Plus the board would be really boring if I cornfielded everyone who gave me the shits. And then how would I have context for Vinyl Turnip’s witticisms? ![]()

As I said, I have an ignore list of one, and when I see that “you have this poster on ignore” (or whatever the message is) it’s almost as jarring, aesthetically, as the actual post would be - or rather the several posts in a row would be.
I think some posters are assuming that only people you disagree with get put on ignore - that’s not the case at all, really.
I’m happy to read opinions that differ from my own. In fact, I’ve changed my mind about some fairly significant things solely because of reading about another point of view right here on the dope.
I put assholes, braggarts, chronic thread-shitters, posters with verbal diarrhea (no, not you Beckdawreck), jerks and obvious trolls on ignore.
I’ve never even considered the ignore function, it just seems like much more hassle than help. It is much easier to just mentally ignore and scroll past posters I don’t want to read.
I currently have 49. I consider it my personal ban list. I should go through and remove actually banned posters. I didn’t have anyone ignored for a long time, but at some point I thought “why am I scrolling past this poster’s dreck yet again?”.
I don’t ignore posters because I disagree with them. I ban them because their posts are so valueless I don’t want to spend the time to scroll past them. That includes posters from across the political spectrum (for example, CENSORED, CENSORED) and also some ignoramuses that seem to enjoy posting bunk (CENSORED).
Only two. Usually I scroll past people I disagree with but these two seemed to get under my skin.
Don’t look! It’s a trick!
Awwww! You so nice to me.
Are you really Santa Claus? I have list i need to get to you.
I have 33 but a large portion of them are banned or no longer active. Edit: 16 of them have accounts in good standing and have logged in within the last month.
For those who have never used the function, you can still read the posts, you just have to click on something first. I use it as a warning that the contents are probably pretty stupid and not worth engaging with.
I have around as many as you do and occasionally wondered if I was blocking them due to political bias when I realized the vast majority of them are returning right wing socks, so the true number is unknown in that direction. I have a handful of useless apolitical posters ignored too, along with a handful of left wingers, and strangely those of that persuasion who are banned don’t seem to return.
