemed automatic to use it.
Since it’s a print Marx reference rather than a film one, I’ve been surprised at how many others on the board have recognized it.
I’ve seen this before. What does it mean?
Thank you Mangetout, Beeruser, and of course Exapno Mapcase!!
